diabetes

Avatar f tn This would involve evaluation of c-peptide, antibodies, and insulin levels correlated with blood sugar levels. Type 1 is lack of insulin (and needs injected insulin), Type 2 is plenty of insulin, but there is insulin resistance and the insulin is not effective. For Type 2, oral meds may be appropriate. If it is adult onset type 1, it may develop quickly. Therefore, I suggest your read up on syptoms of both type 1 and type 2 and if you develop symptoms then you must go to your Dr.
Avatar m tn Hello, his blood sugar levels are very high and he will get complications if this is maintained. This may contribute to how he is feeling, or there may be some other problem going on. We cannot give medical advice here, and your father's situation means he should see his Dr. for further evaluation and assistance. Please go back to his doctor and report how he is feeling, and request proper assessment of his healthy and adjustment of his medications.
Avatar n tn The symptoms you describe I think have more to do with high blood sugar than the type of diabetes. Which insulin(s) are you currently taking? With insulin you should be able to get your blood sugars under control pretty quickly. I would have the antibody test done as soon as you can.

Avatar f tn I have Type 1 Diabetes and have very high blood sugar ( in the 400-600 range). I take 5 shots of insulin a day but am insulin resistant. Had 4 drinks and got pulled over and got a DWI. I'm wondering if there is any correlation between having a high blood alcohol content and high blood sugar, as high blood sugar turns into alcohol. Anyone know?
Avatar n tn t know how you are currently treating your diabetes, but when blood sugars are extremely elevated for long periods of time in Type 2 diabetics, insulin injections may be recommended to help lower the blood sugars. I know how scary injections can be to a Type 2, but if that is what your doctor ultimately recommends, I promise you that it will be better than how you are probably feeling now and certainly beter than having some of the complications that can occur from prolonged high blood sugars.

Avatar n tn is it possible in severe cases of hypoglycemia for diabetes-type symptoms to occur when the sugar level gets too high, or would they only happen when the sugar gets below the normal level?
Avatar f tn Usually, when extra weight is a factor, the reason for type 2 diabetes is high levels of free fatty acids and triglycerides in the blood (they interfere with glucose absorption in muscle cells). The only sure way to lower the levels of fatty acids and triglycerides in the blood is to get rid of excess body fat. Then muscle cells will be able to feed on glucose unimpeded and this will lead to its lower level in the blood.
Avatar f tn I too have Type 2 diabetes. And it is a constant battle against sugar and gaining weight. Diabetes86 is right, there is really no silver bullet. Just got to keep on working at finding what works for you.
Avatar m tn One can typically prevent type 2 diabetes by lifestyle choices of proper weight, exercise and eating habits. This is considered non insulin diabetes. With type 2 diabetes, blood sugar is too high. The body doesn't make insulin well anymore or use it well. It's usually slow developing and can be reversed. I hope this answers your question. 1806721 tn?1554333407 Also not mentioned, the FDA is eliminating the risk of liver damage from the list of side effects and that the link to Memory loss, confusion, high blood sugar, and type 2 diabetes are not proven, only an observation and NO LINK HAS BEEN PROVEN. This is typical anti statin rhetoric with only part of the data being given and the rest either ignored or taken out of context.

Avatar n tn When someone is diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, there blood sugar would be higher than the normal range. High blood sugar symptoms include: - hunger (increased appetite) - extreme thirst - frequent urination (as well as large amounts) - fatigue / drowsiness - blurred vision My son was asking for drinks at a rate where I could barely keep up. He was a 3 yr. old that was telling me, fill my cup up, up, all the way up, and then he would guzzle it down and beg for more.
