Avatar m tn While my old one was on antibiotics we were giving them soy yogurt and discovered she took her pills no problem when hidden in the yogurt. Recently though I was told soy is bad for dogs. I havE them plain soy yogurt because its lack of dairy and sugar. They didn't seem to have any problems with it, is it safe to give my pups?
Avatar n tn From what you have stated, you are appropriately 30lbs overweight. You did not state your age so I am not sure how many calories you need a day. If you want to lose weight, it is done by eating healthy and exercise. You need to do is increase your physical activities to 1/2 hour or more a day. That 1/2-hour or more can be broken up through the day, 10 minutes here and 20 minutes there. For example, park your car in the back of the parking lot and walk to the store.

Avatar f tn I am trying to lose 40 pounds, so I've started counting my calories and have stuck with it for nearly three weeks. At first it was difficult, but now I find my appetite lessening and I can eat 1400 in a day without feeling hungry. I want to know if this is healthy or not. I eat eggs, multigrain bread, Greek yogurt, fruits, sweet potatoes, avocados, soy nuts, and lean meats, so I think I'm getting my nutrients at least. I also eat a proportional balance of carbs/fats/protein.
Avatar f tn I suggest you have your son get checked out by his MD and have blood work done to see if his thyroid is acting up or not. It is recommended to increase children's physical activities to loss weight. Have your child go and play outdoors, run, walk, and dance. Limit time in front of the TV or non-active-video games. There have been studies showing the longer the length of time a child sit in front of the TV, the greater the weight gain.
Avatar n tn Carbs raise BG so restricting carbs will help BG. when you say 6 units I assume you mean 6 exchanges which is 90 gr of carbs. If you take 250 mg at each meal that is 750 mg a day, the limit is 2400mg a day so you have room to go up on the Met. It can take 6 to 8 weeks for met to become fully effective.
Avatar n tn The substitutes for dairy products are soymilk, lactaid milk (which has the lactase enzyme in it), rice milk, almond milk, soy cheese, soy yogurt, lactaid ice cream, soy ice cream, and rice ice cream. Lactase enzyme is sold in drugstores as a pill, which can be taken just as you have the dairy product so you do not have issues.
Avatar f tn Theres alot i do to curb that bad habit. I freeze my favorite fruits and eat them with lowfat yogurt. Or when i want that over loaded sugar ice cream i will eat a premade mixed fruit cup maybe add a lil lime. Or bananas with low fat whipcream or yogurt are yummy. You can even put bananas on peanut butter toast.Just mix it up.Comparing the health benifit always makes me choose better. It tastes better knowing your benifiting baby, not adding jiggle lol.
Avatar n tn Here are some more suggestions to increase her calcium sources: Give her yogurt, yogurt smoothies (yogurt, fruit, and ice cream blended), all types of cheeses, ice cream, puddings, put cheese on vegetables or make them with heavy cream sauce. Mix yogurt into fruit and have snack cheese sticks. Make pasta and cheese or add cheese to rice and beans. Some children will accept whole milk if you add chocolate or strawberry flavor mix to it.
557907 tn?1215882569 I have Celiac disease [need to eliminate all gluten from wheat, rye, barley and oats] and I am very dairy intolerant -- to the point that I have to keep any dairy products from all foods and medication (lactose in meds is a problem). I have been using soy milk, absolutely love soy yogurt, and enjoy tofu to fill-in for all the dairy foods I can not have. Boooo! No more Purely Decadant Soy Ice Cream. Yumm! This is pure torture!!!!
Avatar f tn I was the same way and I ate apple and peanut butter and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I also ate a ton of dairy (cereal w milk, cottage cheese, cheese, cream cheese). You can also buy protein powder from GNC (check w OB first) and mix it in smoothies or get it in smoothies from Jamba Juice or another smoothie place. I also ate lots of yogurt which is also good for the tummy.
2028721 tn?1356682003 I just got braces so I need something soft. I decided to try Chapmans Frozen Yogurt. I go to the gym and do weight training and have a fear of gaining weight as I used to be obese. Is frozen yogurt bad for you?
544684 tn?1240118000 If not, then she would be underweight. Soy base formula is given to infants so she can have soy milk, soy yogurt, soy ice cream. Suggest Pediasure (dairy free), nutrient dense drink instead of milk for all meals and snacks for additional calories and protein to help her to grow and gain weight. Hoped this helped you.
Avatar f tn As for Soy, Asians eat a lot of soy in their diet, Soy formula is a good choice for infants, Soy-containing foods help prevent osteoporosis, Soy is a healthy food for adults, Soy helps improve libido in men. The above about Soy is false. Those who eat large amounts of soy, especially non-fermented soy, have severe hormonal imbalances that are very difficult or impossible to correct without eliminating or drastically reducing soy in the diet. i have seen soy as an ingredient added to tea bags!
1319721 tn?1276040968 The difference between simple and complex carbs is that simple carbs are broken down quickly for energy and if not used will be stored as fat........
Avatar f tn My experience and reading leads me to believe that higher tendency towards easy triggers for candida or yeast is a part of CFS/Fibro. It can be unbelievable how much easier it is to get. Taking antibiotics, lack of genital ventilation or heavy perperation & heat, eating more sugars (or carbs that easily convert to sugar and don't forget sodas, sweet tea etc), sexual activity, and yeasty foods all contribute to yeast overrun.
Avatar f tn tofu, soy milk, soy yogurt, soy pudding, and soy ice cream. Incomplete proteins you need to combine foods such as beans and rice, pasta with vegetables, peanut butter and bread, nuts in salad, and beans with pasta. You can try any of the above to get protein in her for each meal. Milkshakes (milk, fresh fruit, and ice cream) are also good for extra protein too.
Avatar f tn varies significantly..normally lean meat and some sort of veggies (either steamed or a salad) and usually a small serving of beans (goof fiber) that is a typical day for me. I don't really eat candy at all, btu if I do it is 4 almond M&M's or 1 square of dark (70%) chocolate. Or I will eat a slim-a-bear or skinny cow ice cream treat about twice a month. I drink water, no soda, no tea, no sugar Thanks for your suggestions.
Avatar m tn The substitutes for dairy products are soymilk, rice milk, almond milk, soy cheese, soy yogurt, soy ice cream, and rice ice cream. Hoped that helped you.
Avatar f tn Suggest for now, since she has a poor appetite, make milkshakes out of soy milk, soy yogurt (can use soy ice cream), and frozen fruit blended or lactaid milk and soy or lactaid ice cream blended which will give her extra calories, protein, vitamins and minerals to help increase her weight. Suggest giving her milkshakes at each meal. Hoped this helped you.
Avatar n tn In the meantime, get some soy yogurt, or get a yogurt maker, some live milk yogurt to use as a starter culture, and some soy milk and make your own soy yogurt (again cheaper, and a better product). To bulk your stools, try psyllium husks - available in capsules or ground so you can add ity to breakfast cereals or stir in water. All the best.
19424576 tn?1477442250 I went semi-vegetarian (actually, pescetarian*) during this summer break. At first, I tried to balance appropriately the proteins and nutrients, but then, I experienced a situation of total stress due to a change of school during my senior of high school and let's say that I forgot about nutrients. Different teachers, tons of homework, lack of sleep (I slept like 5-2 hrs per night), new classmates and bla, bla, bla.
1027304 tn?1333973406 With that said, high-calcium foods contain proteins (milk, cheese, yogurt) as well as hard boiled eggs or egg whites, soy-based snack bars, nuts and seeds, tofu stir fry, even TVP are some better choices until you can stomach meat and legumes again. All the best to you and your baby!
Avatar m tn Suggest drinking either nutrient dense drinks (in addition to eating your meals) such as ensure or make your own milkshakes - soy yogurt, soy milk, and frozen fruit blended together; or milk, ice cream, and frozen fruit blended together for extra calories, protein and nutrients to help increase your weight. Thank you for your question.
