carb

Avatar n tn m having difficulty with the carbs. It says I should be consuming about 130 carbs but it seems to me so many foods contain carbs. An apple and banana are both things I thought was good but they contain carbs that add to my 130. Carrots is another snack I wanted to eat and also has about 10 g.
1451080 tn?1438527660 s different. How many carbs are you allowed? That makes a difference. Some low carb diets are less then 30 carbs a day, and some are 30-50 carbs a day. Blood pressure...well for one, dark chocolate is great at lowering blood pressure. Not only does it taste great, but it's great for your body! Eat about 3 ounces a day of 70% cocoa dark chocolate. Also, red grapes as well and vitamin C (like oranges). Also, while on the low carb diet watch the salt intake.
Avatar n tn Hey there! I don't think you need to limit yourself to a certain amount of carbs per day. I would recommend trying a high protein and high fiber diet. Also try meal planning. Having a plan will ensure that you aren't going overboard on carbs, and knowing how many carbs you'll have for each meal will help you plan your bolus more correctly.
Avatar f tn I have been diabetic for 15 years. I have never been on a diabetic diet. I would like to know what I can eat, like how many carbs, fat, fruit, etc. Please help.
Boy Diabetes means your Body can not control the rise of BG. What causes BG to rise... Carbohydrates Carbs raise BG ALL carbs Whole wheat, brown rice, most fruits, potato... all carbs raise BG Steak has very few carbs so it wont effect your BG much, however the mashed potatoes will send BG through the roof. Google "low carb hi fat diet" (LCHF) LOTS of diabetics can control there BG by eating LCHF diet without meds.
Avatar n tn Carbs raise BG so restricting carbs will help BG. when you say 6 units I assume you mean 6 exchanges which is 90 gr of carbs. If you take 250 mg at each meal that is 750 mg a day, the limit is 2400mg a day so you have room to go up on the Met. It can take 6 to 8 weeks for met to become fully effective.
Avatar n tn 3 only when I was first diagnosed.
Avatar m tn My diabetic nutritionist advised me not to have more than 60g carbs. a day. Perhaps you should talk to one. You need to adjust your diet. My average a1c was always around 7.1 with taking metformin, glucophage, and insulin. So I went on a diet and lost 52lbs. Now my a1c is 6.4. Talk to nutritionist and be truthful.
Avatar f tn ve read a 25% protein, 50% non starchy carbs, 25% starchy carbs +good fats, is a good balance for a hypoglycemic diet. What do you think? Any links our recommendations are appreciated. Thank You.
Avatar f tn Im coming up to 14weeks with my 3rd baby and I'm struggling to eat healthy. Before pregnancy I'd eat incredibly healthy lots of fish, veg, fruit but none of these things are appealing to me much. Every now and then but carbs are on the top of my thing's that taste better. Ive always got a strange taste in my mouth and at times puts me of eating completely which isnt like me. I was just wondering if any of you girls are experiencing the same thing.....
Avatar n tn Recently quit smoking (7 months ago) gained 15lbs. I'm 5 foot even and 156lbs. Any advice I. How to lose. I have upped my exercise and I'm on a 1200 cal diet, watching carbs, eating more veggies and increased water intake. I don't want to lose fast or unhealthy. Not looking for a number on the scale just want clothes to fit better at least.
Avatar n tn Limit your carbs if it's medically possible - when you do eat carbs, do it in veggies, fruits, and brown rice. Look up recipes from nutritionists and make those. Start taking walks as often as u can.
Avatar f tn Unfortunately there is no perfect diet and there no perfect diet for diabetes. But avoiding simple carbs is good for everyone. A BG meter is a good tool to use. Check out everything. Even beans. Yes some people have a very large and long lasting spike on beans, even though books suggest it as a good choice. Supplements can help some people. If you want to go in that direction consider things like chromium, they help some people control BG.
Avatar f tn , which diets eliminate all carbs. Even Dr. Atkins strongly advised against staying on his diet plan long-term for the same reason: no carbs. I visited Weight Watchers and inquired about their plan for diabetics and was told there is an extra cost because their instructors have to take additional training. I even went to a bookstore to purchase the WW book which was the size of a phone book!
1464587 tn?1307491605 but I honestly keep reading almost everywhere that the key is to stay atkins/veggie diet..... that it is most important to stay away from sugar and carbs (anything from any kind of flour) and stay with the veggies, egg whites, and meat.
Avatar m tn i need to manage my sugar better. i tried exercise, cutting out most carbs in my diet. but i get attacked by pasta and pizza from time to time. i really have cut back a lot on my diet but need other tips so that my a-1c gets better. any ideas?
Avatar f tn I guess it is a diet that doesn't suit you. Any extreme diet can make people feel nauseous or get the runs or get blocked up, just use common sense if your body is telling you it isn't doing it for you. Low carbs is a good thing, but no carbs can give a person really bad constipation, so at the least, take a fiber gummy every day if you're sure you want to do this diet.
Avatar n tn I'm looking for a weight gain diet that focuses on a active lifestyle since I'm going to be working out a lot.
3140169 tn?1342848421 2 vets have told me that the main part of their (I have 6 cats) diet should be wet food and to limit the amount of dry food! Mainly because of the high carbs in the dry food and that it will cause weight problems! My cats do have weight issues! So, what I do is feed them 1, 3oz can of wet food a day, usually around dinnertime for me! Then I give them about 1/4 to 1/2 cup of dry, usually around breakfast and that's it!
1082697 tn?1260064616 To speed fat loss try to limit your intake of carbs to less than 80 Grams per day. Fill the gap with lean meat and fats. That means eliminate anything and everything including sugar because it also contains carbs. Also completly eliminate all fruit and fruit juices from your diet. They contain natural sugars that are instantly converted into body fat. No potatoes either. Count every carb gram and stay below 80 Grams per day and even then they must be complex carbs not junk carbs.
Avatar m tn It works for me. Yes, you have to watch the amount of carbs you eat but it does matter what kind of carbs they are and where they fall on the GI. As for rice, white or brown, it has the same effect on my blood sugar (a bad one!) and so I have cut it out of my diet. Pumpernickel works for me and does not spike my glucose levels. The best pasta to eat is a brand called "Dreamfields"; it is specially processed to reduce the amount of digestible carbs.
Avatar f tn Healthy diet is high in unprocessed and minimally processed foods. This means you will eat lean meats in moderation, plenty of green and brightly colored veges, moderate whole grain cereals, some fruits - but stay away or limit portions of very sweet fruits, nuts, some dairy, healthy fats / oils. Bad carbs could be considered those white carbs that break down quickly. This includes bread, white rice, cookies, candies etc.
