Common Questions and Answers about Carbs to not eat when losing weight

carb

193609 tn?1292180293 When counting carbs for effective weight loss, 50 is about the max. This would involve eliminating all sugar and flour by-products, which is why it's such a difficult way to lose weight. But, it's worked for me.
Avatar n tn I eat everything they tell you not to eat (real-food-wise, that is), and I stay away from processed foods. I do not eat any processed sugars, carbohydrates, sodas, or trans-fat. I load up on saturated fats (I go through 2 packets of butter in a week), and eat probably more than my fair share of protein. Not as much chicken, but real, red-meat foods (steak, lamb, etc) with the fat still on it. I eat at least 3 eggs a day, everyday (whole eggs, not this egg white only stuff).
Avatar f tn m not sure how your calorie counter works - it could be that 2232 calories allowed daily, is what you could eat to maintain your current weight. In order to lose weight, you would need to drop some of those calories, either by consuming less, or burning more through exercise. To lose a pound a week, you would need to eliminate/burn 3500 calories/week, which averages out to 500 calories/day.
Avatar n tn Most experts recommend 30-60 minutes of aerobic exercise three or four days a week, along with two or three days of weight-bearing, resistance exercise (such as weight lifting). This is sufficient to achieve satisfying results. You can exercise daily or on alternate days, depending on the availability of time. Walking is one of the simplest aerobic exercises. You can vary the intensity to match your fitness level.
1467664 tn?1288579313 A couple thoughts, Sam. Have you been checked for thyroid? Thyroid disease is more common with us type 1's and that could make it very hard to lose weight. Do get a simple blood test for your thyroid fuction. One sure way that type 1's gain weight is to go by the philosophy of "eat whatever I want and bolus for it". That means more carbs, more insulin, more weight and possible development of insulin resistance which you do not want!
Avatar n tn I've been struggling with my weight since I got injured a couple years ago and started packing on the pounds. I did lose 7lbs, but unfortunately gained them back. I'm 5'3/4", 17, and 131lbs. I want to be 110 and am having a lot of trouble losing weight. I'm an emotional eater/ eat when i'm bored. I know those bad habits need to stop! How long do you think it'll take me to lose 21lbs? I play soccer 2-3x a week; that's my exercise each week.
Avatar f tn Hello, I wanted to know what kind of diet pill I can take for losing weight?
Avatar f tn It's usually water weight, which is normal. It can fluctuate a lot. Unless your Dr is concerned, I would not worry about your weight. Just eat healthy and take the prenatals.
Avatar f tn It also helps to plan your meals ahead of time so that you know before hand how many calories your going to eat that day. You dont have to eat much of some foods to keep from losing weight. You can purchase the calorie counter book in a paper back at most any book store... Id also suggest that you try eating 1,500to 1,600 calories daily. Most males usually use or burn about 2400 calories daily.
Avatar f tn I came back to my office job 1 year ago (where a lot of women who like to eat work as well). I was 175 lbs when I came back. Now I weigh 205...Thats 30 lbs in one year. I joined a gym in February and then hired a trainer in March. We've been working together for about a month now. He weight trains me once a week and then I may do it on my own once a week. I also do cardio (treadmill mostly) 4 times a week. I dont drink sodas or coffee any more.
594189 tn?1386916607 Maybe the low carb diet is right for your body? Not everyone can follow all diet plans. I still eat carbs (a ton) and I'm still losing weight without a problem. Maybe stick to this low carb diet till the end of the month and see what weight comes off, if none maybe switch to something of your own.
Avatar n tn I calculated you at "somewhat active" which is exercising 3X/week and you would need about 2300 calories/day to lose weight. I think your exercise is just fine -- I just don't think you are eating right. I think you should try tracking your calorie intake -MedHelp has an excellent food diary - in which you write down everything you eat - including the hershey kiss or mini chocolate bar you pick up from a co-worker's candy dish.
Avatar f tn I was wanting to know how many calories, fat, carbs, ect... I should eat to lose weight. I cannot exercise a whole lot do to a medical condition where I suffer from daily headaches and pressure in my head. Losing weight will actually help this condition. Besides my overall health, this is why it is so important that I lose weight. I have lost weight in the past, but always seem to gain it back. I think that I was not eating enough calories. i was staying at about 1000 a day.
Avatar f tn t fully developed you, so you have to be very careful losing weight because you have to make sure you get all the right nutrients in order to grow and develop normally. You should talk to your parents and have them help you develop your diet, along with help from your pediatrician or family doctor to make sure you're losing weight properly and in a healthy manner.
Avatar n tn Well first let me say im no expert here ...but i see a few things. 1. you're doing wieght training so you're likely adding muscle while burning fat..muscle weighs more than fat so i would suggest you ignore the scale for a bit. 2. you might try doing weigth training only 2 or 3 days a week to stay toned and add a bit to the cardio.. 3.you may not be eating enough ..
Avatar n tn First, if you're at all muscular, you're not all that overweight. If you're not muscular, you don't need to lose a ton of weight. Calories aren't key to losing weight -- how quickly and efficiently you metabolize your food into sugar and how well you digest your nutrients is far more important.
Avatar n tn I am 32 wks and with gest. diabetes and I have not gain any weight and now in last two weeks have been losing weight. I'm so hungry but can't eat a lot of carbs and now my calories are no where near close where they should be but if I eat more my sugar gos up. last pregnancy I did the diet and it worked this time I think I going have to do the insulin. my question is there any food that I missing thats has litle to no carbs but will have calorie intake to help stay at least at 1500.
Avatar f tn What is the best way for me to lose inches around my waist. I'm not really sure how to go about it all.
Avatar n tn Increase the frequency of your exercise and eat a minimum of 3 meals a day to keep your metabolism high. The less frequent you eat the lower your metabolism. Cut down on carbs, don't just replace with whole grain (which is better for you but don't make a big difference in weight loss) Beware of the scale! Fat loss is your goal, not weight loss. You could be losing muscle and water, which will make you weaker and sick in the long run. Your belt is a better judge, lol!
Avatar f tn Not sure this is the best way to lose weight. Don't know when your next birthday is, but 30 pounds is a fair amount of weight to lose. Not only are you putting a lot of pressure on yourself, losing weight quickly usually leads to putting it back on again because it require radical steps. What might work better is to not set a time limit and make the changes everyone knows lead to weight loss, which is to basically eat less and exercise, or move, more.
Avatar f tn So I've been on a low calorie diet (less than 1500 calories) per day and working out at the gym for an hour oror more 4 times a week. I'm currently at 147lbs and have been for the last 3 weeks!! Since i started my diet. Has this happened to anyone else. I know it might just be muscle keeping me from losing weight. I would love some advice about working out and losing weight.
648296 tn?1235934418 Losing weight faster isnt always the best choice. you may choose to lose weight fast with a diet but surley it leaves its damages. As Red Says eating 3 healthy meals and snacks with exercise will see you get fit and slim slowly but steadily! Also it is more likely you will never have to diet again after you lost the weight.By then you will know to make the right choices! Remember to check with this forum as often as possible.
1698865 tn?1306869524 I started working out regularly when I hit my plateau and I still was not losing any weight. So after a few months of nothing, I thought 'it doesn't matter I'm not losing anything anyways' and I pigged out. A couple days later i stepped on the scale and i had lost 2 lbs! I went back to my diet anyways and by the end of the week, I had gained those 2 lbs back.
Avatar f tn ive gone from 217 to 176 (a number i never thought id see!). i try to stick to 20 net carbs per day.. its been slow going, but when i look at my size now, it has been worth the hard work. it took a long time to put the weight on, and it wont melt off over night. please dont give up. you will lose weight.
