Gestational diabetes blood level

Common Questions and Answers about Gestational diabetes blood level

diabetes

Avatar m tn I bought one of those blood glucose testers and my fasting level was 67 this morning, and it was 91 about 50 minutes after eating. I have tested my blood sugar before because of me being thirsty ALL the time about a month ago. I've never seen a reading above a 90 and I've tested at all times after meals, even after I drank a bunch of sugar to simulate the test...and an hour later my level was 85 or something. I tested about 8 times total last month.
Avatar f tn I am currently 18 weeks and I had my blood work done and my doctor told me my blood sugar level was at 169 and that it was really high. I went back in yesterday and did some more blood work to check if its still the same and I won't hear my results until this coming Thursday. I'm really scared & nervous that I can have gestational diabetes. This is my first pregnancy and I'm only 21 years old. Has anyone had gestational diabetes during pregnancy?
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed as having Borderline Gestational Diabetes (others have refered to it as Impared Fasting and Glucose Intolerance.) I, essentially, failed the three hour Glucose Tolerance Test by only one point (my fasting was 96 instead of 95.) For percautionary measures, my OB had me monitor my blood sugar (with normal diet/excercise) for one week.
Avatar f tn Ok I had my blood work done at week 27 for blood sugar and it was 213 I am scared and dont know what to do. Does anyone know how much it can affect my baby's health. Or chances of any abnormalities? And when does diabetes actually start during preg is it only in 3rd trimester? Or I may have got it earlier than that?
Avatar f tn I have found that the Healthy Choice meals are great, make monitoring my carb intake so easy to manage. I also only had one elevated level (my fasting level) so this can be controlled thru diet.
Avatar n tn Hi Nicollette, Gestational diabetes occurs when women who are not otherwise diabetic develop temporary diabetes (have above normal blood sugar level) while pregnant. When that happens the woman needs to follow a specific diet and may take insulin injections to control her blood sugar. Most of the time this type of diabetes goes away after the pregnancy but in some cases it may continue for longer or you could develop Type 2 diabetes later in life.
8266573 tn?1403140875 I have gestational diabetes and my blood level only goes up when I ate something wrong. I just have to monitor myself and take notes on what I ate that caused it. If it's over 200 that's to high but you should be ok.
Avatar n tn 20.Level was 175. Tested 9:50 level was 112. Than just tested again at 11:45 level was 73....Is this weird? I had eaten nothing since 8:20 this morning..
Avatar n tn Hi guys, I just told that I have gestational diabetes and I am 26 week of pregnant. Any advice on what to eat or do in order to bring that sugar level down, I don't want to do the insulin because it sounds too scary to inject something in your abdomen while pregnant. Help please! !
Avatar f tn Hey everyone, wow its been a long time since I have been on here. I can not believe that I am 25 weeks :). After all the problems I have had or thought I had. I made it to the 25th week but the sad news is that I was diag with gestational diabetes. "My sugar level is running 180-190". I am nervous about what the diabetes can do to my lil girl growing inside me. I read that it can cause a stillborn, or that the baby can be 10pds at delivery.

Avatar f tn I just got diagnosed with gestational diabetes.... anyone have any information? Will this harm my baby?
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with gestational diabetes and on a diet now. I have very high sugar in the morning (fasting) between 6.2-7.8 mmol or 112-140. Do you know how I can control this sugar. I heard that if the fasting sugar level is not controlled, I will be put on insulin which I DONT WANT. I normally take a bed time snack of 6 very thin vegetable thin crackers with a babybel cheese and 1/4 cup 1% milk. I tried eliminating the milk but still the number is not going below 6.2.
Avatar f tn Hello ladies. I'm 28 weeks pregnant and was just diagnosed with gestational diabetes. Hearing the news devastated me. This is my first pregnancy and I know it may sound cliché but I prayed for a normal pregnancy. So now I'm worried because I know if the diabetes gets out of control it can lead to insulin shots and can effect the baby. Have any of you ladies gone through this? Or are currently dealing with this? How are you copping?
Avatar n tn If you get some high numbers occasionally, then you follow by lowering carbohydrate counts in order to help your body process the carbs you eat while pregnant. Gestational diabetes happens because the hormones that are elevated when you are pregnant block the effectiveness of the insulin you produce (in some women more than in others), and it is almost always a temporary thing that goes back to normal after the baby is born. It sounds as if your doctor is being cautious, which is good.
2186195 tn?1339434222 So i found out about a week and a half ago I have gestational diabetes. I saw the nutritionist and she gave me a diet to follow. she gave me ideas on what foods to eat, but basically said I can eat anything just watch the carbs. I am supposed to eat 30carbs for breakfast, 60carbs for lunch and dinner, and 3 snacks that are 30carbs each. I am to check my blood sugar 4 times a day, and it should stay between 60-90 in the morning and 90-120 all day.
Avatar f tn So I failed the 3 hour glucose test and they said I have gestational diabetes, I have been keeping track of what I eat , highest my blood sugar has been was 170 and that was 1 hour after eating some cereal with honey normal rang it has been running tho is 85 to 100. They say baby is fine and at the right growth rate but they keep freaking me out with this , if baby is fine I'm fine I have always eaten healthy and didn't have this with my first pregnancy.
Avatar f tn My obgyn office says I have gestational diabetes, even though my blood sugars (tested for a week because I refused the glucose test) are within range of non-diabetic pregnant women according to the American Diabetes Association. I don't shoot up and down either, my sugars are fairly steady. Has this happened to anyone else and what did you do?
Avatar f tn I currently found out I have gestational diabetes, just got my set today.. it's kind of depressing for me.. I know it will leave with the placenta once I have my baby. just want to know if anyone else is going through this? I'm 35 weeks today!
Avatar f tn Just found out I have gestational diabetes.... Does anyone have any tips or advice???

I was diagnosed with having gestational diabetes when i was 28 weeks...my numbers were up only by few...around 5-10 more...i am now on strict diet and i am able to control my blood sugar well except for my fasting level...it is usually more than 95 but less than 100...but my two hour numbers are within normal limits...it is usually less than 125...i do walk a lot...i walk an hour after each meal, but i am scared about my morning numbers...
Avatar f tn I am little worried when doctor discussed me about the complications.. What food habits has to be changed or incorporated to reduce this diabetes level? Any exercises that you people do?
8526246 tn?1405605476 I have type 2 diabetes my whole pregnancy and my baby will be almost 9lbs if I make it to 39 weeks. I'm having a c-section but it's because of a previous c-section and a hernia operation I had, nothing to do with me having diabetes. If you have GD it will, no matter what, cause your baby to be bigger cause the extra insulin you create leaks through the placenta which causes baby's heart to thicken, which causes them to grow faster. Their body not their organs.
Avatar n tn I had Gestational and had a very strict diet plus a monitor to use at home 5x/day to test my blood level. They rent you the monitor and you use these little strips with one tiny drop of blood (stick your finger, ouch). Anyway the tricky thing with eating for GD is that simple carbohydrates turn into sugars in your blood. So while of course you don't want to be eating 'sugar' you really have to do other stuff too.
Avatar n tn does any one have gestational diabetes in 3rd month and went on to have a healthy baby..Some of my friends r scaring me too much that I am unable to sleep properly in the nights..Is it something that I should worry about??Everything is fine except this diabetes??any suggestions would be appreciated..
