Common Questions and Answers about Constant coughing for months

coughing

Avatar m tn This continued to help a little, but did not stop the coughing. At that point, I had had this cough for about 4 months. That was about 6 months ago. Since then the coughing as not gotten much better, or worse, but I still am coughing an abnormal amount. I have also gained about 20 pounds since getting married, and been experiencing a lot of heartburn. I initially started getting the heartburn while on the steroids, but it has not gone away after getting off them.
Avatar n tn my 19 month son has constant coughing at night only sometimes he cough so much he throws up... what should i do i went to see many doctors they told me he was fine but hes been coughing only at night for 1 month now.
Avatar n tn When I say uncontolable I mean she was coughing non stop for hours at a time. He put her on an antibiotic (zpack) and gave her cough medicine with codine. 5 days later she was not any better. Brought her back to the doctors and they did a test for whooping cough(have to wait 2 weeks for the results) and a chest x-ray, which was fine and put her on steriods. A week later she was still not better. She was seen by a pulmonary specialist this morning. They do not know whats wrong with her.
Avatar m tn I don't know if its considered as a cold & flu but I've been coughing for two weeks now. It all started from me throwing up then a day later I started coughing non-stop. The coughing is starting to hurt my lower right and left abdominal region. I don't weather to go to doctor to get it check or just wait it out to allow it to heal.
Avatar n tn I would take her to her physician as soon as you are able, it is certainly not healthy for her to keep coughing and vomiting. The coughing will hurt her insides if it is too strong and vomiting will prevent her from getting her much needed nutrients from food, etc. I really am not able to tell you what it is, it could be a number of things, and, as I said, it would be best if she saw a doctor. Please let me know the outcome, I know she must be miserable.
Avatar m tn Has anyone tried using a netipot to relieve these symptoms? I have had the same problem for exactly a year now and it's really become unbearable. I feel a constant tightness in my throat and every time I swallow, I have coughing fits.Throughout the day I will have to clear my throat and i always have clear mucus to clear. It's made it to the point where I don't looking forward to meals anymore b/c I know what to expect.
Avatar f tn The cold got better but then I began to develop this dry cough. I was there for 2 months or so, when I got back I went to the doctors. They said that nothing was wrong and that I could still have a little infection. He prescribed more antibiotics. I know that antibiotics don't really serve for anything b/c colds/flu/etc are viral not bacterial. Before, I use to cough frequently near the end of summer and through the winter, during that time I usually get a cold due to the weather.
981046 tn?1248587175 My wife developed a constant dry cough several months ago. This cough continues day and night and she continues to cough on the average of 15 to 30 times an hour. She was diagnosed with allergies about two months ago and since then has been getting weekly shots.I am skeptical that the shots are doing anything but emptying our bank account! She continues to have a chronic cough and we have not noticed any improvement.
Avatar f tn Go to a doctor! You should have gone when it persisted for more than a few days. Coughing up blood could be a lot of things. The one that immediately comes to mind is tuberculosis. If it is, you'll need a year, I believe it is, of antibiotics (do take the ENTIRE course even when you feel better, if you do end up with this or we can end up with another drug-resistant strain). Even if it wasn't one of those two, coughing up blood is not a good thing.
Avatar n tn I have had mine for over 9 months anti biotics work for a short while then its back, I put mine down to environmental allergies, caused by the aerial spraying they are doing ...
Avatar n tn Hey all, i'm a 23M and i've experienced a constant tickling cough for about ... actually a little over a year now. Every time i cough i produce some type of mucus that is always clear or almost white and usually very thick. I've been to a few doctors but never had any tests done really besides xrays and doctors listening to my lungs and all that stuff.
Avatar n tn Brown, I was diagnosed with vitreous detachment, but the optometrist said it would resolve itself in time. I think what caused it was the constant, forceful coughing I did during a recent bout with bronchitis, (??). It has been 6 months, at least and I see no relief. I can't wear my contacts because the lens in the right eye (the one with the problem) only magnifies the blurring.
Avatar n tn I have been coughing for 9 months. My nose runs, eyes water, sneeze and cough until I vomit. Have had CT head scan and allergy test. This discussion is related to Wife Has been coughing for 8 months..
Avatar n tn Seemed to be only chest tightness, and an almost constant dry cough- rarely productive. I was already taking antihistamine daily for allergies. Went to the doctor after about 30 days. He gave Asmanex, a Medrol 6 day dose pack, Nexium, and upped to an ant-histamine with decongestant (Claritin-D generic equivalent.) After approaching 30 days, the cough is much less frequent and chest tightness is relieved somehwhat- but not gone.
Avatar n tn I have been coughing for nearly 3 months now, and its driving me mad...i have been on 2 lots of steriods, 2 lots of antibiotics and my inhalers, but still have this loud dry cough. I feel as if my insides are pushing themselves out as my upper tummy area is swollen, i think from coughing too much. Iam also feeling tiered thoughout the day, but my main concern is the cough which also affects me in the night. This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.

Avatar n tn Hello, I've had a constant cough for the past 2 weeks that just won't go away, it's to the point where I'm hardly getting any sleep and it's really becoming a problem. when I breath in a tickle develops in the back of my throat and that's what is causing me to cough. Just today I also found tilting my head back will cause me to cough also almost uncontrollably. If anyone else has experienced this and knows what it is I'd really appreciate a reply.
Avatar f tn what could be sinus infection, chest congestion and upper body aches, such as in neck, upper arms, shoulders and shoulder blades, for 4 solid months? It started with chest congestion and coughing, then expanded into sinus', ears, throat, and then added constant neck and shoulder pain. I went to the family dr. 3 times with in 4 weeks. He gave me antibiotics, and cortisteroids, decongestants, depo shots and antibiotic shots. I had a chest xray that came back clear.
