Avatar f tn High fat milk is not bad! Our country is starting to change those outdated recommendations. Full fat keeps you fuller for longer, so you'll be drinking less lactose in the long run (it's the milk sugars that will pack on the unhealthy weight, not the fats) and the fats are actually helpful, providing essential nutrients for growing a baby.
Avatar n tn My teenage daughter is a type 1, and her nutritionist said milk was great, as long as she counted the carbs and covered it with insulin. She drinks milk with dinner regularly. Milk is a great food, especially lowfat/fat-free milk. Are you covering your son's milk with insulin? As long as you cover the carbs in the milk with insulin, he should be able to drink it. It's much better for a diabetic than juice or soda.

1900997 tn?1321659956 Hi, For some time (ever since I had my gallbladder removed in 2008, in fact), I have been having problems whenever I drink milk: a couple of hours later, I get ferocious stomach pain and flatulence that smells of milk, quite often also diarrhoea. So I switched to lactose-free milk, but this has not brought about any improvement whatsoever. Skimmed milk is just as bad as full fat, so it can't be the fat content either.

Avatar f tn You can still loose weight while on any Psychotropic meds. The key is exersise and food choices. You don't have to starve yourself either. I take Protriptilyne, lamictal, Klonopin, and Lithium 900Mgs a day. This is what some would call "asking to get fat." In 6 months I went from 230Lbs to 175Lbs and added 20 Lbs of solid muscle. I did this with weights, supplimentation, and dumping foods that cause fat. I even eat some fatty foods too.
