Avatar f tn The lemonade diet I was thinking about because i been reading about it lately and so many people was using it, so i was thinking it might work for me. I read some where in the paper or online line you can lose 20lbs in 2 weeks. but like you said it just might be a gimmic.

Avatar n tn Hey there! I don't think you need to limit yourself to a certain amount of carbs per day. I would recommend trying a high protein and high fiber diet. Also try meal planning. Having a plan will ensure that you aren't going overboard on carbs, and knowing how many carbs you'll have for each meal will help you plan your bolus more correctly.
Avatar n tn m having difficulty with the carbs. It says I should be consuming about 130 carbs but it seems to me so many foods contain carbs. An apple and banana are both things I thought was good but they contain carbs that add to my 130. Carrots is another snack I wanted to eat and also has about 10 g.

The only way to tell is to get a BG meter and test... test before you eat count the carbs you eat and test 1 hour, 2 hours after you eat. your BG should not go over 140. We do know carbohydrates raise BG ALL carbs... rice,pasta,wheat,potato, and most fruit contain large amounts of carbs. so test to see what you can eat.

Avatar n tn I personally eat a Ketogenic diet of 20g or less net carbs a day. Most of my diet comes from meat, cheese and non-starchy vegetables. The high levels of fat in my diet help keep me satiated and promotes weight loss. I also tend to avoid artificial sweeteners as much as possible. I eat gluten free and grain free.

Ive recently had to drastically change my diet. I'm now eating a carnivore/keto like diet. The overgrowth of bacteria eats starch so I literally cannot eat any starch (no carbs, fruit and even certain vegetables).
Avatar n tn Carbs raise BG so restricting carbs will help BG. when you say 6 units I assume you mean 6 exchanges which is 90 gr of carbs. If you take 250 mg at each meal that is 750 mg a day, the limit is 2400mg a day so you have room to go up on the Met. It can take 6 to 8 weeks for met to become fully effective.
Avatar f tn Congratulations on your weight loss. That's quite an accomplishment, especially, if you're keeping it off. We all know that it's best to avoid refined (simple) carbs, but those are a big downfall for many of us. Diets like that Atkins Diet don't provide enough carbs and is one that most people can't stick with. I see you did it for 6 months - I don't think I could stay with it that long.
Avatar n tn m looking to find out where i can obtain a listing of foods to avoid and foods to eat....all i find is diet plans, how many grams of what is in it etc... all i really want is for her to have a list of the foods she can have without fearing her sugar will go up, snacks she can have or not have etc...at her age its hard for her to figure out calories, grams, exchange groups and all that...
Boy Whenever I have regular bread/potatoes/rice or pasta it raises my BG depending on how much I eat. I do monitor my carbs and since doing so have lowed my A1c from 7.3 to 6.2 without medications.

1968463 tn?1374757813 Actually, I have tried a LOT of different fasts over the years, and the most comfortable and most effective I've ever done is the "lemonade fast", or "lemonade diet." You can google it and get the recipe...It's amazing, and weight comes off really fast. I have a low blood sugar problem, but did not have problems on this fast.
