Avatar f tn Thanks for using the forum. Diet is very important for managing your diabetes. I am sure you know that it is very important to limit your carbs because they are what raise your blood sugar. If possible, you could consult with a dietician. They can consider what you are eating now and help you to understand what changes need to be made, while incorporating the foods you currently enjoy.
Avatar n tn Limit your carbs if it's medically possible - when you do eat carbs, do it in veggies, fruits, and brown rice. Look up recipes from nutritionists and make those. Start taking walks as often as u can.
Avatar n tn t want to avoid carbs, you want to cut down on simple carbs. So because fleshy fruit contains a lot of sugars, you eat those with moderation, but fruits that don't contain that sugar, such as quinoa or buckwheat or squash or tree nuts or seeds you can eat more often.
Avatar f tn Im coming up to 14weeks with my 3rd baby and I'm struggling to eat healthy. Before pregnancy I'd eat incredibly healthy lots of fish, veg, fruit but none of these things are appealing to me much. Every now and then but carbs are on the top of my thing's that taste better. Ive always got a strange taste in my mouth and at times puts me of eating completely which isnt like me. I was just wondering if any of you girls are experiencing the same thing.....
Avatar f tn no more carbs. Eat lots of veggies, one portion of fruit only, one handful of raw nuts, low fat dairy, high fat fish, lean meat. The increase in protein will keep you from getting hungry and on the long term completely abolish any cravings. Also, no deep frying, no butter, but olive oil and canola instead. No more rice, pasta, potatoes, flour.... My Dad eats that way for 5 yearsby now, is very healthy and lost 30 kgs during the first year. Good luck!
Avatar n tn my mom 78yo was dx with diabetes last wk (bld sugar 257)only symptom was tired and dry mouth..she prob had it for a while.she would eat candy and her diet was sporadic, apetitie down,,,.her dr wants her to try diet first...her sugars this past week, fasting, run about 180-240...she has stopped all sugars, is eating better, 3 meals a day, wheat breads, salad/vegs/fruit uses sugar free sodas and occass has had sugar free cookies....todays fbs was 288..I'm not sure what caused it...
Avatar n tn 3 only when I was first diagnosed.
Avatar m tn Limit fruit to 3 servings/day because it tend to have a lot of sugar and if not used right away, turns to fat. Try to center your meals around vegetables, because they have a lot of nutrients and fiber for very few calories. Also stick to low/no fat dairy, lean meats, good fats (such as avocado, olive oil, etc). Nuts and seeds are a good addition, because of the nutrients, but limit them because of the fat, even though it's "good" fat.
3060903 tn?1398565123 I'm trying to reverse my diabetes II with diet and my blood glucose levels are good., but only because i am limiting all sugar. The diet site that i'm using suggests 24 g of sugar a day. One banana a day is 14 grams of sugar therefore if I eat two bananas a day i'm over the suggested allotment. I'm wondering how am i suppose to get 2 or 3 pieces of fruit in my diet with these restrictions.
Avatar f tn How do you eat less carbs for breakfast? I can't seem to get away from bad carbs at breakfast.
Avatar f tn My doctor wants me to stay away from carbs all together right now. I have read different things regarding fruit and I am unsure which ones are safe; people say different things. I would love any kind of feedback that anyone has on some food options!
Evillady So reducing the carbs you eat will help in BG control. So I eat salad and steak, veggies, no fruit (fruit has a lot of carbs) eggs, bacon, cheese, chicken, fish, garlic, and lots of herbs and spices and hot spices. There are other diabetic news groups with recipe sections.
Avatar f tn /which makes it hard. A healthy pregnancy diet consists of protein, healthy carbs, whole grains, fruits and veggies. The closer your meals are together the less hungry you will feel and the less junk you will crave. You should eat 6 small meals a day .
Avatar f tn Eat plenty of carbs before workout but don't go overboard. Don't eat carbs after 7pm or so. Eat about 1g of protein for every pound of body weight per day. Fish and lean meat have lots if protein. Protein shakes will help with bulk. Don't use creatine too much, it isn't too good for your heart :/ Of course eat minimal junk food and plenty of fruit and vegtables. There are also supliments called animal cuts you should check out. They're quite good.
Panda We do know that ALL carbohydrates raise Blood Glucose (BG) let me repeat that ALL carbs raise BG rice, pasta, potato, wheat (bread), sugar, honey, most fruit ALL contain significant amounts of carbs and will raise BG. Get a BG (Blood Glucose) meter. Test before you eat, test 1 hour after you eat. if your BG is too high you eat too many carbs. Too high is over 140 (US measure) 7.8 every ware else.
Avatar m tn carbohydrates raise BG... ALL carbs raise BG. fruit contain carbs... fruit will raise BG. Fruit juice is concentrated fruit, fruit juice is has even more sugar than fruit. fruit juice will raise BG faster than fruit. In fact fruit juice is used to treat people with low BG because it is very effective at RAISING BG For people with T1, the ONLY treatment that works is insulin. If you are getting good numbers with using pills then you cant be T1. a BG of 113 is good numbers.
1082697 tn?1260064616 he looks so good. i know a diet high in fiber has lots of carbs. the only sugar i eat is in fruit. i do love salads and greens. thank so much for the info. i have several cook books here on low carb meals. guess i better get them out. you have been so helpful. i thank you again.
Avatar f tn How should we be following a diet? Because I've had multiple pregnancies with multiple drs and NOT ONE has ever said no fruit for breakfast. In fact they encourage it. So I'm curious to know what diet you're on our if your Dr is a quack? I really am genuinely curious because I want to know if I should be discussing this at my next appointment.
594189 tn?1386916607 Are you doing southbeach? That one was crazy hard, but I lost 10 pounds in 9 days!!
Avatar f tn Right now, even though you are only eating fruits and rice and chapati, your diet is mainly sugars and carbs. I know how important rice is for an Asian diet. But honestly... to control weight gain you have to reduce it to very little or none at all. It's only 9 months. Try to reduce your rice/chapati to once a weeks at the most. In order to control my own weight, I ate cooked vegetables, lean meats, and fish. How your food is prepared is very important too.
451075 tn?1210258648 Yes, it's totally safe. I have used low-carb diet for long time. I eat alot of protein (all meat and fish (as long as it is fresh and un-contamintated), cheeses and eggs). It's known now that eggs do not have this bad influence on cholesterol as thought before. It's also known that fat doesn't make you fat. So, I never look at calories, I only look at carbohydrates. Besides the protein I eat alot of vegetable (except high carb veggies like carrots, borccoly etc).
Avatar n tn In diabetes, carbs are no longer able to processed properly, so eating a diet lower in carbs will help with control. Lower carb foods will include meat, non-sweetened dairy (cheese, yoghurt, butter, cream), eggs, nuts, and non-starchy vegetables. Unfortuantely fruits and grains are very high in carbs, and may need to be limited by many. Hope this helps you. Please ask more questions if you need.
Avatar f tn I have read online that cutting out carbs is important for diabetes prevention, but carbs are a large part of my diet and I am pretty skinny already, so whenever I try to cut out carbs or cut down on carbs, I end up getting sick. Maybe it is coincidence, but I feel like it significantly impacts my immune system when I don't eat carbs. What should I do?
