Avatar f tn 3 servings of dairy/day has been shown to help with weight loss. Try to stay with low/no fat varieties. Milk is actually quite low in carbs and it's an excellent course of protein, calcium and vitamin B12. Other dairy products, such as fat free yogurt, cheese, cottage cheese, etc are all good for you.
Avatar m tn Full fat dairy is considered healthier by many than modified products, while others advocate non- or low-fat. For health purposes, avoiding dairy would be the best thing, as most people don't tolerate it very well but don't always notice that until later in life, but if this is just an occasional treat and you don't notice increased inflammation or mucous then go for it.

Avatar n tn My teenage daughter is a type 1, and her nutritionist said milk was great, as long as she counted the carbs and covered it with insulin. She drinks milk with dinner regularly. Milk is a great food, especially lowfat/fat-free milk. Are you covering your son's milk with insulin? As long as you cover the carbs in the milk with insulin, he should be able to drink it. It's much better for a diabetic than juice or soda.

I still have plenty of bread, cereal, pasta and so on every day, I just try not to overdo it and I fill up on vegetables whenever I can. Avatar f tn High fat milk is not bad! Our country is starting to change those outdated recommendations. Full fat keeps you fuller for longer, so you'll be drinking less lactose in the long run (it's the milk sugars that will pack on the unhealthy weight, not the fats) and the fats are actually helpful, providing essential nutrients for growing a baby.

532657 tn?1213131909 Preworkout Shake Start with 1 1/2 scoops of protein powder (about 30 grams) and 12 ounces of nonfat milk instead of water. This yields roughly 240 calories, 40 grams of protein, 16 grams of carbs, and 3 grams of fat. Toss in some fruit for flavor, or a tablespoon of peanut butter or almond butter for a creamier shake. These will boost calories, carbs, and fat, but they're good for your overall diet Buzz the concoction in a blender. Add ice if you like your shakes thicker.

988694 tn?1332359479 To be honest it has been only one week and I am eating more carbs (gluten free bread and crackers and potatoes) and more dairy, because of the protein (lactaid, Greek yogurt and cheeses), but I am even more bloated than before and I don't want to eat anymore....it is a vicious circle. I was thinking about going dairy free, but I am wondering if I should wait more on the gluten free diet.Maybe the carbs are making me bloated?
1301482 tn?1325722991 The simple carbs are broken down quickly and enter the blood stream as sugar, which if not used, is then stored as fat. Complex carbs/fiber are broken down slowly and keeps you feeling fuller longer. Low carb diets advocate eliminating most fruits, veggies, milk, etc and centering on high protein, high fat foods (check out the Atkins diet). Unfortunately, by eliminating dairy, veggies, fruits, etc, you also eliminate a lot of the vitamins/minerals and fiber that's so important.
2059648 tn?1439766665 Of all the fats I learned about during the Incviek stage Almond Milk is the one I still incorporate in my diet. 35 calories, no milk sugar carbs, lots of protein and calcium and 3 or 4 grams of fat...sign me up!! Oh, and low carb vanilla ice cream. Man it was incredible. Plus, there's always walnuts and almonds and foods prepared in olive oil.
