When I say uncontolable I mean she was coughing non stop for hours at a time. He put her on an antibiotic (zpack) and gave her cough medicine with codine. 5 days later she was not any better. Brought her back to the doctors and they did a test for whooping cough(have to wait 2 weeks for the results) and a chest x-ray, which was fine and put her on steriods. A week later she was still not better. She was seen by a pulmonary specialist this morning. They do not know whats wrong with her.
Yup, I've had that on and off for years. There are two possible reasons I can think of. First, your autonomic (small fiber) nerves are involved in breathing, so you can have trouble breathing with small fiber neuropathy. The other possibility is that it's from whatever is destroying your small fiber nerves. For instance, I have Sjogren's, which can mess with lungs/breathing.
I don't know if its considered as a cold & flu but I've been coughing for two weeks now. It all started from me throwing up then a day later I started coughing non-stop. The coughing is starting to hurt my lower right and left abdominal region. I don't weather to go to doctor to get it check or just wait it out to allow it to heal.
Hello, I've had a constant cough for the past 2 weeks that just won't go away, it's to the point where I'm hardly getting any sleep and it's really becoming a problem. when I breath in a tickle develops in the back of my throat and that's what is causing me to cough. Just today I also found tilting my head back will cause me to cough also almost uncontrollably. If anyone else has experienced this and knows what it is I'd really appreciate a reply.
Go to a doctor! You should have gone when it persisted for more than a few days. Coughing up blood could be a lot of things. The one that immediately comes to mind is tuberculosis. If it is, you'll need a year, I believe it is, of antibiotics (do take the ENTIRE course even when you feel better, if you do end up with this or we can end up with another drug-resistant strain). Even if it wasn't one of those two, coughing up blood is not a good thing.
Has anyone tried using a netipot to relieve these symptoms? I have had the same problem for exactly a year now and it's really become unbearable. I feel a constant tightness in my throat and every time I swallow, I have coughing fits.Throughout the day I will have to clear my throat and i always have clear mucus to clear. It's made it to the point where I don't looking forward to meals anymore b/c I know what to expect.
the doc said its not because of the lymph node, may be due to weather change or something and she told to have NYQUIL syrup for cough. I did use it for 1 week everyday and still the cough is there. so i went to my PCP again and i told her about everything happend after the 1st visit. she said that might be due to lmyph node. she told me if there is some infection then it gets bigger to fight the infection. this time she gave me Amoxycillin for 10 days.
My mum has had a cough for just over 10 years now. She can link it back to when my niece was christened and to the best of my knowledge nothing significant happened on that day.
There are times when it is unbearable not just for her but all our family. Please dont take this the wrong way as I love mum dearly but sometimes I have to shut my bedroom door as the cough is constant and trying to enjoy the comforts can sometimes be impossible which begs the question, what is it like for her??!
I would take her to her physician as soon as you are able, it is certainly not healthy for her to keep coughing and vomiting. The coughing will hurt her insides if it is too strong and vomiting will prevent her from getting her much needed nutrients from food, etc.
I really am not able to tell you what it is, it could be a number of things, and, as I said, it would be best if she saw a doctor.
Please let me know the outcome, I know she must be miserable.
I have had a dry cough for about four years now. Lately, it's sometimes a productive cough. I was told I have asthma and I get sinus infections. I use an inhaler (Combivent) but that doesn't stop the coughing. It will get so bad that I will start to gag. One interesting thing is that when I lay down, I have no inclination to cough. Could it be my tonsils? Should I see an ENT?
I too have had a cough for 7 weeks straight - went on a cruise in this time 87 temps laid in the sun, tried to drink it out one night, been to the dr 4xs already they have had me on z-pak, anti, cough syrup, cough pills, puffer, nasal stuff, over the counter meds, zzzz-quil to sleep, night quil and motrin for the pain in my rib cage from coughing. From coughing so much with the bad attacks I loose my bladder now from this ongoing issue. Feels like i have something in my throat.
I'm coughing and choking on whatever is in my throat sometimes I an move it by coughing and blowing my nose even though it comes back seconds after I'm also wrenching in between coughing, I've start choking and passing out I'm so scared I Carnot eat anything are drink anything without coughing and choking I have to sleep sat up on settee and that's after been awake for days with coughing Ian no quality of life at all I hate being alive its that bad!
hi, Im a 23 year old male and for the last 3 or so years I have a constant cough. I cough every 15-30 seconds sometimes longer time spans on a good day. I have a girlfriend that I have been with for almost 2 1/2 years now and I love her more than anything and plan on marrying her within the next year or two, but the coughing is getting to her. Its the reason for most of our fights now. I need help because if I dont get this figured out I'm afraid I will loose her.
Three years ago I was diagnosed with LPR after coughing for a year. I am coughing again now since before Christmas, so had another endoscopy. The biopsies showed that my esophagus is lined with eosinophils. The doctor didn't think it was eosinophilic esophagitis because my main symptom is coughing. I have had choking issues but it is not a constant thing. I have had eosinophilc pneumonia and also am hypothyroid and have interstitial cystitis.
So a little background information, I was bulimic for many years, from around age 12 till age 23, with a few years of recovery in there. I’ve been recovered for over a year now. At the end of February I had what my doctor thought was a stomach virus, with really bad stomach pain, diarrhea, vomiting. I got over that in a few days, but the stomach pain lingered and I lost my appetite for a while and it hasn’t come back fully.
For 2 years now I have been inflicted with a condition I need help with. I have a continuing buildup of thick heavy phlegm which I have extreme difficulty coughing up even using Mucinex. It goes on all day and all night. I am getting little to no sleep and am wearing down. I have gone to numerous Doctors and emergency room visits. They just give me more prescriptions for antibiotics and different steroidal inhalers and have also told me to use Mucinex.
Hey all, i'm a 23M and i've experienced a constant tickling cough for about ... actually a little over a year now. Every time i cough i produce some type of mucus that is always clear or almost white and usually very thick. I've been to a few doctors but never had any tests done really besides xrays and doctors listening to my lungs and all that stuff.
