depression

Avatar f tn There are many posts like this almost all from people that suffer from general anxiety disorder, panic attacks or clinical depression.
Avatar n tn You were not specific on the symptoms you experience, but my guess is that when you exercise you don't drink water, or you sweat to excess. This will dehydrate you and you will lose salt and other minerals. You can experience shaking of the hands, visual disturbances, headaches, stomach aches, stitches in the sides, exhaustion, low grade temps and other unpleasant symptoms. If this is the case, try drinking a fluid that has minerals in it like Cytomax.
Avatar n tn I have Thallasemia Minor and thought I was just lazy because the Drs. said it has no symptoms. I also had some depression and anxiety attacks. My dad, brother and son have it, too. They don't seem to get as tired as I do, tho. I can relate to that vision thing, too. I wear glasses, but sometimes I just have a hard time seeing clearly.
Avatar m tn So, for people here who have been diagnosed with anxiety/panic attacks with headaches, heart symptoms, neurological stuff, unexplained clinical findings, etc, and with out a doubt know there is something else wrong with you, stay persistent. I have been labeled as a hypochondriac, but it looks like it's going to pay off in the long run. I know many here will not approve of my advice, but there are other things out there that can cause anxiety/panic disorder.
Avatar f tn You are correct. "Clinical depression" is not a type of depression or an indication of its severity per se. The "official" label is Major Depressive Disorder - which can range from mild to moderate to severe. "Clinical depression" is used (by the public and in the mental health field) as an "also known as" to distinguish depressed mood from major depression - which should be treated by a doctor - not simply that it is being treated by a doctor.
Avatar m tn Lizz67 I never said I had clinical depression. I actually had psychotherapy and it helped me get over my anxiety and depression. If you notice on the doctor's post, he mentioned psychotherapy as a second alternative giving me the option to choose whats best for me. In this case, it was psychotherapy. It might not help you but it helps others.
Avatar n tn Clinical depression simply means "a depression under treatment". Sites like Wikipedia list it as a type of depression but it is not. It just means you are seeing a doc really. Therefore, clinical. OK? I'm a deep depression turned into BP2. Had it most of my life but did not treat it seriously until about a decade ago. Ignored it for many, many years as I didn't really know what it was and didn't ask. I thought it was normal, truly did.
Avatar f tn [13][14] However, these uses are not actively promoted by the manufacturer, and like its use for bipolar disorder, are off-label uses. The drug is also used in clinical trials to treat Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.[15] A pilot study suggests that Topiramate is possibly effective against infantile spasms.[16] A study by Harvard recommends topiramate as an effective treatment in the prevention of Periventricular leukomalacia in preterm infants after an hypoxic-ischemic injury.
Avatar f tn 2 (0-100) I also have some of the hypothyroidism symptoms listed in wikipedia such as weight gain, depression, anxiety, fatigue, sleepiness, cold intolerance. My doctor thinks I have Hashimoto's Disease. She suggested that I start taking levothyroxine (25mcg). I've bought Euthyrox, one of the two brands available in my country. My reaction to it was quite bad, I had very severe headaches. I usually use ibuprofen for my headaches so I tried it first. It couldn't help at all.
Avatar f tn Individuals diagnosed with PTSD respond more strongly to a dexamethasone suppression test than individuals diagnosed with clinical depression.[8][9] In addition, most people with PTSD also show a low secretion of cortisol and high secretion of catecholamines in urine, with a norepinephrine/cortisol ratio consequently higher than comparable non-diagnosed individuals.
1329847 tn?1275176334 Welcome to MedHelp Lyme -- The confusing situation you find yourself in is regrettably common to many of us. It sounds like your MD did first an ELISA test, and if that comes back positive, as yours did, then a second confirming test (called Western blot) is done (because ELISA has a high rate of false positives, and Western blot has a high rate of false negatives, so the two are supposed to cancel out each other's weaknesses).
Avatar f tn He considers fibromyalgia a physical response to stress, depression, and economic and social anxiety, and believes the associated symptoms are a normal part of everyday life. In 2009, he wrote, "the tendency to respond with distress to physical and mental stressors is part of the human condition.
Avatar m tn I could tell you what natural remedies are helpful for depression but only under the supervision of a psychiatrist and not one who would rule out all known anti-depressents. I'd be concerned about the creditibility of this person. It would be welcome if they understood natural remedies as does my psychopharmocologist but they should not discount all standard anti-depressents.
Avatar m tn I have anxiety and depression.
Avatar m tn About half of all patients with BPD have one parent who also has a mood disorder. There is, therefore, a clinical significance in my mother’s mood disorder in the diagnosis of my own BPD. The high heritability of BPD has been well documented through familial incidence, twin, and adoption studies. There is an unquestionable justification for the inclusion of my family in my understanding of BPD. No specific gene has yet been identified as the one "bipolar gene.
1037594 tn?1258565779 I have no idea where that psychiatrist got his ideas from. I am very familiar with natural remedies taking several under clinical supervision for tardive dyskinesia and also a compound (glycine) in Phase II FDA study for schizophrenia (in my case schizoaffective disorder) under strict clinical supervision and some of them I started after I did online research which I printed out and brought to my providers and they did further research from clinical sites and approved.
Avatar m tn Individuals who experience manic episodes also commonly experience depressive episodes or symptoms, or mixed episodes in which features of both mania and depression are present at the same time. There is a defect in the transmission of sense impressions to the brain, a flaw in communication. (See: Monica Ramirez Basco, The Bipolar Workbook: Tools for Controlling Your Mood Swings, 2006. p. viii).
Avatar f tn I had surgery for Chiari Malformation in 2010 and spent most of the year in and out of the hospital. For most of the first year I was ok but most of my symptoms have slowly come back to the point that it is getting unbearable. I have spent the last 3 weeks eating ibuprofen like candy hoping for some relief so that maybe I could at least move to try and get out of bed. I am lost and confused, what is going on?
Avatar m tn Herpetic urethritis due to either HSV-1 or 2 would not persist or recur as frequently as your symptoms have done. Combining the clinical picture plus the serology, you can dismiss herpes as a cause of any of your symptoms. I'm inclined to agree with the "prostadynia" diagnosis.
Avatar m tn The optic neuritis is not severe (I have Uthoff's symptoms) and I go without symptoms for days but they do come back with exercise and drinking hot liquids, but my vision at worst is 20-50 (quickly goes back to 20-25,20-30). My neurologist said that there was not a lot of plaque. He is sending me for blood work to test for the usual (Lyme disease, Lupus, etc) and is going to do a lumbar punch. All tests will be finished by Friday.
Avatar m tn [28][29] Cognitive impairment of varying degrees and emotional symptoms of depression or unstable mood are also common.[30][31] The main clinical measure of disability progression and symptom severity is the Expanded Disability Status Scale or EDSS.
Avatar n tn Remember although B vitamins are of course needed by the body and a healthy supplement there has been no clinical proof that they treat schizophrenia or depression or any other mental illness. I know because I take a vitamin b/c supplement daily (with the normal amounts) and it never provide any symptom mitigation. I do know that after I started the vitamin c I got less colds but that's about it.

Avatar f tn No, they are two different things, just looked it up....
Avatar m tn I too have many of the symptoms you list for lymph swelling in the forum. such as Fever, night sweats, itching or any pains in your abdomen? However I have had weight gain and severe sudden high pitched ear ringing in my right ear. I am also very tired but have trouble sleeping. I've also been recently experiencing acid reflux. When I go to the doctor they just look at me and roll their eyes like I'm stupid for being concerned about this. I don't go to the doctor often.
Avatar f tn The only 7 day patch I know of is the Butrans patch. Buprenorphine (butrans) is Suboxone. It's normally used for addiction recovery but it looks like they're using it in low doses for pain management in the patch. This is what I found on it from Wikipedia. "Available buprenorphine formulations include a 5, 10 and 20 mcg per hour, 7-day patch, marketed as Butrans in the U.S.A.
Avatar n tn Hi, Remeron is known to have long term side effects like muscle twitches, anxiety, dizziness, loss of co ordination. It is important to know if you withdrew the drug gradually or stopped all of a sudden. I would suggest you to discuss this issue also with your treating doctor.
2033435 tn?1329947108 He actually never diagnosed me with depression (he prescribed it for insomnia) but at later appointments when he saw the AD in my chart he would explain some thyroid symptoms (which DID begin to include depression) as possibly being from my "clinical depression". sigh... I liked him overall - and he was great in evaluating and then referring to a colleague for my husband's running injury, but I'm hesitant to go back, for similar reasons you probably understand.
