I have to clear my throat constantly it gets worse after eat. My voice gets very hoarse at times from clearing/coughing my throat. It's been going on for 8 months and it's driving me nuts.When I lay down to go to sleep it totally goes away when I get up the clearing of the throat begins again. I've seen a lung specialist, an allergist, an ENT, I've had a chest x-ray, an upper GI series all normal. Anybody out there that can help me. I'm at the end of my rope.

About two weeks ago I suffered from a head cold with blowing out green mucus, coughing up mucus, and etc etc. This past weekend the symptoms improved drastically but for the past couple of days I still have slight congestion with clear mucus and I'm constantly clearing my throat? I have no other symptom and don't even feel sick anymore. Is this kind of like my body getting over the cold or what?
I know that throat clearing was one of my major complaints over the decades when I was HCV positive. Since SVR (five years ago) most of my throat clearing has vanished. I have seen accounts of several others on the forum who have been bothered by this same issue. Mine felt like there was a thick, clingy mucous attached to the vocal cords. NOTHING would dislodge it, and clearing the throat was pretty futile. It often interfered with my ability to speak normally.
my 7 year old daughter has chronic throat clearing. she would do this about 1000 times a day. its just all the time until she falls asleep. this follows a type of virus where she had a cough for 5-6 weeks. coughing so bad that she would sometimes vomit. 3 times we saw a doctor and every time there was a different verdict. from asthma to a virus to possible whooping cough. she was put on 2 different types of antibiotics of which neither did any good.
I had cold/flu in Dec 2007, since then i've been clonstantly clearing my throat of phlegm, it is clear phlegm. I'm not sure i'm meant to cough it up or not, but i'm scared to swallow it made me gag and a few months after my cold which scared me.
This morning, I cleared my throat as usual, but 3 times there were traces of blood in it. It's still clear but just with little bits of blood in it, one was a streak of blood. There was alot more clear phlegm.
i do drink plenty fluids during the day, i dont smoke only have a drink at weekends and i eat a well balanced diet also my voice is croaky when i talk and find myself clearing my throat and sometimes have coughing fits i feel like from time to time ive something stuck in my throat a feeling like ive swollowed a tablet and its not quite gone down.
i do throat clearing all the time .more throat clearing after eating. as if a small mucus is stucked in my throat,which is not comming out.i was admitted for this in hospital.they have lots of tests including ct scan of chest,mri scan of throat,barium meal,endoscopy,24 hr esophagal ph monitoring,usg,blood tests.all are normal.no GERD.what should i do now?

Recently, i have had continuous flow of mucus and clearing throat of mucus. Exposure to air while driving causes a continuous clearing of throat and mucus. Last week it seems to be getting worst as i find myself coughing for no reason, pain in my throat, vomiting and shortness of breath some times with a bout of hot flash.. I now have to travel with a bottle of water. Everything does not subside until i clear my throat fully of mucus. During this time, i cannot speak until i clear my throat.
t know how to explain this process, but when I hack up my phlegm its not by coughing, its by breathing in and clearing my throat (It sounds nasty and ugly) and bringing out of my nose sort of. It was strings of blood. And every since then I have been having when I blow my nose blood. And now I'm hacking up strings of blood. Sometimes its blood strings, and others are just yellow or clear mucus. But its not like I cough up really bad and blood comes out.

Treated for bronchitis twice at holidays and still coughing and clearing my throat. Now have left side rib discomfort. Taking Prilosec as dr said maybe refux. Nothing seems to help. Chest xray clear. Blood work was good. What should I do next? I'm at my wits end and worried. Any ideas or suggestions welcomed!

The most common silent reflux symptoms are hoarseness of voice, sinusitis, chronic cough, throat-clearing, post-nasal drip, sore throat, difficulty swallowing, shortness of breath etc. Other causes of blood in phlegm are bronchitis, throat infections, bronchiectasis etc.It is suggested to see an ENT specialist and get examined. You may need tests like complete blood counts, ESR,endoscopy and X-ray chest. Treatment will depend on the underlying cause. Keep me posted on how you are doing.
For 2 years I have had a significant problem with sinus drainage, coughing and consistent clearing of my throat. By half way through the day my throat hurts so bad that it is hard to talk. What can I do. I've seen and ENT dr twice and an allergy specialist. The latest option the ENT dr. gave me was to try some medication Omeprazole for acid reflux even though I have no issues with that. What can I do?

For several years I have had what I thought was chest/throat congestion, to the extent that I was constantly clearing my throat and coughing. I just saw one of the best ENTs on the west coast and just from my description of my symptops, he accurately predicted other symptoms and details, as well as what he would see when he looked down my throat.
Turns out, what I have is LPR (laryngopharyngeal) reflux.
Can you please help in regards of constant mucous in my throat it feels like i have a lump that i need to spit out all the time also i am continually clearing coughing to clear this is so annoying and that i am always trying swallow and then it is back with in seconds if you could help it would be appreciated.
infact, i found that it was extremely worse when i smoked. as soon as i quit smoking, i quit coughing and clearing my throat all the time. sometimes ( mostly during the pollen seasons and other times when i am around allergens) i still do have to clear my throat a lot, and also find myself swallowing a lot because i feel like something is back there. it can get really annoying.
