1130576 tn?1260150770 Depression in children It was earlier believed that children and young adolescents are incapable of experiencing depressive symptoms and hence cannot suffer from depression. It is possible that many cases of childhood depression were being treated as school phobia or behavioural or temperamental aberrations.
Avatar f tn I think you have it backwards -- drugs can only help so much, it's therapy that is a cure if there is a cure. It's also well recognized that most childhood anxiety is of a different nature than the chronic anxiety that affects adults. These meds were never tested on children nor approved for children, so are used off-label. I'd do anything to avoid meds for adults, and even more so for children.
Avatar n tn Adderall is the most commonly prescribed ADHD medicine for adults. I think most insurance companies cover it until a person is 25. Some will cover it for longer. I had to start paying out of pocket on my 26th birthday. Some versions of extend release Ritalin are also FDA approved for adults and there are also non stimulant alternatives.

Treatment includes physical destruction or manual extrusion of the lesions, cryotherapy, and curettage. I suggest you to get it evaluated from a dermatologist. I hope it helps.

1326416 tn?1370927001 I have suffered with depression for many years. i have tried every medication under the sun, but when they finally "start working" I can't stand the side-effects (anxiety, shakiness, general feelings of unease, etc.). I'm wondering if anyone else experiences this? It's called non-treatable depression, medication resistant depression, or something like that. All I know is that it's a viscious circle.
Avatar m tn There is a very strong link between depression and ADD or ADHD. In kids, its 10 to 30% ("The ADD/ ADHD Answer book," by Susan Ashley. ), My own opinion from reading posts here from undiagnosed adults is that it is much higher. My opinion is that if your therapist wants to help you, the therapist would do some research on AD/HD. Knowing what is the cause of depression is the fastest way to deal with it. If you are not supposed to diagnose, then who is?
Avatar n tn m now wondering if perhaps my symptoms are due to depression or are perhaps exacerbated because of depression. My question is can depression be a purely physical disease? In other words, can one have depression without feeling 'sad' emotionally? I've always been a happy, optimistic person. I have no other major stressors in my life, aside from my present illness. I'm a 30 y/o male with no history of any serious illness. I'm in good shape and have a good social life.
Avatar n tn My daughter (15 years old) has been recently prescribed 50mg Zoloft for mild depression. I am very scared that this is not the right way to deal with the problems that she has and in particular scared of side effects and withdrawal dramas eventually. Do you have any suggestions how I could help her deal with depression without the medication and is Zoloft very dangerous to start with?
Avatar m tn But again, agree with above that seeking help for the depression is the right thing to do for yourself as well as your future employment. best of luck to you and hope that you are able to get treatment soon for the depression and find a great job you love.
Avatar m tn And, yes, exercise can be very helpful. While a lot of the links are aimed at kids, it works just as well for adults. Not to mention that exercise is a great way to battle depression. http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/the-athletes-way/201410/8-ways-exercise-can-help-your-child-do-better-in-school The jury is still out on supplements. There is no question that eating healthy is important. A high protein breakfast is very important!
