Once the chicken is cooked, I remove the chicken and place it in the Broth that has been boiling on low. Then in the same pan with a little more chicken broth, I cook 100 grams of chopped cabbage placing in any spices that you want to use. Once cooked, I add the cabbage to the broth and chicken and bring to a boil.
Avatar f tn What kind of diet are you on? Try adjusting your diet. Do Not Eat: White carbs (white bread, flour pasta, crackers, white rice, pastries, donuts, etc) Sugar (no white or brown sugar, no sugar substitutes, no honey) No soda (no regular or diet soda) No fruit juice (unless organic, all natural and unsweetened) No energy drinks, gatorade etc.
Avatar n tn Avoiding soy has been a major problem for me since discovering the thyroid problem. I also have Celiac (must avoid gluten as wheat, rye, barley, plus am one of those who needs to avoid oats too) + Dairy Intolerance (no cow's milk products of any kind in foods or medications). Before the thyroid prob was dx'd, I was using soy/tofu as a good source of protein and calcium, besides trying to limit the amount of meat in my diet.
Avatar f tn Rice and corn flour have no gluten. I eat Rice Chex for breakfast. I buy gluten free flour made from rice. Beware of Chinese food, which contains a lot of soy. Don't mix rice with soy sauce. Read the post, "To soy or not to soy" in this forum. I have listed gluten free sites and links to recipes.
Avatar f tn I suggest you have your son get checked out by his MD and have blood work done to see if his thyroid is acting up or not. It is recommended to increase children's physical activities to loss weight. Have your child go and play outdoors, run, walk, and dance. Limit time in front of the TV or non-active-video games. There have been studies showing the longer the length of time a child sit in front of the TV, the greater the weight gain.
Avatar n tn pasta), low fat and substitute dairy products (1% milk, low fat/fat free yogurts, low fat soy milk/soy yogurt), use plant oils, non trans-fat margarines, and eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. My heart rate is about 45-55 and bp is 100/70. I have managed to drop to 66 kgs but i fluctuate so much. to even about 69 kgs.
Avatar f tn As for Soy, Asians eat a lot of soy in their diet, Soy formula is a good choice for infants, Soy-containing foods help prevent osteoporosis, Soy is a healthy food for adults, Soy helps improve libido in men. The above about Soy is false. Those who eat large amounts of soy, especially non-fermented soy, have severe hormonal imbalances that are very difficult or impossible to correct without eliminating or drastically reducing soy in the diet. i have seen soy as an ingredient added to tea bags!

Avatar n tn Peel and cube potatoes, cook them in chicken broth. When it is done, pour out the extra chicken broth, sprinkle with dried parsley and use a fork to break up the potatoes. No need to add butter therefore no added calories. Enjoy.
1319721 tn?1276040968 The difference between simple and complex carbs is that simple carbs are broken down quickly for energy and if not used will be stored as fat........
Avatar f tn I am trying to lose 40 pounds, so I've started counting my calories and have stuck with it for nearly three weeks. At first it was difficult, but now I find my appetite lessening and I can eat 1400 in a day without feeling hungry. I want to know if this is healthy or not. I eat eggs, multigrain bread, Greek yogurt, fruits, sweet potatoes, avocados, soy nuts, and lean meats, so I think I'm getting my nutrients at least. I also eat a proportional balance of carbs/fats/protein.
Avatar f tn He still loves pears, apples (canned, fresh or mashed) Loves peas, carrots but out of the blue is refusing potatoes (reg or fries), will eat chicken nuggets but not deli meat chicken or turkey. Also refusing hamburger. Sometimes will eat pasta or hamburger but then after 2-3 pieces spits it our and throws a fit. He also does this sometimes with fries too. Question is what can I feed him.
Avatar f tn It depends on the kind of soy. Soy doesn't cause thyroid problems, but some people with Hashimoto's Disease, a form of hypothyroid autoimmune disease, can have bad reactions to soy. Soy milk is fine, tofu is fine, tempeh and other fermented soy products such as miso and natto and real soy sauce (this doesn't mean Kikkoman) are fine, fresh soy beans (edamame) are fine, but this shouldn't obviously be the sum total of your diet.
Avatar f tn The alternative to raw nuts would be 15 mini pretzels or some soy crisps. I am confused about which direction to go.
748902 tn?1286034758 Return the chicken to the pan and simmer for a further 2 minutes until the chicken is piping hot throughout. Add the beansprouts and egg noodles and heat through. Add 2 teaspoons soy sauce and mix. 4. Stir through the zest and juice of another lime and garnish the noodles with lime wedges to serve.
Avatar n tn The key is looking at portion size (how much carbs) and making sure that you eat fat, protein and carbs together to slow digestion and keep blood sugars stable.
Avatar n tn For dinner I will have about 35 carbs rice and vegi and chicken. I will walk 30 mins after that. Am I taking too little carbs. What problems will it cause by having too little carbs? If I keep doing this forever will I have diabetes complications? I think I consider myself pre-diabetes at this point and yet I need to be confirmed by the doctor. Thanks a lot.
Avatar f tn t do soy protein. Soy has estrogen in it.
Avatar f tn dairy and wheat being the first two things to avoid to see if that helps, and obviously to avoid the sugary sweets and the simple carbs such as white flour and too much fruit and try to get as many colored vegetables in the diet as is possible. Organic is somewhat more expensive, but it avoids a lot of added allergens and toxic chemicals that excite the immune system and the liver and the hormonal system.
Avatar f tn pasta), low fat and substitute dairy products (1% milk, low fat/fat free yogurts, low fat soy milk/soy yogurt), use plant oils, non trans-fat margarines, and eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. Eat daily high fiber breads and cereals (oatmeal).
1041627 tn?1253112010 There are some theories out there that growth hormones (such as those in beef and chicken), environmental toxins such as DDT, food packaging, as well as food cooked in certain plastic containers or wraps are sources of artificial estrogrens that really mess up how our ovaries behave. I personally also wonder about artificial sweeteners (all of them) and their tendency to collect in the reproductive system for awhile. I think one day medical science will make a much bigger deal about this.
Avatar n tn I use matzoh meal instead of bread crumbs. I have not found chocolate candy without soy. I buy organic free range chicken broth (read the label) and Tom's of Maine toothpaste. I avoid "natural flavors" and "artifical flavors" since they are often soy. MSG, monoglycerides and diglycerides are also soy. Bare Minerals make up does not contain soy. Shampoo/conditioner is tricky...read the label. Eucerin for sensitive skin is OK. Dove soap is soy free.
Avatar f tn Soy products/tofu are good sources of protein, however, if you have thyroid issues, you should not eat/drink soy. Beans and legumes are also good sources of protein, as are eggs, dairy (milk, cheese, yogurt) and whole grains. I don't eat soy, a lot of beans or legumes, so, unfortunately, I can't provide recipes, but you can do a search.
Avatar m tn I would suggested you read the labels for carbs and check with either your primary or endo to see if the number of carbs are okay for you to ingest?
1419848 tn?1283643589 Try cutting down on sugar and carbs, plus add some moderate exercise to your diet plan. The reason this works is that excess sugar and refined carbs cause high blood sugar, which in turn causes high insulin, which stimulates the ovaries to make androgens (male hormones). You can also try some of these ideas as well: 1. Take nutritional supplements to lower your testosterone.
