Avatar f tn If its due to the possibility of gaining weight, chill out babe. I went for a few years totally avoiding carbs and I lost weight! I ended up going through a bit of depression and started not caring about weight gain. Gained about 10 kilo's Now I'm on a diet and having some carbs. I feel much fuller and healthier for introducing it to my diet. I'm still losing weight. Slowly though because I am type 1 diabetic.

I was wondering how you managed your diabetes and how strict you are with your diet, like do you only eat set meals throughout the day and stay away from foods with a high glycemic index? If you do eat foods with a high GI, like a banana, do you wait a while after taking your insulin to give it a headstart?

Avatar f tn Hi Mia, It sounds like what you're experiencing may be "yeast die off". A lot of people have a systemic yeast problem, and don't even know it. They feed off the simple sugars that all carbs break down into. I know it's extremely uncomfortable. Honestly, the only thing to do is simply stick with it for a few days. For me, after about three days the craving goes from near mania down to simple desire- but one you can control.

7712902 tn?1393734882 s healthy carbs because it has fiber and great vitamins but you must take in to consideration they are still Carbohydrates and your body treats all simple carbs the same. 1 apple yields about 20-30 carbs, a banana is about 30+, and most fruits are similar. The only true difference between a piece of fruit and table sugar is fiber and vitamins as far as your body is concerned.

Avatar f tn Pasta is the traditional night before meal. Plenty of carbs, low on the protein. Breakfast should be light, maybe scrambled eggs, toast, banana and probably no later than 5:30 AM. Not sure about whole wheat anything unless your kids are used to it already.
Avatar n tn I gave a comment here and the post shows I commented but I don't see it. Maybe it will show up some day but the website seems to be having a host of problems. Basically, carbs aren't all created equal, and calories are not your best source of tracking weight. Calories are one factor, but how well and how quickly you metabolize your food into sugar for energy is more determinative, as foods that turn quickly into sugar have to be burned off quickly or they store quickly as fat.

A well balance meal, with simple sugar (such as fruit), carbohydrates, protein, and fat? First the body burns the sugar for energy, then the carbs get used, then protein, and lastly fat is used. For dinner he eats a large portion of meat, some kind of starch (rice or potatoes) and ususally 2 different vegetables broccoli or green beans. At 8 o'clock he is starving again. He gets a lite snack sugar free jello or pudding and goes to bed and then he wakes up starving sometimes during the night or in the morning he acts like he never ate before.
