Boy Is steak ok to eat for diabetics?
Avatar n tn From what I read, the original HCG treatment consisted of daily shots of that hormone plus an extreme diet of 500 calories, and there was no medical evidence that it worked. It got popular (as fad diets do) and now they sell homeopathic (oral) versions of the hcg that have unknown ingredients and doses. Fad diets don't work and are dangerous for diabetics. I know it is hard to lose weight at your mother's age.
Avatar n tn Hi i just recently read some very recent articles from doctors saying that the atkins diet could be a very good way of eating for diabetics because of the low carb approach that insulin is hardly affected. To me it makes sense cause i wouldn't mind my great aunt who is a diabetic to try the atkins or another low carb diet to help here with her blood sugar problems.
Avatar n tn If the drink has stevia why does it also have sugar? the 12gr of sugar is included in the 13gr of carbs so its not carbs "and" sugar its carbs "including" sugar. 12gr of sugar would raise my BG 50 points. I dont know what it would do to your BG.
Avatar m tn The easier a food is digested the quicker its sugars enter your bloodstream. Type 2 diabetics must pay careful attention to the amount of carbs eaten. Consider carbs as an equal to table sugar. On nutrition labels carb sugars are listed in grams. Every 7 grams equals one heaping Tablespoon of refined sugar. Changing lifestyle habits can go a long way in controlling type 2 diabetes.
Avatar f tn Have you herd of LCHF diet many MANY diabetics are on that diet. The reason diabetics get hungry is the more carbohydrates eaten the higher the BG goes, the higher the BG the hungrier you get. eating low carb reduces BG and thus reduces hunger. You need caleries to run your body if you dont eat carbs (whitch your body turns into BG) you need another energy source, fat. LCHF low carb high fat. NO injections needed carbs = BG rise eat less carbs have less BG rise.
Avatar n tn I would like to know the best diet for diabetes 2, which I take 1 pill for in the am. I have just recently had my lap band taken out. Thanks for your help.
3060903 tn?1398565123 Do not deprive your body of complex carbs. Carbs are your fuel for energy. Too little carbs can cause renal impairment. Remember, your meter is your friend.
Avatar n tn Along with avoiding sugary foods a low to no carb diet plan is recommended for t2 diabetics. Carbs to t2 diabetics are the same as sugar - elevates our glucose [blood sugar] above and beyond acceptable levels. A very good place to look for low carb recipes is the Atkins [diet] web site http://tinyurl.com/atkins-recipes . Replace sugar with artificial sweeteners such as Splenda or Stevia.
Avatar n tn So some diabetics eat few carbs while others eat lots of carbs. The old diet charts that we used to base our insulin dosages on are not used when we do this. The point of this explanation is that there is no reason from the diabetes perspective why he cannot eat as few or as many carbs as he wishes. But this is ONLY true if he is adjusting his insulin dose properly for those dietary variations.
Avatar n tn Dear winkster, Actually a diabetic diet is really only what a healthy diet would be for people without diabetes. And fruits are a part of that even though they have sugar it get metabolized like any other carbohydrates.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am looking for a good diet for pre diabetics that also is okay on my liver. High levels of AST, ALT, and Albumin. I eat healthy and workout six days a week. In fact lost 12 pounds since January and now weigh 141. do not drink more than once a year, so any suggestions on a good diet to prevent type 2?
Avatar f tn For non-diabetics, normal is below 100. Prediabetics is 100 to 126 and diabetics is 126 and above. Sometimes lack of sleep and stress can cause a temporary rise in the fasting level.
1666434 tn?1325262350 , the GI will explain the differences between simple and complex carbs. Besides sugar, simple carbs are a diabetics worst enemy as they quickly raise glucose [blood sugar] levels. Fruits must be eaten with other foods to slow the absorption of fructose [fruit sugar]. Caution with tropical fruits as they contain large amounts of fructose - pineapple, mangoes, papayas. Berries are healthier.
Tbd even the US CDC says cholesterol in the diet is not a concern. Also when carbs are removed from the diet then some other form of energy is needed... fat. I eat under 50 gr of carbs a day and have been since 2000.
Avatar f tn What is important in diet is to cut as much as possible the amount of carbs she eats. Carbs include such things as sweets of course, but also bread, rice, cereal, pasta and potatoes. Every diabetic is different. Some diabetics find whole grains are better for their blood sugar than white. For some of us it makes no difference. The only way to know is to test.
Avatar m tn Is caliory restrictions good for diabetics? And is fasting going to drop the blood glucose levels too low that diabetics can't sustain concentration and strength thought out the mornings? Intermittent fasting tends to last 12 to 16 hours usually done from 7pm 11am.
370181 tn?1595629445 In fact, doctors recommend that carbs account for 40%-60% of your daily caloric intake, but not all carbs are the same. There are good carbs [complex] and there are bad carbs [simple]. The carbohydrates that we consume are generally one of of two types. The complex ones found in fruits, vegetables, whole grains and starches. These are the good guys. The simple ones found in table sugar and processed foods are the bad guys.
Avatar f tn I found out I have it about 12 weeks ago. I basically just have to watch how many carbs I eat in a day. And obviously eat healthy carbs. The main concern for women with gestational diabetes is if your sugars aren't getting processed correctly then you can end up with a big baby and they would have trouble with natural delivery.
Avatar m tn s have learned that carb reduction combined with exercise can keep blood sugar in range for a long time without the need for medication. I recommend testing, more frequently at first to see how different foods affect your blood sugar (we are all different and there is no one standard diet, though all carbs raise everyone's blood sugar to some degree). Your goal should be to remain under 140 two hours postprandially. You want your fasting sugars under 120 and preferably under 100.
1436324 tn?1283698760 This way you avoid raising your blood sugar and minimizing insulin release and get rid of insulin resistance. The diet is not easy to stick with for many people, though some people are fine with it. Do not start this diet (if you'd like to give it a try) without letting your doctor know, especially if you've started taking medications or insulin for your diabetes. I REPEAT - do not go on this diet until you check with your doctor.
231441 tn?1333892766 I know many diabetics, Sally, both types, who use a very low carb diet (following Dr. Bernstein's regimen which is, I believe 30 grams a day) with great success. Some people use that diet to stave off using medication for as long as possible; some for longterm management of numbers with less need for meds and insulin. I myself only eat a " moderate low" diet of about 100 carbs per day.
