Avatar f tn Reduce the carbs you eat. I took out bread as this started to cause me trouble and replaced with homemade alternatives. One of which was banana pancakes made with ground down almond instead of flour. Delicious!
Avatar f tn I found out I was a diabetic when i found out I was pregnant i thought the same thing that I couldn't eat anything what really does it is the carbs if you eat carbs just eat a little and no sweets at all
Avatar f tn This means that your best source of carbs are vegetables (rahter than bread, rice, pasta etc). With diabetes, fruits also need to be limited (particularly the sweet tropical fruits) as they are high in sugar. If you do eat foods like rice and bread, you should eat brown rice and wholegrain bread. As foods with more fibre will slow absorption. But still only eat in moderation. Make s ure you eat fat and protein with your carbs. This will also slow absorption.
Avatar f tn Are you scared of carbs because of weight gain or you have like a phobia? If its due to the possibility of gaining weight, chill out babe. I went for a few years totally avoiding carbs and I lost weight! I ended up going through a bit of depression and started not caring about weight gain. Gained about 10 kilo's Now I'm on a diet and having some carbs. I feel much fuller and healthier for introducing it to my diet. I'm still losing weight. Slowly though because I am type 1 diabetic.
18714950 tn?1467217560 The carbs which should be restricted are sugars, sweetened foods, foods made from grains (bread, pasta, noodles, rice, corn), sweet fruits, starchy carbs such potato. Vegetables are healthy and should be eaten abundantly, aside from the starchy ones. Salad vegetables also ok. Protein has minimal effect on blood sugar, and good quality proteins should be eaten. Fats don't impact blood sugar. Healthy fats should be eaten to make up energy requirements.
Avatar f tn ve been trying to eat healthy and I have shrimp salads or chicken salads for dinner, breakfast is usually kix cereal or honey nut cherios with a banana and coffee. For lunch just have a sandwich on a healthy bread and use mustard instead of mayo. For snacks I enjoy fruit , pretzels, yogurt, rice cakes, or carrots. There's a great website called myfitnesspal.com it has been helping me out alot! Goodluck and I hope this helped!
Avatar f tn Carbs are in bread, pasta, veggies, etc. They are everywhere and they are good for you, complex carbs.
Avatar n tn We have come up with recipes for cookies, pancakes, spaghetti sauce, chili, banana bread, etc. We also do tacos with corn tortillas and sometimes have 'beanie tacos' (that my kids really like) where we put refried beans, onions, and sauce on the corn tortillas. Rice Chex and Honey Nut Chex work well for cereals. Does any of that sound like it would work for your family?
2028721 tn?1356682003 The only veggies I see is tomato and the only fruit I see is the banana. I also see very little fiber, which would be the bread. Veggies are one of the best things you can eat to lose/maintain weight. They have tons of complex carbs/fiber, which help fill you up, and keep you "regular", plus all the vitamins/minerals you get. I don't ever agree with a diet that eliminates any food group(s). Yours seems to eliminate most everything, but protein.
Avatar f tn Hain weight healthy! So First of all you should prefer carbs. Just like brown rice. Whole grain bread etc. and there are a lot of healthy fats. High in calories. Like avocado, peanut butter and olive oil. Also try to eat the high fat versions. Just like that: Breakfast: -2 cups of oatmeal, one cup of whole fat milk, Greek yoghurt with 10% fat and one large table spoon peanut butter. That add one banana.
172023 tn?1334672284 Here are some of my favorite, easy breakfasts. Each provides a good balance of healthy carbs, fats, protein, and fiber. Don't skip breakfast! There's no excuse if you keep the ingredients on hand, and get up a couple minutes early. 1. 1 cup fat free cottage cheese with 1/2 cup diced fruit of choice. 2. 1/2 cup oatmeal made with 3/4 cup skim milk, 1 small cubed apple and 5 chopped nut pieces mixed in. 3. 1 cup shredded wheat cereal with 1/2-3/4 cup skim milk, sliced banana 4.
178698 tn?1228774338 they did a urinalysis and the nurse asked me what I ate for breakfast. I said I had a small bowl of cheerios (honey nut), banana and milk (in the cereal). She said that I was spilling sugar into my urine and for me to eat breakfast high in protein...like eggs....okay I can do that.. But now I'm wondering what the likeliness is that I may now have gestational diabetes? If so what will I be able to eat??? Do I cut out all breads, sugar, rice, -- basically carbs??
Avatar f tn One 8-inch banana contains 120 Calories, which is about the same as one 40 g slice of white bread. Bananas are soft and sweet, so it can be tempting to eat them few in a row. So, it depends how many of them you eat.
687527 tn?1227108766 (. I eat pretty much everything (although I stay away from greasy foods and some steaks since I'm not a big meat fan) white and red meat, fish, vegetables, fruits, bread, corn and I always have either porridge or a toast for breakfast :| I've tried pretty much everything!
Avatar f tn For me, I cannot eat potatoes or carrots at all. Obviously any white bread. Probiotic bread works the best. For breakfast I usually have a whole wheat English muffin or tortilla with peanut butter, and half a banana if in the tortilla. Snack I usually have milk with protein powder. Lunch salad with toast or crackers. Dinner stir fry or pasta. Just find what works for you, and watch the amounts of carbohydrates. Once you get used to it it's really not that bad.

Avatar f tn simple carbs are those found in sugary foods, white breads and regular pasta, sodas, etc. Simple carbs are broken down quickly and if not used right away for energy, will be stored as fat. These are the ones that should be avoided. Complex carbs are those found in vegetables, most fruits and whole grains. Complex carbs are the dietary fiber we need, to fill us up. These take longer to break down and are not absorbed, as fat.
Avatar n tn Don't beat yourself up too badly over it, I'm in the same boat as you... I don't really overeat, and the things that I do eat, I think out and try to make healthy meals, but I still ended up with gestational diabetes. Unfortunately, it's just something that happens because of all of the weird things that happen in pregnancy. I've learned to just go with it... That being said, I was advised to count how many grams of carbs that I take in and what foods contain them.
