carb

Avatar n tn The chicken is fine as it is protein, but the corn and the plaintains are quite high in carbs for a portion. Its a starchy vegetable. Check the glycemic index or a carb counter book. You can find this info online. I love corn also, just dont have it to often anymore.
Avatar m tn (net carbs is total carbs minus fiber carbs.) A snack is sometimes suggested to be 15 net carbs. (Yum, chunk of cheese and handful of pecans!) Offhand I dont know the net carb of an apple but you can look that up and think about it. When the sugar levels in your blood are too high, the blood becomes abrasive to your body. If you eat all of your carbs all at once, your blood sugar will go higher than if you ration it out over the course of a day.
Avatar f tn Reduce the carbs you eat. I took out bread as this started to cause me trouble and replaced with homemade alternatives. One of which was banana pancakes made with ground down almond instead of flour. Delicious!
Avatar f tn So bottom line... It CAN be serious but if you make the proper diet changes (i.e. no cokes, less carbs, no high fructose corn syrup, watch your fruit/juice intake) there should be no reason to worry. Drink more water & excercise too. :) So, now that I've given you all this fabulous info let's see how my blood sugar is in 9 days! I tested my fasting sugar the other day at my grandma's and I was at the low end of normal but I'm not exactly surehow the test works.
Avatar n tn t make it to school well - that is a home fruit I had heard nuts like almonds and walnuts were high in good carbs, so we have been adding those. I had also heard that chocolate milk was good, she doesn't like chocolate so I added strawberry. We will fill an empty water bottle with it to take to school.
3060903 tn?1398565123 Do not deprive your body of complex carbs. Carbs are your fuel for energy. Too little carbs can cause renal impairment. Remember, your meter is your friend.
968908 tn?1274871115 9 (180) is not a normal reading, though generally we check our blood sugar two hours after eating not one hour. A banana and a glass of orange juice is very high carb and since you have imparied glucose tolerance I would suggest limiting your carbs more to try and maintain your levels as long as possible. You might want to check your fasting numbers as well to see if you have progressed to pre-diabetic readings or diabetic readings.
Avatar n tn It says I should be consuming about 130 carbs but it seems to me so many foods contain carbs. An apple and banana are both things I thought was good but they contain carbs that add to my 130. Carrots is another snack I wanted to eat and also has about 10 g.
Avatar n tn Poster Satu234 consumed close to 21 grams of sugar, not 6. And, 37 grams of carbs is not high and not all carbs ride around on RB cells as excess glucose. The liver and muscle cells take carb sugar and converts it into glycogen. Glycogen is released for energy when needed. Furthermore, a danger of too low carb diet can cause the body to go into a dangerous metabolic state called ketosis since your body burns fat instead of glucose for energy.
Avatar f tn fasting BG of 225 is very high so is 301 after 17 gr of carbs. I think (im not an MD) your BG is out of control.
12693075 tn?1442246392 Yep. Got so much better when I started taking more iron. Occasionally get it from eating too many carbs at breakfast so I need to make sure I have enough protein (I find a yoghurt, avocado, greens, almond, milk and banana smoothie keeps me steady). So mine was from the whole combo of low iron, low blood pressure and low blood sugar in morning.
2028721 tn?1356682003 It contains good amount of carbohydrates and an 8 ounce serving usually offers more carbs compared to a large banana or small box of raisins. It definitely is more lighter and healthier compared to a high calorie dessert like ice cream. Do write to us again. Best wishes!
Avatar n tn An hour later my number is 198 and am worried that it is too high. Is it too high and if so what should I do...take a walk around the block to lower this. I usually eat one egg, 12 a banana and 1/2 piece of toast in the morning but the croissant looked so good.
Avatar f tn Are you scared of carbs because of weight gain or you have like a phobia? If its due to the possibility of gaining weight, chill out babe. I went for a few years totally avoiding carbs and I lost weight! I ended up going through a bit of depression and started not caring about weight gain. Gained about 10 kilo's Now I'm on a diet and having some carbs. I feel much fuller and healthier for introducing it to my diet. I'm still losing weight. Slowly though because I am type 1 diabetic.
Avatar n tn I was wondering how you managed your diabetes and how strict you are with your diet, like do you only eat set meals throughout the day and stay away from foods with a high glycemic index? If you do eat foods with a high GI, like a banana, do you wait a while after taking your insulin to give it a headstart?
Avatar n tn I would recommend trying a high protein and high fiber diet. Also try meal planning. Having a plan will ensure that you aren't going overboard on carbs, and knowing how many carbs you'll have for each meal will help you plan your bolus more correctly.
Avatar n tn There is NO ideal carb count. Each of us is different. How many carbs you can handle without having your BG go too high (140 in the USA) is different than it is for me (I eat under 50gr a day). Google "eat to your meter" that will tell you haw many carbs YOU can eat.
Avatar f tn Hain weight healthy! So First of all you should prefer carbs. Just like brown rice. Whole grain bread etc. and there are a lot of healthy fats. High in calories. Like avocado, peanut butter and olive oil. Also try to eat the high fat versions. Just like that: Breakfast: -2 cups of oatmeal, one cup of whole fat milk, Greek yoghurt with 10% fat and one large table spoon peanut butter. That add one banana.
Avatar n tn Carbs raise BG so restricting carbs will help BG. when you say 6 units I assume you mean 6 exchanges which is 90 gr of carbs. If you take 250 mg at each meal that is 750 mg a day, the limit is 2400mg a day so you have room to go up on the Met. It can take 6 to 8 weeks for met to become fully effective.
Avatar f tn I had (1) raisen bagel with jelly, milk and (1) banana and calculated the calories and its seems really high 458 calories is that right? Anyone have some input?
Avatar n tn As far as your blood sugar is concerned, carbs are carbs, whether they come from corn or candy, bread or ice cream, pasta or potato chips. Type-1 diabetics "count" the amount of carbs in a meal or snack and give themselves the appropriate amount of insulin so their bodies can process those carbs. If my daughter wants a snack and doesn't want to give herself a shot, she has some protein or veggies-- a piece of chicken, or some carrots, because their carb count is so low.
5609181 tn?1375332372 I looove carbs, too! Luckily I don't have GD & my diet isn't too high in them anyways, I do have noodles frequently, but I buy whole grain kamut noodles (they have 10 grams of protein per serving, too!!) they are lower in carbs.. that's what I meant by low-carb alternatives. Also, there are some fruits that are lower in sugars - raspberries, blueberries, lemon/lime (don't know very many people who enjoy these raw though! Haha)..
