Avatar n tn I've got a bad one too, what area are you from? My cough is from all the fires around me.
Avatar n tn Coughing changes blood flow and blood pressure from its intensity and therefore different people experience different other effects, such as headaches after coughing. This is not uncommon. I hope this helps you to understand coughing a little better.
Avatar f tn But what I've finally been told from a cough phyciatrist at Mayo Clinc in Rochester, that I've been coughing so much, part of it is a HABIT. When I feel a cough coming on, I do the relaxing breathing. Breath from your nose (but from your stomach, not your chest), then blow out thru your mouth, but very slowly. It will take a little while, but my cough finally is not that bad. This helped cure my cough of many many years!
Avatar f tn Cough meds, bronchial dilators, Asthma meds., steroids when necessary, etc. Respiratory Diseases cause coughing....Asthma & Bronchitis are treated with the same meds as Trachea Collapse. This is more of a dry cough with wheezing at times or both....With this, sometimes the Heart shows enlargement, but it is not a Heart Problem! It's from lack of oxygen through the respiratory system.....Steroids are useful as needed for allergy season that can be a trigger.....
Avatar n tn Hi there is a young man in my team who suffers with asthma but he does not smoke, he does however sit next to another young man that does smoke and has complained about the smell when he returns from his breaks, can you please confirm if there is any medical evidence that shows that the smell of smoke lingering on the smokers clothes will effect the young man with asthma?
Avatar f tn Try to hydrate BEFORE you smoke. Drink lots of water and eat a good meal. Smoke your weed in smaller amounts over a longer period. Otherwise your body is kind of reacting in shock to getting high. I use to get horrible pains in my left shoulder every single time i smokes. Eventually i realized I wasn't very healthy in other areas of my life. pot was just bringing out those flaws.

Avatar n tn she takes 1 tsp of allegra as needed. my in laws smoke. they do not smoke in the house when she is there, but the house still smells of smoke. I make sure I give her allegra before she visits. sometimes she's okay afterwards. she spent the weekend and now she is coughing and has been snoring badly. 144586 tn?1284669764 The lessons learned are that the effects of carbon monoxide (or low oxygen) on judgement, reasoning and coordination are not always apparant when you are experiencing them. Be prepared in a fire, if exposed to high levels of smoke and carbon monoxide to experience considerable degradation of mental abilities before actually losing consciousness.
Avatar n tn It is not clear why you are experiencing such a problem, particularly when you are not being exposed. It might be worthwhile to go to a place that has no smoking at all for a weekend and see if the same symptoms occur. If they do not occur, this would lead to recent exposures being the reason for having these sensations. If they continue to occur without exposure, it is very hard to understand the cause.
Avatar m tn Try to avoid the nasal irritants such as cigarette smoke, perfume, aerosol sprays, smoke, smog and car exhaust. If it persists, it is best that you have this checked by your doctor for proper evaluation. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn My problem is I am extremely sensitive to smell of smoke. I constantly smell smoke in my office (despite having my own room), I can smell the after smoke body odor of my co-workers. Specially if they walk-by, It is like a trail of smoke. I try putting up a fan, blow it inward or outward to circulate the air, it makes no difference. I have no right to stop my co-workers from smoking. Is there anything I can do to get rid of the smell (other than quitting my job) ?
Avatar f tn You'll find there is more dairy in foods than you realize. OR take it whenever you feel the sensation in your throat. Also, it helps if you cut out cheese, ice cream, milk altogether. I have switched to Lactaid Milk. Also, for me, it helps if I cut down on all sugars - not just lactose. FULL DISCLOSURE: I am not a doctor do go see yours. Happy sleeping.
Avatar n tn Hi...when I read your post I thought of the times I've smelled smoke. It's been 3 times I think in the last few months. I asked my wife if she smelled it and she said no. It happened everytime after I woke up. I have epilepsy and think that I had seizure activity and that's what caused it. That was all part of the smell/taste something weird part of it. Have you had an EEG?
Avatar n tn Am 18 year old and i smoke for about 3 years i stop smoking then when my family issue started again i start smoking again. am trying to quit but i cant stop coughing and my chest hurts . what should i do. i have no prob.
Avatar f tn There are other means to loose weight rather choosing to smoke especially when you have an asthmatic wife. Do you know what its like to have someone who smokes breathe over you, or want to kiss you, or even touch you, its gross and disgusting. At first he took more care to cover it up, but now it is less and less to the point if he doesn't wash up afterward and I say something he sometimes is resentful. Well too bad. I didn't sign up to live with a smoker.
Avatar n tn You know when you have a candle burning for awhile and then you blow it out - that smell has been driving me crazy. I suffer from migraines - from time to time (however as I am going through menapause they are less frequent. I have hypothyroidism aka (Hasimoto's Thyroiditis) since I was 33 (now 50).
Avatar n tn In your case, association with various agents in smoking, sensitized the body and therefore interaction with even one of the various components that make up the smoke may have induced this sensation of smoke around you. Hope this will help you understand the cause of this strange sensation.
Avatar f tn I am confused about the nurse you mentioned. Is this a nurse that you talked with at a doctor's visit or someone you know? You should be seeing a physician at this point if you have not already like ASAP.
Avatar f tn I also got coughing so hard I coughed up/vommited mucous 3 times and it was very thick. When I start coughing it's hard to stop and I feel like i can't breath. This morning I thought it might have gone away and I feel a little better but I still can't take a full deep breath without coughing, I've looked up symptoms and think it might possibly be bronchitis?
Avatar n tn That one place unfortunatly is grandpa and grandma's. What do you do? They do not smoke when she is there, but smoke alot otherwise and the house is full of smoke and of course they smell of smoke. Grandma lights candles, I think she thinks it helps. Anyway. Since birth Payton has has several reactions to it. Our Dr asked us if we smoked and we told him no. He asked if she was exposed to it and then we discused it.
Avatar m tn Well, if you are coughing up blood, a responsible adult in your life should be told so you can be seen by a doctor. I doubt I have to state the obvious that inhalation of smoke from weed isn't good for you. but coughing up blood is something that requires medical care so you need to talk to your parents about seeing a doctor.
Avatar n tn This might be related to the way in which you use your voice when you're on the phone. You might try a few sessions of voice therapy. A good voice therapist will be able to discover what you're doing with your voice when you're talking on the phone. He/she will be able to retrain you to speak more normally when on the phone. You may be straining your voice without realizing it.
Avatar f tn It may be that your cough reflex was suppressed by the cigarette smoke when you were smoking and with smoking cessation it has regenerated to clear the excess mucus from your lungs. However, you should not assume that that is the problem. It may be that the cause of your cough is unrelated to smoking cessation. Possibly it is caused by another lung disease.
Avatar n tn when you say ill, what do you mean? what symptoms are present in your child?
1909286 tn?1379438737 addicted2long - no I don't smoke, but the way I'm coughing you'd think I do! Northeast - I guess you kinda got lucky and just had the cough without the sneezing, gosh you should hear me...I cough and sneeze at the same time!...lol!..........
Avatar m tn before i stopped smoking i was coughing alot through the day,now i breath eazier, cough a few times through the day,its a dry cough, when do your lung start cleaning the **** out, arent you ment to start coughing your lungs out when u stop smoking?
Avatar f tn When I normally smoke a lot during the evening when I wake up I remove clear phlegm with a bit black or something. The reality is, that whatever rubish it is that is coming out of our lungs means that our lungs are not very clean and we should take this seriously. I understand and also suffer from smoking addiction but we need to use this as motivation to make us quit before its too late. On the other hand, you could only benefit if you ask your doctor about it.
Avatar m tn However, a cracked rib is quite painful, and to sleep at night is almost impossible without pain killers. Also when you try to take deep breaths it is very painful and almost impossible to do. You might very well have strained a muscle. Good on you for quitting smoking. I've heard that the lungs spend some time clearing themselves of the excess mucous that has built up over time.
Avatar n tn i don't think the cough had anything to do with it, but im not a doctor, it may of been just a happen around the time you coughed. have you had unperotected sex with anyone? do call a doctor ask them what to do.
