About two weeks ago I suffered from a head cold with blowing out green mucus, coughing up mucus, and etc etc. This past weekend the symptoms improved drastically but for the past couple of days I still have slight congestion with clear mucus and I'm constantly clearing my throat? I have no other symptom and don't even feel sick anymore. Is this kind of like my body getting over the cold or what?
I have to clear my throat constantly it gets worse after eat. My voice gets very hoarse at times from clearing/coughing my throat. It's been going on for 8 months and it's driving me nuts.When I lay down to go to sleep it totally goes away when I get up the clearing of the throat begins again. I've seen a lung specialist, an allergist, an ENT, I've had a chest x-ray, an upper GI series all normal. Anybody out there that can help me. I'm at the end of my rope.
For 2 years I have had a significant problem with sinus drainage, coughing and consistent clearing of my throat. By half way through the day my throat hurts so bad that it is hard to talk. What can I do. I've seen and ENT dr twice and an allergy specialist. The latest option the ENT dr. gave me was to try some medication Omeprazole for acid reflux even though I have no issues with that. What can I do?
my 7 year old daughter has chronic throat clearing. she would do this about 1000 times a day. its just all the time until she falls asleep. this follows a type of virus where she had a cough for 5-6 weeks. coughing so bad that she would sometimes vomit. 3 times we saw a doctor and every time there was a different verdict. from asthma to a virus to possible whooping cough. she was put on 2 different types of antibiotics of which neither did any good.
For the past several weeks I have had what seems to be a constant over-production of mucus draining in my throat. It's like I have to clear my throat every few minutes -- VERY ANNOYING!! Now my throat is getting sore from all the clearing and I'm waking up at night coughing from that 'tickling' sensation in the back of my throat.
For several years I have had what I thought was chest/throat congestion, to the extent that I was constantly clearing my throat and coughing. I just saw one of the best ENTs on the west coast and just from my description of my symptops, he accurately predicted other symptoms and details, as well as what he would see when he looked down my throat.
Turns out, what I have is LPR (laryngopharyngeal) reflux.
My 10 yr. old son has been constantly clearing his throat for what seems like forever. He does not have any signs of a cold, sinus infection, allergies or anything of the sort. He's the picture of health. He does have what appears to me to be an elongated uvula (drags the back of his tongue) but he says it feels like he has something in the back of his throat that needs coughed up. Nothing ever does come up and he has no nasal drip. I've looked at his throat and everything looks good.
coughs several times and then seems to have to dig into his throat for a final clearing cough although nothing is produced. Has no heart problems. is running around on his walks like a 2 year old. Does not cough as much when out walking. My vet seemed to think it was nothing and he has suffered from little warts, one of which had to be taken off in an operation. Found nothing in his throat then. lives inside and is looked after.
infact, i found that it was extremely worse when i smoked. as soon as i quit smoking, i quit coughing and clearing my throat all the time. sometimes ( mostly during the pollen seasons and other times when i am around allergens) i still do have to clear my throat a lot, and also find myself swallowing a lot because i feel like something is back there. it can get really annoying.
Still improving but i feel my lymphs are swollen and scratching to top back of throat and sides, clearing throat, chest pressure. I hope its not a cyst but this is allergy season. I also have found out i have a goiter with nodules so i am going to have further test done. i would also check yourself for reflux and have your thyroid sono done.
i do throat clearing all the time .more throat clearing after eating. as if a small mucus is stucked in my throat,which is not comming out.i was admitted for this in hospital.they have lots of tests including ct scan of chest,mri scan of throat,barium meal,endoscopy,24 hr esophagal ph monitoring,usg,blood tests.all are normal.no GERD.what should i do now?

I didn't cough either when I quit even though I was coughing like crazy when I smoked. Like you, I kept expecting to cough up a bunch of gunk, but it never happened. I even asked my doc about it and she said this was normal.
I starting having this ticking feeling in my chest and sometimes I would get a sensation of a lump in chest/throat. I find myslef coughing and clearing my throat a lot. I already saw a doctor but at the time my only symptom was shortness of breath and they checked my lungs witch was fine. I tried taking tums but didn't really help much. Does this sound like GERD?? Please help.

Recently, i have had continuous flow of mucus and clearing throat of mucus. Exposure to air while driving causes a continuous clearing of throat and mucus. Last week it seems to be getting worst as i find myself coughing for no reason, pain in my throat, vomiting and shortness of breath some times with a bout of hot flash.. I now have to travel with a bottle of water. Everything does not subside until i clear my throat fully of mucus. During this time, i cannot speak until i clear my throat.

I do have a few other silent reflux symptoms like clearing throat, dry cough and recently light sore or scratchy throat, but from what I've read the "lump" from silent reflux doesn't go away after swallowing. It does seem to get a little better after taking omeprazole 20, but it is still happening. I read a lot of people with a lump but mine isn't a lump. Any ideas?

m concerned about the coughing and constant clearing my throat because of mucus build up. I will visit my doctor again. I have been on birth control for the past 2 yrs and well i dont know if its the reason for this sudden mucus (sliding down the back of my throat and sticking there) and cough problem im experiencing because from my research it was shown that birth control can can cause a post nasal drip because of the amount of female hormone increases in the body.
I've had this constant throat clearing for a few years now, since I was 14-15. It feels like a tickle in the middle of my throat, and when I try to clear it out, it comes right back. I clear it out like every 5-10 seconds. It happens occasionally after I eat, not very much, and more likely to happen after I eat when I consume dairy products. Never usually happens whenever I'm standing or sitting. But it always happens whenever I lay down or sleep and keeps me up for a good few hours.
