I have upped my exercise and I'm on a 1200 cal diet, watching carbs, eating more veggies and increased water intake. I don't want to lose fast or unhealthy. Not looking for a number on the scale just want clothes to fit better at least.
Avatar f tn And this dose not mean you should avoid carbs because your body needs them aswell , when i did the lighter life diet i lost 4 stone but i felt like **** because it was low calorie and low carbs. PLEASE DOT TRY THAT DIET EITHER. i promise you i felt rubish. I now lose wieght on 1. morning for qwick breakfast speacial k or oats with honey 2. lunch jacket potato with out butter and those lovley beans we are talking about i put cayenne pepper with mind to spice it up abit 3.
Avatar n tn Hey there! I don't think you need to limit yourself to a certain amount of carbs per day. I would recommend trying a high protein and high fiber diet. Also try meal planning. Having a plan will ensure that you aren't going overboard on carbs, and knowing how many carbs you'll have for each meal will help you plan your bolus more correctly.
Avatar n tn m having difficulty with the carbs. It says I should be consuming about 130 carbs but it seems to me so many foods contain carbs. An apple and banana are both things I thought was good but they contain carbs that add to my 130. Carrots is another snack I wanted to eat and also has about 10 g.
Avatar f tn I bring a Dr pepper ot diet coke to work with me, as i have a hard time staying awake too, especially when my client is snoring..lol. i try to eat a snack every 1.5 to 2 hours to keep my energy up and if i feel myself falling asleep i sip on the soda.
Avatar f tn Just don't drink to much. 1-2 cans a day but make sure you drink a lot of water. I have a diet dr pepper thing I can't kick and I wasn't drinking but 4 cups of water and my fluids aren't where they should be. So just drink a lot of water even if it dosnt taste good.

Blood pressure...well for one, dark chocolate is great at lowering blood pressure. Not only does it taste great, but it's great for your body! Eat about 3 ounces a day of 70% cocoa dark chocolate. Also, red grapes as well and vitamin C (like oranges). Also, while on the low carb diet watch the salt intake.

Avatar f tn It could be a yeast overgrowth problem- candida in your intestines. I used to have problems with carbs and sugar. I have chest pain and get easily irritable after eating carbs. My sinus will get worse after I cosume sugar. I started with detoxifying my body about a year ago. I replaced my sugar for cooking with birch sugar and cut down my carbs to less than 30 g per day.

I visited Weight Watchers and inquired about their plan for diabetics and was told there is an extra cost because their instructors have to take additional training. I even went to a bookstore to purchase the WW book which was the size of a phone book!

Boy Diabetes means your Body can not control the rise of BG. What causes BG to rise... Carbohydrates Carbs raise BG ALL carbs Whole wheat, brown rice, most fruits, potato... all carbs raise BG Steak has very few carbs so it wont effect your BG much, however the mashed potatoes will send BG through the roof. Google "low carb hi fat diet" (LCHF) LOTS of diabetics can control there BG by eating LCHF diet without meds.
Avatar n tn Carbs raise BG so restricting carbs will help BG. when you say 6 units I assume you mean 6 exchanges which is 90 gr of carbs. If you take 250 mg at each meal that is 750 mg a day, the limit is 2400mg a day so you have room to go up on the Met. It can take 6 to 8 weeks for met to become fully effective.

Before pregnancy I'd eat incredibly healthy lots of fish, veg, fruit but none of these things are appealing to me much. Every now and then but carbs are on the top of my thing's that taste better. 862147 tn?1239029763 I don't know why her dr said no pepper. The foods to avoid are popcorn, seeds etc and foods that don't digest easily. Sounds like her diverticulitus is not inflamed and she is doing well at this time. Was it a gastro dr. that told her not to eat pepper? Did she have other stomach problems at that time? She should be able to eat anything in moderation at this time. Just watch for signs of a flare-up and call the gi dr if it occurs.
Avatar n tn her dr wants her to try diet first...her sugars this past week, fasting, run about 180-240...she has stopped all sugars, is eating better, 3 meals a day, wheat breads, salad/vegs/fruit uses sugar free sodas and occass has had sugar free cookies....todays fbs was 288..I'm not sure what caused it...nothing i could see in her diet....i'm looking to find out where i can obtain a listing of foods to avoid and foods to eat....all i find is diet plans, how many grams of what is in it etc...

Many vegetarians around the world have a nice soft middle because they eat so much white flour and potatoes and the like. You need to make sure you get your protein. And then you need to exercise.

Only to realize a couple sips later I could barely breathe. No one else in my family has had this happen before and I'm kinda relieved to know I'm not alone.

Huge change from the "conventional" approach which had people with diabetes eating a diet containing up to 65% carbs focusing on carbs from "healthy whole grains", vegetables and fruits. Never mind that all of these carbs break down to simple sugars as part of the digestion process... There is increasing support for very low carb diets to manage blood sugars.
Avatar n tn Limit your carbs if it's medically possible - when you do eat carbs, do it in veggies, fruits, and brown rice. Look up recipes from nutritionists and make those. Start taking walks as often as u can.
Avatar f tn Unfortunately there is no perfect diet and there no perfect diet for diabetes. But avoiding simple carbs is good for everyone. A BG meter is a good tool to use. Check out everything. Even beans. Yes some people have a very large and long lasting spike on beans, even though books suggest it as a good choice. Supplements can help some people. If you want to go in that direction consider things like chromium, they help some people control BG.

I really hope I don't fail. I wasn't prepared at all. I had an eggo waffle with a little bit of syrup, a piece of buttered toast, and about six ounces of Dr Pepper.
