Diabetes high blood sugar in morning

Common Questions and Answers about Diabetes high blood sugar in morning

diabetes

Avatar f tn Hello, fasting blood sugar in the range of 120 - 130 puts you firmly in diabetic territory, as does your hba1c of 7.4 which corresponds to an average blood sugar level of about 180. These levels would already require medications. Consider that normal fasting should be below 90 and normal hba1c is < 5.0. Given your height and weight, you are not overweight. Further you have no family history of diabetes. Therefore, I believe you should be evaluated for adult onset type 1 diabetes.
Avatar n tn egg with mayonaise, some cheese and nuts, etc). By eating at night you may be able to help your morning blood sugar be a bit lower. When you have extended fasting your liver can put out glucose. By eating a small snack you may be able to prevent your liver doing this. hope this helps. Please come back and let us know how you're going. Often diabetes in preganncy will get worse as the pregnancy progresses (insulin resistance increases as the pregnancy progresses and the placenta grows).
Avatar n tn Has anyone ever heard of someone who was in a car accident due to high blood sugar levels. My brother caused an accident and is charged with 2 felony assults with his car. He is a type 1 diabetic for 40 years and this is the first time he was in an accident due to diabetes. After the accident he started talking and said he hit the person on purpose and would do it again. This was not like hime at all.
Avatar n tn It would not be neccasarily unusual for a normal non-Diabetics blood sugar to go into the high 100's after eating. Of course I am not a physician and can not make an official diagnosis, I would be leaning that your daughter is probably not a Diabetic from the information you have given me.
268033 tn?1270171467 Is my blood sugar high? Do I need to go back to the doctor and have him up my metformin? I don't want to be like this and I am worried sick about it. Please advise. Thank you in advance.
1773108 tn?1314161667 Good Morning, I have a question about high blood sugar levels that don't seem to stabilize. My boyfriend has been struggling for years with high blood sugar. He told me this morning that his level was at 480+!!!! He says he doesn't feel any different whether it's high or low. The lowest it's been (to my knowledge) is still in the high range of 200+. He's one of those who just try to do things "naturally" so therefore is not currently taking RX meds, just natural supplements.
Avatar n tn After I gave him something really sweet to drink about 45 minutes later he was ready to eat. So do we have a problem with low sugar or high sugar? Is this something to worry about? He cant't talk so he can't tell us how he feels. My husband won't have insurance until the end of April. So were kinda stuck at the moment with being able to get anyone to help us. We were also told that since his seizures last that long we should really be worrying about brain deteriation. We don't know what to do.
Avatar n tn When my sugar drops to 150, I get really tired, weird feeling in my legs and nauseas. For someone like me who constantly has a high blood sugar is 150 considered low? Also can high blood sugar be related in any way to weight loss? I am experiencing some weight loss and I am not sure if it due to my sugar, the fact I was taken off Avandia and put on Junovia because I know Avandia increases weight or if something else is happening to me.
1410910 tn?1281587981 Random blood sugars are not too meaningful. When was this blood sugar done? If it was first thing in the morning before food it is a bit high (and would classify as pre-diabetes). If it is one or two hours after a meal with some carbs in it, it is fine. Being light headed and having migraines is not necessarily a symptom of diabetes unless it is eithr when you are due to eat or after eating.
Avatar m tn When you say you have frequent urination, do you mean you urinate excessive amounts of urine each time or you just need to make frequent trips to the bathroom, maybe only urinating smaller amounts each time? Your blood sugars sound pretty good to me. Blood sugar in the 80's is perfect - so you were in the 70's and low 90's - it doesn't scream diabetes. And you said you are "somewhat thirsty". Another question: How long have you been in this country?
Avatar n tn Hmm, sorry but I guess I do not understand. Your post says that the discussion is related to "fasting blood sugar levels high in the morning" but all of your information relates to testing blood after meals. Guess that for me it cannot be both. My Diabetes Nurse's instructions for morning fasting blood test are to test the blood "when you awake, before eating or any medication".
455051 tn?1255830118 I have gestational diabetes, but wasn't diagnosed until I was 28 weeks, so if it was high before that I didn't know it. Anyway, my doctor said my blood sugar should be below 95 when I first wake up in the morning, and below 120 two hours after a meal. If yours is consistently higher than that, then I would definately have a talk with your doctor about it. Hope that helps.
686463 tn?1249920379 Lissyloo- I had my U/S last week due to the last U/S done in 18 and 21 weeks of pregnancy. There was some old blood cloth in my placenda and they wanted to check if this get any bigger or not. Thanks God it didnt!!!! Normaly they said I will not have any more U/S unless I will measure wrong in one my doc app. Nsrchofbaby- You can ask them for U/S due to GD. This condition its making your pregnancy high risk and they should monitor you closer, this is what I was told.
Avatar n tn meditate or some other coping skill) Now to address your high fasting blood sugar in the morning ... your body does not burn much energy while you are sleeping so it it very likely that your blood sugar spiked before going to bed. Whatever you are ingesting in the late afternoon and/or evening should be substituted for something light (low carb count and minimal sugar content). Check your blood sugar 2 hrs after your last meal of the day. The reading should not be higher than the A.M.
Avatar f tn that will give you the best info on how well your body processes carbs. With an A1c of 5.5 your in the Pre-diabetes camp. Many of us dont beleave in pre-diabetes, we think your diabetic and your pancreas still works a little.

I have also notice that i spike about 1 hour after eating and come down around 2 hours after which is mostly in the 130. and i notice if i drink a can of pop.
Avatar n tn I tested my blood sugar this morning and it was 105. Would you say this is out of the normal range. I had blood work done about a month ago when I had my annual physical and my sugar level came back at 109. My doctor didn't seem to alarmed.
Avatar f tn Hi, My wife is a diabetic person she is taking januvia 100 mg - one tablet per a day and metaformin 1.5 tablets per day in general her sugar level remains +130 (fasting early morning) TODAY ALL OF SUDDEN SHE DONT FEEL GOOD, WE CHECK HER BLOOD SUGAR WHICH IS ONLY 54 WHAT TO DO ???
Avatar f tn It really depends if u need insulin or pills, if you cant control your blood sugar then you take pills if your blood sugar is not high. But if normally your fasting numbers are high then thats why they put you on insulin. I have a coworker that went straight to insulin and shes a diabetic now but her numbers were crazy high like in the 500 when she did the glucose test. The doc just prob know that pills wont help you.
1448460 tn?1284698067 Prednisone does tend to raise your blood sugar and you should do what you can to keep it down as much as possible. You did not mention if you are on insulin or pills or just diet control. Considering you are only taking prednisone for a very short time, you shouldn't have too much to worry about. If your blood sugar is at that level for a longer period of time that may bring about some damage. Exercise more, if possible, definitely drink lots more water and really watch your diet.
1058898 tn?1275678751 You need to be tested for HA1C, which gives a measure of blood sugar control over the past few months. In the meantime I would strongly suggest that you assume you do have diabetes and adopt the lifestyle (diet and exercise) measures that are necessary to control it.
Avatar m tn Hi there! I would suggest checking the blood sugar levels at around 1-2 a.m. in the morning (4-6 hours after the night dose). If there are low, his night time dose may need to be decreased while if these are high the dose may need to be increased. I would suggest consulting an endocrinologist for suggestion of an appropriate management plan. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
6309520 tn?1380218993 What insulins are you taking. How high is your blood sugar at night vs. morning and the timing for these measurements including when you take the insulin. It may be that your dose needs to be further adjusted. Let us know so we can help you.
