Avatar f tn Carbohydrates break down into sugars easily, so healthy carbohydrates such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes such as beans and peas and low-fat dairy products should constitute the majority of this food group. Fiber-rich foods such as vegetables, nuts, legumes and whole grain products help to control blood sugar levels and are excellent choices as part of a diabbetic diet. Fish are a good source of protein and a healthy alternative to higher-fat options such as red meat.
Avatar m tn If sugar is listed under carbs, I like it it be 1 gram or less. I don't believe in eating fake foods so I cannot comment on what else they put into these shakes. Try eating foods made with whole grains, nuts and more vegies, fish, poultry and lean meats.
Avatar n tn i have tachycardia and pvc's after eating certain foods, e.g. Soy products. In my case it causes stomache gas. In the pharmacist they sell stuff call "simethicone" it helps against stomache gas and relieves me from PVC's, but the best thing to do in a case like mine is to prevent stomache gas because it's unhealthy to take over the counter meds every day !!

Avatar n tn I have read that after meals, glucose levels can go up to about 146 before a person is considered in the diabetic range. So your glucose readings thus far sound like they would be considered in the normal range of values except for the on at 61. As a diabetic, I know that I can actually start to feel bad when glucose is in the lower 70's even though 70 is considered the lowest level of normal.
2089297 tn?1332720394 Yes indeed! :) A few excerpts from a couple of informative articles... "Believe it or not, stomach acid isn’t there just to punish you for eating Indian food. Most people have no idea how many vital roles stomach acid plays in our bodies.
Avatar f tn I feel like I am doing my best, but I am flying blind. Because of my lack of knowledge about diabetic foods, I would do best with having a menu to refer to. A meal plan written and planned out ahead of time and a snack list of sorts. The scary thing about all this is that I dont know if the foods I was taught to be "healthy" all my life, are what my daughter needs. I am willing to do what it takes to change the household to benefit her, but I dont know what to change!
1538488 tn?1331486905 why don't you get a list of foods the doctor permits? Not knowing the foods available in your region of India it is difficult to suggest what to eat. If your mother is diabetic she needs to reduce her intake of white rice as rice turns into sugar after eating - brown rice is better. Make your own Roti?

Avatar f tn My blood sugar was a little high, but not diabetic (around 130). My doc said I was borderline diabetic and to eat small meals low in carbs high in protein. I did this and also cut out all refined sugars and carbs. I can't even eat high sugar fruits, I mainly just have berries. When cutting out sugar I wasn't thirsty all the time, and I was less dizzy. But starting in March I began to have other symptoms. Now I have numbness/tingling in my hands and feet.

It helps with blood sugar and takes away your appetite by making you feel full. There are also two newer products. Good luck.
