I don't know if this is pertinent, but Advair caused such extreme coughing (almost incapacitating bronchitis) that I stopped using it. As for Spiriva, I find it extremely drying. I only use it every fourth day. On that regimen it helps. My lung health is actually much better and I am more comfortable since I gave up Advair, and my coughing is moderate. Advair also caused me to develop adrenal fatigue, which was quite dreadful, and I am still recovering from it.

The chronic cough and shortness of breath are common side effects of Inf/Riba. You might talk to your doctor about taking an antihistamine to reduce the post nasal drip and cough reflex. I take claritin which helps this.

My son who is 12 is having episodes of coughing up blood every 60 days --it started in March of 2012 -- it sometimes starts with sharp pains in his right side (front) -- or sometimes he just coughs up blood -- the coughing up of blood lasts for about 20 mins -- he coughs up about 1/2 of a specimen container of blood -- he says it feels like there is something he needs to cough up -- he coughs -- not too hard - and then spits into a cup and it is blood.
I have bronchial asthma and every blood pressure medicine I have taken causes a constant cough and wheezing. Are there any medications I can take that doesn't cause these side effects? I have tried ToProl, Lisinipril, Tekturna, and now am on Verapamil Extended Release.

Hi there I would go to gp blood in saliva could be due to chest infection,coughing too much thus bursting tiny vessels in throat(not serious) if you have severe gastric disorder it could be coming from gastric is the blood bright red? If so this is prob due to strain from coughing,is the blood brown in colour if so this is old blood and should be checked out ASAP are you on medications that could be making gums bleed thus leaving slight blood in your salvia.

Anyways. For background info, I do have asthma and am prone to sinus infections. For the past couple of days, my throat has been sore. I haven't really had to cough, but I have had to clear my throat sometimes. It also feels like I have to...it's not coughing it up, but get up somehow phlegm.

Well, if you are coughing up blood, a responsible adult in your life should be told so you can be seen by a doctor. I doubt I have to state the obvious that inhalation of smoke from weed isn't good for you. but coughing up blood is something that requires medical care so you need to talk to your parents about seeing a doctor.
and i started coughing small amounts of blood....today was worse...as i coughed up 3 times (maybe violently) but there was blood in it...and also when i blow my nose....also when i spit normally the first spit is normal, second one is little orangish, and after that blood...they said it could be gum problem. so please if anyone can give me some advice? i am scheduled to go to a capital city hospital to see better ENT doctor who ll tell me about my sinus and nasopharynx problems..
irritation of the throat from violent coughing, blood clot in the lung, bronchiectasis, bronchitis, cancer, cystic fibrosis, inflammation of the blood vessels in the lung, nosebleeds, pneumonia, tuberculosis or inhaling blood into the lungs.
