Avatar n tn a bag of low fat torilla chips and a water and a sugar free drink. afternoon snack is usually a banana or an kind of fruit. For dinner he eats a large portion of meat, some kind of starch (rice or potatoes) and ususally 2 different vegetables broccoli or green beans. At 8 o'clock he is starving again. He gets a lite snack sugar free jello or pudding and goes to bed and then he wakes up starving sometimes during the night or in the morning he acts like he never ate before.

I don't really overeat, and the things that I do eat, I think out and try to make healthy meals, but I still ended up with gestational diabetes. Unfortunately, it's just something that happens because of all of the weird things that happen in pregnancy. I've learned to just go with it... That being said, I was advised to count how many grams of carbs that I take in and what foods contain them.
Avatar m tn (net carbs is total carbs minus fiber carbs.) A snack is sometimes suggested to be 15 net carbs. (Yum, chunk of cheese and handful of pecans!) Offhand I dont know the net carb of an apple but you can look that up and think about it. When the sugar levels in your blood are too high, the blood becomes abrasive to your body. If you eat all of your carbs all at once, your blood sugar will go higher than if you ration it out over the course of a day.

But now from one day to another my sugar will NOT stabilize. I used to be between 70-90 now it goes from 47-198! I feel terrible all the time.

I went for a few years totally avoiding carbs and I lost weight! I ended up going through a bit of depression and started not caring about weight gain. Gained about 10 kilo's Now I'm on a diet and having some carbs. I feel much fuller and healthier for introducing it to my diet. I'm still losing weight. Slowly though because I am type 1 diabetic.

Avatar f tn If you do a lot of dairy the excess calcium might be overwhelming your magnesium. Try eating a banana while at work and see if that helps. Eat more leafy green vegetables, a good balanced source of magnesium and calcium. Make sure you're sleeping enough. You might need to eat more if you're, again, not used to exerting this much energy in a very hot environment, especially complex carbs such as brown rice that give you long-burning fuel.
2028721 tn?1356682003 For breakfast, you might try a hard boiled egg (protein/fat), 1-2 slices of whole grain toast (protein) with peanut butter (protein/fat) and sliced banana.... ever had a banana sandwich?? Yummy... Or you could do 2 scrambled eggs, loaded with fresh baby spinach, red/green/orange sweet peppers, mushrooms and chopped tomatoes.... another yummy. Of course, breakfast depends on how much time you have in the morning, before work, school, etc.
Avatar m tn Not as good as the white one in flavor. The best for your body is the green stevia. The stevia plant is green in color so I wonder what is being done to it to make it white. I would start with the green if I knew then what I know now.

It doesn't mean she can never eat those things. It just means they need to be limited. That being said, the main way to find out what works for your mother is to test, test, test. Eat something and then two hours after the meal test the blood sugar. The goal is to be under 140.
Avatar f tn Reduce the carbs you eat. I took out bread as this started to cause me trouble and replaced with homemade alternatives. One of which was banana pancakes made with ground down almond instead of flour. Delicious!

If he is like 300 and he drinks the diet green tea or water,(like 4 bottles in an hour or so) his b/s #'s start dropping rapidly. Like he could be 300 at 3pm and drink the water or green tea and by 4pm 268 and by 4:30pm 186 and by 5:30 138. Then at 5:30 we will have supper and he will eat carbs and have insulin ratio to carb. Then at 9pm he will be 100. About a month ago this same thing happend and at 1 AM he had a seizure.
7712902 tn?1393734882 s healthy carbs because it has fiber and great vitamins but you must take in to consideration they are still Carbohydrates and your body treats all simple carbs the same. 1 apple yields about 20-30 carbs, a banana is about 30+, and most fruits are similar. The only true difference between a piece of fruit and table sugar is fiber and vitamins as far as your body is concerned.
Avatar n tn I was told to keep monitoring him on a normal diet to see what the levels would be. Last night he had PBJ, green beans, a banana, and 2 cookies (we were having family movie night). They had convinced me he probably didn't have diabetes. They only did the test because I complained so much. anyways, now I feel guilty for what I fed him because his level was 313. So today I was trying to be real good. I fed him baked shrimp, some corn, and he had a low sugar koolaid. His level was 279.
Avatar f tn Make green smoothies using green leafy vegetables. Spinach & kale are great as add a banana for sweetness. You can add a bit of fruits but keep in mind some fruits are high in sugar. Take a food based prenatal you can find it on amazon or target. I take rainbow light it's high folic acid and non constipating iron.I'm 36wks and I'm.very regular abd have only gained 10lbs.

594189 tn?1386916607 I will have to try to find some cheep casseroles to make, since I have to watch my carbs my dr said not to eat corn cause it has 17 carbs- 2 fiber= 15 carbs per serving but green beans have 5 carbs- 1 fiber= 4 carbs per serving much better option, issue here is my husband will not eat green beans ( I'm sure you know that issue)
