Carbs to maintain weight

Common Questions and Answers about Carbs to maintain weight

carb

Avatar f tn POP is HORRIBLE for dieting. Reqular pop has over 20 grams of sugar in 1 can and just as many grams of carbohydrates! In order to loose weight you have to cut back sugar and carbs. Diet soda doesn't have sugar or carbs but it has something in it that makes your appetite increase! Just say NO to pop! You will be glad you did!
1848466 tn?1319136898 I used to weigh 375lbs, I've been doing nothing but cardio (I've lost 175lbs), recently I stopped working out for about a month, due to a major schedule change and new job. I wanted to know If I can still do my 30min jogs, and if I must can I just do 15 minutes of strength training?
Avatar n tn I recently heard of the Atkins diet,This is a low carb diet, you eat alot of meats and veggies but no fruits for the first 2 weeks, I was wondering if I lose my desired weight but increase my carbs (good carbs such as apples and fruits, and oats) will I gain it all back if I keep exercising, plus I'm a teen so I heard we have a fast matabilism..
Avatar m tn I'm a semi pro mma fighter in the middle of a weight cut, I have to loose 12 kilos in 6 weeks... EAAASSY. YOU JUST HAVE TO WANT IT. I'm using this app to keep track of my intake and its great.
Avatar m tn First things , use a calorie calculator to estimate how many calories you need to maintain your current weight. Now, if you want to lose a pound a week, you’ll want to cut that total by 500 calories per day to hit that goal (3,500 calories equals a pound of fat) This discussion is related to Losing weight to fight diabetes.
Avatar f tn Thanks for the info. I'm trying to eat less carbs but it's hard for me because I am very thin. Cutting carbs causes me to lose weight. It's so confusing because my Dr. said my HA1c was normal but from everything I've read, 5.6 really isn't that great. My Dad got diabetes in his 40's. I am 54 and am afraid my glucose level is creeping up.
Avatar n tn make sure the food choices you make are healthy choices. lots of fruits and vegetables, lean proteins and good carbs (whole wheat, etc). remember, as i always tell myself and anyone who asks me... it's the calories that count! what goes in must be less than what comes out. you don't want to eat more than what you're burning, so if you're trying to lose weight while not exercising, you must make sure you make up for the calorie deficit by eating less. good luck!
Avatar f tn Sorry, about my miscalculation........ you're right, though, at 5'1, you are still not overweight. You can't go by everything you read on the internet. If you are eating a good, healthy diet, you shouldn't even have to count calories, but 130-140 grams of carbs might be too much, depending on the type of carbs you're eating.
Avatar m tn 4 months back my weight was Kg 77. So I have decided to maintain the weight loss, for that I have controlled my diet. I had consumed only fruits and juices at night. And I had taken 'Bragg apple cider vinegar. And consumed plenty of water. Now my weight is Kg 66. I thought that this weight loss was due to my diet and frequent urination was due to plenty of water consumption. Last week I went to hospital and I have checked my health condition.
Avatar n tn t progressed so far that it becomes almost impossible to separate from Type I. What type do you have? And by the way, when you say no carbs, this is a frequent misinterpretation by people who don't know much about nutrition. The most important foods to eat are carbs, as this category includes all the antioxidant and nutrient dense veggies. Certain carbs that metabolize quickly into sugar should be avoided, but the healthiest diets will be heavy on carbs.
Avatar f tn This should bring up a variety of calculators that will take into account your height, weight, age, and activity level, then estimate how many calories a day you need to eat in order to maintain your weight. You can then subtract 500 calories from that. I've found this to be the most effective and easiest to maintain of all the diets out there. The weight loss is slow, but it's steady and stays off. Plus, it's so much easier to maintain this than a crash diet.
Avatar f tn the total amount of daily calories , carbs etc on the daily tracker is that the amount to maintain your current weight or to loss weight because it seems awfully high.
1401296 tn?1280799533 This is how many calories your body needs when at reast to maintain its current weight. It varies from person to person. But this calculator gives you an idea. http://www.fitwatch.com/qkcalc/bmr.html Then you know every calorie you eat and don't burn off after that point will cause weight gain. So take some time to learn food values - weights and measures- after a while it becomes second nature. The key is to eat less and better and to move more.
193609 tn?1292180293 Losing weight is really just a simple math equation and comes down to calories in vs calories out. In order to lose weight, you have to burn more than you consume. People lose weight on low carb diets because whether or not they realize it, they're consuming less calories. High carb foods (cereal, potatoes, rice, pasta, sugary snacks) tend to be quite calorie dense so a very modest portion can end up being pretty caloric.
Avatar f tn It depends, but if you figure out how much weight to sustain your weight! Minus 500 from that!

Then limit your carbohydrate food intake for weight loss. Use Google to search and understand the difference between 'simple carbs and complex carbs'. Avatar n tn To do this one MUST adhere to lifestyle changes; proper nutrition, maintain proper body weight, and perform daily 30 minute physical exercise. Ignore one defeats the others. Do yourself a favor, go to your local pharmacy/drug store/WalMart and purchase a home glucose [blood sugar] test meter. Read the instructions carefully. Post back to this thread if you have further questions or concerns. Good luck.
