carb

Avatar n tn I do wasabi soy almonds! Real good and 28 nuts are only 6g carbs! I also do pears in light syrup it's only like 12g of carbs...
Avatar f tn if you crave something more salty or crave nuts, you need to increase your protein intake. If you crave carbs like bread, crackers, and fruit, then you need more instant carbs. I normally only allow myself 1/4 c nuts daily, unless you eat no other carbs except meat and veggies, then you can up it to 1/2 c. Otherwise, maybe do the whole half a sandwhich and peanut butter, will fill you up more. Only do the pretzels if you crave bread.
Avatar f tn I saw an accupuncturist who told me to stay away from spicy foods as they are believed to increase inflammation. I have a passion for horseradish and wasabi so this was not easy for me. Sometimes I eat them and think I feel worse the next day and sometimes I think there is no impact at all, but it may have to do with the fact I do try to avoid these foods and only eat them on special occasions when I am likely to over exert myself anyway.
1783159 tn?1450763556 Foods high in protein (lean meats, legumes), Foods containing healthy fats (olive oil, nuts, fish) are recommended. Intake of soy products would be beneficial as high intake of soy has been associated with lower androgens and higher oestrogen levels. Any dietary modification should be done in consultation with a dietician. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn I am trying to lose 40 pounds, so I've started counting my calories and have stuck with it for nearly three weeks. At first it was difficult, but now I find my appetite lessening and I can eat 1400 in a day without feeling hungry. I want to know if this is healthy or not. I eat eggs, multigrain bread, Greek yogurt, fruits, sweet potatoes, avocados, soy nuts, and lean meats, so I think I'm getting my nutrients at least. I also eat a proportional balance of carbs/fats/protein.
Avatar n tn I had shrimp n asparagus sushi with wasabi n soy sauce n seseeme chicken :))) mmmmm
500923 tn?1210168927 I agree with Stella on a good diet limiting sugar, no artificial sweetners, no msg. I think the best nuts to snack on are almonds. I think some of the complex carbs are important in moderation. Good protein and lots of veggies. Some fruits are okay in moderation if you do not have a candida problem.
Avatar f tn You are underweight for your height as you stated. You need to consume approximately 2000 calories per day to maintain your weight. Since you are underweight, suggest gaining weight slowly, try to eat a Heart Healthy diet which will give you the nutrients, vitamins and minerals your body needs, and help with possibly preventing future disease states.
1451080 tn?1438527660 s different. How many carbs are you allowed? That makes a difference. Some low carb diets are less then 30 carbs a day, and some are 30-50 carbs a day. Blood pressure...well for one, dark chocolate is great at lowering blood pressure. Not only does it taste great, but it's great for your body! Eat about 3 ounces a day of 70% cocoa dark chocolate. Also, red grapes as well and vitamin C (like oranges). Also, while on the low carb diet watch the salt intake.
214607 tn?1287677559 well all I can have these days is avocado roll with soy sauce and wasabi to make me feel a bit better LOL. I haven't real sushi and sashimi in seven months :0) but it's all worth it. :0) I wonder if we can have it after giving birth if decided to breast feed? what do you ladies think? With california roll as long as it's fake crab meat I guess you will be fine. Most sushi restaurants serve fake crab meat anyway.
Avatar n tn Avoiding soy has been a major problem for me since discovering the thyroid problem. I also have Celiac (must avoid gluten as wheat, rye, barley, plus am one of those who needs to avoid oats too) + Dairy Intolerance (no cow's milk products of any kind in foods or medications). Before the thyroid prob was dx'd, I was using soy/tofu as a good source of protein and calcium, besides trying to limit the amount of meat in my diet.
1319721 tn?1276040968 The difference between simple and complex carbs is that simple carbs are broken down quickly for energy and if not used will be stored as fat........
Avatar n tn Carbs raise BG so restricting carbs will help BG. when you say 6 units I assume you mean 6 exchanges which is 90 gr of carbs. If you take 250 mg at each meal that is 750 mg a day, the limit is 2400mg a day so you have room to go up on the Met. It can take 6 to 8 weeks for met to become fully effective.
Avatar n tn For dinner I will have about 35 carbs rice and vegi and chicken. I will walk 30 mins after that. Am I taking too little carbs. What problems will it cause by having too little carbs? If I keep doing this forever will I have diabetes complications? I think I consider myself pre-diabetes at this point and yet I need to be confirmed by the doctor. Thanks a lot.
Avatar f tn As for Soy, Asians eat a lot of soy in their diet, Soy formula is a good choice for infants, Soy-containing foods help prevent osteoporosis, Soy is a healthy food for adults, Soy helps improve libido in men. The above about Soy is false. Those who eat large amounts of soy, especially non-fermented soy, have severe hormonal imbalances that are very difficult or impossible to correct without eliminating or drastically reducing soy in the diet. i have seen soy as an ingredient added to tea bags!
Avatar n tn Eat low fat meats (chicken, fish, loin of pork) or non-meat sources (soy products, nuts), low fat vegetarian combinations (rice & beans, pasta & beans, low fat cheese & pasta), low fat and substitute dairy products (1% milk, low fat/fat free yogurts, low fat soy milk/soy yogurt), use plant oils, non trans-fat margarines, and eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. Eat daily high fiber breads and cereals (oatmeal).
1276890 tn?1271027818 Suggest you take a daily multi-vitamin and increase calcium consummation (soy milk, soy cheese, soy yogurt, leafy green vegetables) for stronger bones. It is important to eat the right combination of foods so you have the proper proteins and nutrients for your body too.
Avatar m tn Actually, vegetarian diets don't in and of themselves make you skinny -- if you eat a lot of simple carbs you'll get as fat as anyone else. Meat diets don't make people fat, if you eat lean meat in reasonable portions you'll be thinner than most vegetarians. It's how much and what you eat, not the ideology, that determines weight.
Avatar f tn I'm diabetic too. All about porportions. Maybe skip your dinner carbs in exchange for a half cup of Ice cream and then walk after. Just don't over indulge. Always read labels.
1464587 tn?1307491605 It seems to me from what I've read that most LLMD's are suggesting gluten free diets. I myself have been gluten free for nearly a year (I've cheated a couple of times for a piece of cheesecake), but for the most part, I'm pretty good. An added bonus is that you tend to eat much healthier when going gluten free which of course, is a good thing. I also try to stay diary free but am not as strict with that.
Avatar f tn It depends on the kind of soy. Soy doesn't cause thyroid problems, but some people with Hashimoto's Disease, a form of hypothyroid autoimmune disease, can have bad reactions to soy. Soy milk is fine, tofu is fine, tempeh and other fermented soy products such as miso and natto and real soy sauce (this doesn't mean Kikkoman) are fine, fresh soy beans (edamame) are fine, but this shouldn't obviously be the sum total of your diet.
Avatar n tn You get protein by using dairy products which can come from animal or plant sources, such as, milk, soy milk, rice milk, almond milk, yogurt, soy yogurt, cheese, soy cheese, soy ice cream, and rice ice cream. If you are a vegetarian you need to combine grains and nuts/seeds for essential protein have to be used daily such as rice and beans, pasta and beans, nuts to oatmeal, peanut butter and bread, and salad and nuts. Eat more raw fruits and vegetables for vitamins and minerals.
Avatar f tn I suggest you have your son get checked out by his MD and have blood work done to see if his thyroid is acting up or not. It is recommended to increase children's physical activities to loss weight. Have your child go and play outdoors, run, walk, and dance. Limit time in front of the TV or non-active-video games. There have been studies showing the longer the length of time a child sit in front of the TV, the greater the weight gain.
Avatar f tn Out toddler is allergic to soy. He is also allergic to peanuts and should avoid pineapple, strawberries, green beans, & of course other nuts. Would it be harmful to him if there are soy products in the house? Namely products that might contain soy lecithin or soybean oil in the last few ingredients. Obviously these foods would not be given to him, but is it necessary to remove these items? We do not know what his exact reaction to soy is, in the past it was a few hives around the mouth.
Avatar m tn the next day i went to a japanese buffet and used a lot of wasabi on everything i ate. later that day i noticed the corner of my lips drying up. could it be the stripper or the wasabi?
Avatar f tn As a vegan you need to combine grains and nuts / seeds for essential protein have to be used daily such as rice and beans, pasta and beans, nuts to oatmeal, peanut butter and bread, and salad and nuts. You can also eat the soy and rice products mention above. Eat more raw fruits and vegetables for vitamins and minerals. Eat them as snacks or add them to your salads with additional nuts.
Avatar n tn As a vegan you need to add protein to your diet. You are consuming plenty of carbohydrates but very little protein, vitamins and minerals. You did not mention if you were taking any supplements. Vegans need vitamin B12 and calcium supplements. Suggest you take a daily multi-vitamin and increase calcium consummation (soy milk, soy cheese, soy yogurt, leafy green vegetables) for stronger bones.
19424576 tn?1477442250 I went semi-vegetarian (actually, pescetarian*) during this summer break. At first, I tried to balance appropriately the proteins and nutrients, but then, I experienced a situation of total stress due to a change of school during my senior of high school and let's say that I forgot about nutrients. Different teachers, tons of homework, lack of sleep (I slept like 5-2 hrs per night), new classmates and bla, bla, bla.
