Avatar f tn I see a psychiatrist regularly, regarding my abuse, and he and I agree that people who have been traumatised often display Asperger like symptoms. My Asperger friend is a pain to live with, but for a different reason. He is over sexed and tends to keep people away from me by being too informative and talkative. (They think he is nuts!
Avatar n tn Dear Mary Thank you for your question. The usual age of onset for bipolar disorder ranges from 6 to 50 years old. It is rare, but not impossible for onset after age 50. Perhaps you had mild symptoms that were not identified earlier. The average time from symptoms onset to diagnosis is years with bipolar disorder. There are three major types of bipolar related disorders.
Avatar m tn I have read many horror stories of people who were taking regular and megadoses of multivitamins and have suffered from depression after sometimes taking these even for a few days. Many Health Professionals say that even a common vitamin like Folic Acid which is in many vitamin pills is LIKELY SAFE for most people. Most adults do not experience any side effects when consuming the recommended amount each day, which is 400 mcg.
7087196 tn?1389309719 Well, Celexia is an antidepressant and is usually used for depression. Risperdal, of course, is an anti-psychotic used for Bipolar. Guanfacine has multilple uses with anxiety and ADHD being the main ones. However, it "May not help attention (ADHD) as much as stimulants." It seems like he is mainly being treated for Bipolar and not ADHD. Oh, and the fact that Ritalin did not help you really has very little to do with him.
1130576 tn?1260154370 This clearly states 5.3% of adults and 4% of adolescents. Sorry but that means teenagers are less commonly depressed than adults. And faces are certainly the first indicator of depression in any person. The other things you mention are useful too but sleeping in for one is a common trait of every teenager I have ever known and depression did not automatically follow as a result of that.
Avatar f tn These meds were never tested on children nor approved for children, so are used off-label. I'd do anything to avoid meds for adults, and even more so for children. Have you tested for all food sensitivities - the worst are wheat and dairy -- hormonal problems, blood sugar, some traumatic event that might have happened, presence of heavy metals or other contamination in your area, I mean, the possibilities on a forming brain and body are endless.
Avatar f tn What I'm wondering is do any other adults with mild CP have these symptoms? The dr's have no idea what is causing my issues.
Avatar f tn I read biological factors could make you more at risk of having depression, but I don't know if this is true.
Avatar n tn My husband has had problems with depression and often times if you don't see an improvement in the symptoms after the alotted time for the drug to level out in your system it's not the right one for you.My husband had started off with zoloft then was switched to paxil then wellbutrin none of them worked for him.In the end his doctor put him on prozac and there was marked improvement in his mental state.Goodluck to you.Peace.
Avatar n tn Klonopin & Lexapro for depression? The answer is no, because Klonopin (clonazepam) is in a class of drugs called benzodiazepines. Klonopin (clonazepam) is used to treat seizures and panic disorder. Lexapro is an antidepressant and a member of the family of medicines known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). Lexapro is a well-tolerated medicine for the treatment of depression and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) in adults.
Avatar n tn Experiences shared on this site about Effexor are scary and have been helpful. Zoloft has been around for a long time for depression/anxiety, and it is easier to use for shorter periods and to wean off easily. I think we're on our way--but never take anything for granted. Only time will tell.
Avatar n tn This relationship was filled with verbal abuse and constant mood swings from my very unstable EX-girlfriend (no wonder I self-medicaed with pot).. Currently my symptoms include anxiety/depression, irritability, irrational thoughts, and the occasional headache. The ups and downs have really begun to wear on me and I'm beginning to wonder if I'll ever return to my normal self before the pot and the emotional roller coaster of a relationship.
Avatar n tn I DO know that MedHelp has a absolutely wonderful forum for people that suffer from depression, anxiety and panic. It's called the "Anxiety Forum." You can find it by going to the top of this page and clicking, "Forums." They really do some great stuff over on that forum and have helped people tremendously. Meanwhile, I hope that you will continue to post with us also. I suffered from anxiety for almost 20 years, so I am NOT putting you down in ANY WAY.
Avatar f tn I looked up my symptoms online and was diagnosed with depression. I cant tell anyone as some of my family have killed themselves and my mum has depression so i dont think they would take me seriously. im scared. what should i do????
Avatar n tn i myself am currently trying to get back on adderall. I have add, and depression, from bipolar, and my doc put me on adderall for the depression. this however was before i was diagnosed w/bipolar! now that the diagnosis has changed, every doctor i see wants to put me on something else... why? The adderall worked just fine for me... it was like an overnight change. The only reason i went off was because of no med coverage.
Avatar m tn Anxiety and Depression Chronic gut disorders are associated with higher rates of anxiety and depression. A well-publicized study in mice suggested a possible role for probiotics in reducing anxiety associated with gut inflammation (Bercik, Neurogatroenterol Motil 2011). Mice in the study had a chemically-induced inflammation of their gut and exhibited anxiety-like behavior. Giving 1 billion cells of Bifidobacterium longum NCC3001 for 1 week normalized their behavior.
Avatar n tn Sometimes a particular antidepressant can be very stimulating as well for some people, and Prozac is one known for that. That can increase your anxiety rather than help tamp it down. Much of this typically happens during the early phase of taking the drug and can stop over time, but it can also just be that this is not the proper medication for you.
Avatar m tn or such, but I have never come into contact with any other person my age with these symptoms. Please help. I am absolutely terrified about what this could be. I understand it is rare for a teen of my age to have such symptoms. Please note that I was recently given azithromycin to help my breathing problems, but the pills are all gone, however the doctor noted that it could stay in my body for up to ten days. This is the tenth day, and also when the problem has been the worst.
1264863 tn?1391121793 I think that it is fine to see your GP for depression medication but I'd also get yourself scheduled for some talk therapy with a psychologist. Talk therapy combined with medication is the best way to overcome depression. You have a lot going on in your life and you need to take care of yourself and your health. Your frame of mind is part of that. So please call your doctor and set up an appointment and find a therapist as well.
Avatar n tn Take the above advice and see if the professionals think he needs medication for depression. It can be hard sometimes for parents to get a balance with school work because they want their child to do well. But if that means he is being pushed beyond what he can cope with, then unfortunately you do have to drop the pressure. And you need to be very aware of what is going on in school because he may not be being supported to the level that he needs.
Avatar n tn Antidepressants are know to cause mania in some people w/bipolar. My depression has to be treated w/anitdepressants. It is taking alot of trial and error for the correct cocktail but I am doing so much better. Hang in there...there will be better days ahead for you too.
Avatar n tn I don't understand why you would feel depressed with scores that good? Blood sugars for healthy adults should be between 70 and 110, so if you're able to do that as a type 1, you are doing much better than most. These are not low blood sugars, these are normal blood sugars. Are you becoming depressed any crying because you consciously think about these scores, or are you doing it involuntarily?
Avatar n tn Since then we've tried going back on and weening off, but the depression and severe pain continues. I'm not sure it is paxil withdrawal symptoms, but nothing else works. I am at wits end and fearful she no longer wishes to continue life with this pain. Is there anything we can do???
Avatar m tn They haven't given her anything except for our in home services and a recommendation for integrated preschool which my town will not add into her IEP regardless of doctor recommendations! My fight is not over. I sometimes fear my 3 year old because she is so strong but I am skeptical on medications since I'm convinced that these issues are situational... We live with my mother who's twin sister is bipolar and there is clearly some disturbance in my mother but she is in denial...
Avatar n tn Since I have been on heavy Wellbutrin doses for years and some lithium I assumed at first they meant just my hands. No adults ever commented about it and I didn't think much about it because I didn't notice anything. A few years ago my left hand developed a twitching, especially in the thumb and ring finger. My other hand started months after. Putting weight on my arms causes various tremors now in my arms and hands.
Avatar f tn Thanks for all the comments! I went to my primary doctor for over a year about the fatigue and depression. He did blood work on my first visit and it came back fine. We tried antidepressant after antidepressant with no results. He sent me to get tested for allergies and we discontinued antidepressants. In March, my allergy doctor checked me for several things, including autoimmune diseases. They only thing that came back abnormal was the EBV.
Avatar f tn People that suffer early on from severe depression and anxiety for no found direct reason (I beleive) may have a chemical imbalance in the brain that simply doesn't allow them to feel joy like normal people can feel joy. (that is the case with me unfortunatly) which is why I must take a cocktail of medications to get my brain in a normaly functiong state.
Avatar f tn It is important to tell them if you think you may be bipolar and what the 'up' stages look like. Medication for depression (SSRI's, SNRI's) can flip a bipolar person into hypomania or mania. Suicide is a very dangerous thing to toy with so don't wait to get help. And if you have moved from making plans into buying things to carry out the plan then get to the ER. You are worth saving, and this horrible horrible pain will not last forever. I promise you that. The pain does go away.
