Common Questions and Answers about Carbs vodka and soda

carb

Avatar n tn 5 drinks of vodka soda. Has no carbs and my glucose levels stayed pretty stable through the night. I ate a sandwich when I got home just in case (because it was my first time drinking since being diagnosed) which actually made me wake up a little high because I didn't cover it with insulin. Overall went pretty well.
1407457 tn?1281317353 Does anyone know much about the best way to lose weight with PCOS? I currently do weight watchers and will lose small amounts, but my doctor did mention watching how many carbs i'm eating. I need more direction than that though. With weight watchers we don't even look at carbs so I don't know if it's possible to do both. Any suggestions on the best way to lose some weight??
Avatar f tn POP is HORRIBLE for dieting. Reqular pop has over 20 grams of sugar in 1 can and just as many grams of carbohydrates! In order to loose weight you have to cut back sugar and carbs. Diet soda doesn't have sugar or carbs but it has something in it that makes your appetite increase! Just say NO to pop! You will be glad you did!
Avatar f tn I know I have a problem with large meals or with a meal like pancakes and syrup or when I drink a some soda w/sugar in it (I try to let it go fairly flat due to having IC).
Avatar m tn So excited because I did p90x for 30days without skipping any days and I was staying in my calorie range, and I only lost 2lbs and I gained a body fat percentage. I was not watching my carbs. Now that I am, I have felt better and am finally dropping pounds. Hope this helps! Oh another tip... when you eat a carb (yes fruits are carbs) eat it with a protein. An apple with a cheese stick or peanut butter. Find KIND bars at walmart.
Avatar f tn all alcoholic drinks have sulfites in them it could be something like that or even the additive sodas you put with them ..from reading your post you are drinking quite a mixture ..Why not have a glass of wine and see what happens ..
Avatar f tn m just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on sugar intake and pain and/or sugar intake and cravings due to medications. I was fairly fit and a regular gym-goer and watched my diet about 90/10. I wasn't overly rigid, but I was careful. I noticed that at some point when my narcotic dosage got on the higher end, I started craving sugar. I never added sugar to coffee or tea and always drank diet soda, if any.
Avatar n tn Hi, in order to best control your diabetes, it will be important to closely monitor your diet and in particular not too much carbs. If you eat lots of carbs you will need lots of insulin to cover them and also be more likely to gain weight. Most vegetables are good. Fruits are ok, but they are very sweet, so portions have to be controlled.
Avatar f tn I agree with the post above about eating right and getting exercise, and just staying informed about his condition and being very proactive with his treatment.
Avatar f tn My doc told to eat and drink normally..since the test is testing if your sugar intake is high or low.
Avatar n tn I also have this problem when drinking red wine and to a lesser degree white wine. I noticed that vodka does not affect me in this way and have read that it is low in tyramine. What other alcoholic beverages are low in tyramine? Is Cider low in tyramine?
Avatar m tn Alcohol allergy and a variety of alcohol reactions including flushing, nausea, and discomfort are important considerations. Try to avoid the trigger/ vodka tonic and have this checked by your doctor also if it persists. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn I poured out my beer and poured in water instead. I also acted like I was drinking vodka soda with obviously no vodka. Sometimes I just said I didn't feel like drinking.
Dinosaur Just eliminating soda from your diet will go a long way toward losing weight. You don't have to quit all at once... just start slow and replace one soda/day with a glass of water. Once you're comfortable with that, replace another soda each day with water. Continue until water is your drink of choice. I'm not real fond of plain water, so I keep fresh lemons in the fridge and I drop a lemon wedge/slice into my glass.
Avatar f tn I can drink either 2 bottles of wine or 1/4 to 1/2 of a big bottle of vodka mixed with club soda or the same amount of rum mixed with diet coke. I usually only drink beer on the weekends if we are at the lake or pool, so I don't pass out in the sun. But then I will come home and switch to wine or liquor. Would it make a difference if I completely cut out the wine and liquor and only drink beer until I can completely quit, or does beer cause the same damage. Any info would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn My meal plan is breakfast I get 30 grams of carbs with no fruit and a snack 2 hours later containing 15 grams of carbs lunch and dinner I get 45 grams of carbs with a snack two hours after each meal. Snacks could be crackers with cheese or apples with peanut butter, just really watch your carb intake.
Avatar f tn this post made me laugh a little but because I remember feeling the same way my Dr said as long I stayed between 200-300 mg of caffeine a day I would be fine just to make sure I was still drinking my 8 glasses of water a day.... I still feel slightly naughty and guilty if I treat myself to a frappuccino from starbucks. With other things I figure women have been having babies for a long time without all the don't eat this and don't eat that.....
Avatar f tn I agree with WaveRider; the postprandial was way too high. But you did not just eat meat for lunch. Meat has no carbs and won't raise your glucose. What was with the meat? Potatoes, bread, fruits, etc. all have carbs and will raise your readings. Also, what did you drink with the meal? Soda? Sweet tea? Coffee with sugar and creamer? You need to watch everything you take into your mouth!
Avatar n tn My controls are generaly quite good, my Hba1c is below 7, and I am on 4 shots a day (Lantus and Humolog) My diet is restricted to complex carbs white meat, veggies and fruit, and I eat at regulated times. My main vice so to speak is alcohol, I drink around 5 times a week and heavily (8 drinks plus) on the weekends.
Avatar n tn Is drinking vodka like about small peg bottle make me gain weight.. I drink may be once or twice a week..
Avatar f tn Things that are high in carbs like pasta breads soda ect should be limited. I can only eat 45 carbs per meal and 15 per snack. 3 meals a day and 2-3 snacks.
Avatar f tn I agree that you should cut down on bread and simple carbs; however, feel free to eat all the complex carbs you like, such as those found in veggies, whole grains, nuts, seeds, etc. If you drink soda, eliminate that from your diet and make water your drink of choice. Many people report losing quite a few pounds with just this one change. Make sure you eat high quality, lean protein with every meal and snack.
8867510 tn?1400309344 Cut down on sugar and fats. This means no: baked goods (cookies, cakes, donuts, etc), white bread, chips (plain corn tortillas should be OK), soda, ice cream, processed meats (hot dogs, sausages, fast food). It's very easy to make these changes. They may seem like a lot, but trust me it isn't. Simply drink water instead of soda. Eat whole grain bread instead of white. Have some frozen yogurt instead of ice cream. Your body will get used to these changes and it will quickly become normal.
341551 tn?1266980730 I have ordered a tonic water or club soda with a lime. It looks just like a gin & tonic or vodka soda. Should keep suspicions down... Good luck!
Avatar f tn Same here I'm 35 weeks n have gestational diabetes and its so difficult to portion my food the way I was told because I feel so hungry after I eat like if I didn't even eat lol I do mess up here and there by drinking soda and eating candy but its only cause I crave it...is it bad to drink soda ?,& eat candy?
