Avatar n tn i eat unbuttered popcorn, jello, sugar free popcicles, and cheese or ham and i like to roll the ham and cheese up as a little protein free snack
Avatar n tn Low fat is not necessary to control diabetes and especially not for a child unless he is grossly overweight. Sugar free, yes, low fat no. He is eating a lot of carbs; for an adult this would drive his insulin use up, but I understand carbs aren't limited as much for children. You might want to go onto a board where there are a lot more parents and children with Type 1. Send me a private message if you want some urls.
Avatar f tn try an apple or celery sticks with the peanut butter. Apples have lots of complex carbs, which take a while to break down, so they don't spike your blood sugar. An ounce of cheese is also good.
Avatar m tn Hi :) i'm on Diamicron 60mg i take 2 pills in the morning and i eat a small quantity of carbs always my BG don't raise more than 40-50 points after a meal i watch carefully the carbs that i'm taking and thanks for your time .
Avatar f tn My meal plan is breakfast I get 30 grams of carbs with no fruit and a snack 2 hours later containing 15 grams of carbs lunch and dinner I get 45 grams of carbs with a snack two hours after each meal. Snacks could be crackers with cheese or apples with peanut butter, just really watch your carb intake.
Avatar f tn A good snack might be an apple with peanut butter, where the apple is the fiber and the peanut butter is the protein. Watch the peanut butter, though, because it does have a lot of fat, even if it's "good" fat.
Avatar f tn Sugar is not just in sweets, candy, etc. Carbs play a part in your sugar intake and glucose levels.
1301482 tn?1325722991 There are 2 types of carbs; simple carbs, such as those found in sodas, things made with white refined sugar, flour, white rice, and even fruit. The other type of carb is the complex carb (otherwise known as dietary fiber), which is found in whole grains, veggies, seeds, nuts, etc. The simple carbs are broken down quickly and enter the blood stream as sugar, which if not used, is then stored as fat. Complex carbs/fiber are broken down slowly and keeps you feeling fuller longer.
Avatar f tn thank u :))..will try to do that..hope it works!
Avatar f tn That sounds like low blood sugar, keep some snacks with you, anything with peanut butter is great for getting your sugar up in a hurry. I keep nutter butters and a juice box in my purse at all times for situations like that.
7826135 tn?1394734754 m allowed to eat. The nurse said to avoid and foods with sugar and stay away from tge carbs! So what am I allowed to eat? I really dont want to have to take the three hour one! Mommies please help!
1655866 tn?1320498966 Simple carbs are broken down and absorbed by the body very quickly, and if not used immediately as energy, quickly turn to fat and will be stored in the body. Simple carbs include any food made with sugar, white flour or white rice; this would include junk (candies, pastries, etc) and fast foods. In addition to carbs, junk and fast food tend to have a lot of fat in them.
1139187 tn?1355706647 There are several things this could be, and the one thing that stands out to me is low blood sugar. When this happens try eating something with carbs or sugar and see if you feel better...if you do then it is low blood sugar. Either way you need to contact your Endo doctor to have blood work done to determine what is going on. I don't feel this is anxiety and with a bad thyroid it could be something related to that. I hope this helps and let us know if eating at these times helps.
1461073 tn?1308677548 Hello I am new to this forum and was sitting on the MH site while eating 2 pieces of this pie with whipped cream on top of them (Yes I said 2, Please do not Judge me I am a Weak Chocoholic especially during the Holidays and have made 2 of these pies TWICE since Thanksgiving. So it looks like my New Years Resolution yet again this coming year will be to LOSE WEIGHT)-more about that in year 2011.
1428239 tn?1333457053 You could start drinking Ensure to increase your caloric and nutritional intake....that's what they recommend if you're losing weight during pregnancy. With that being said....I would talk to my doc since you are so small, you can't afford to lose a lot...but I wouldn't worry in the meantime. Just up your calorie intake by eating more caloric food, not by eating MORE. And that doesn't mean like chips...
1305767 tn?1361192676 I keep having these strange episodes every day when I become very drowsy and my mind feels like it's blanking out and I can't concentrate. My vision also gets slightly blurry. It lasts for about 20-30 minutes (sometimes eating and drinking water helps) and generally occurs about two hours after getting up for the day. It seems like the harder I try to concentrate during the episode the worse it gets and I get nauseated.
Avatar f tn I have serious sweets cravings alot too. I try to at least make sure that whatever I'm eating is low in something, either fat or sugar or carbs. Like angel food cake is fat free and I'll dip it in fat free cool whip. It still has alot of carbs. But it's better than eating a big piece of chocolate cake that's got the carbs and the fat. (Warning: do NOT get the fat free AND sugar free angel food cake tho! i got severe gas and gas pains for like 24 hours!!!
3126253 tn?1345384121 o) if I want something sweet ill have apples with peanut butter.. as long as you always include a protein you should feel better..
Avatar m tn sometimes they add up a lot quicker than we think. Like that fat free peanut butter -- check the calorie and sugar contents; if fat is removed from a food, manufacturers tend to add more sugar for flavor; likewise if sugar is removed, fat is often added for flavor.
Avatar f tn you can have all carrots and celery sticks you want and the peanut butter gives you protein and healthy fat. An apple and peanut butter is also good. Apples do have a lot of sugar, but again, that fiber helps keep the sugar from entering the blood stream too quickly. I agree that buying chicken and fish (or other meats) in bulk, on sale and repackaging them into individual servings (or meals), will save you money and time. Or you can cook meals ahead and freeze them for quick reheating.
Avatar f tn Snacks I eat are veggies with humus or peanut butter. The veggies have low carbs and the humus and peanut butter are good to fill you up for a longer period of time because of their proteins and fiber! I also eat cheese and crackers for the same reasons...drink lots of cold water because that boost metabolism due to your body having to warm up the fluid! Sometimes it helps when I wait until I have been awake for 20/30 minutes in the morning...
Avatar f tn Eliminate whole milk and make it low fat, no more chocolate milk which has corn syrup added. Try to limit simple carbs like high sugar foods in certain snacks and increase her water intake with small water bottles in her lunch or with dinner, snacks are good but keep them healthy like graham crackers, peanut butter, lean cheeses and turkey or ham or yogurt(lowfat or low sugar). Increase her activity, if she is at gymnastics 2 times a week that is great!
