Avatar n tn For dinner I will have about 35 carbs rice and vegi and chicken. I will walk 30 mins after that. Am I taking too little carbs. What problems will it cause by having too little carbs? If I keep doing this forever will I have diabetes complications? I think I consider myself pre-diabetes at this point and yet I need to be confirmed by the doctor. Thanks a lot.
18714950 tn?1467217560 The carbs which should be restricted are sugars, sweetened foods, foods made from grains (bread, pasta, noodles, rice, corn), sweet fruits, starchy carbs such potato. Vegetables are healthy and should be eaten abundantly, aside from the starchy ones. Salad vegetables also ok. Protein has minimal effect on blood sugar, and good quality proteins should be eaten. Fats don't impact blood sugar. Healthy fats should be eaten to make up energy requirements.

Feed small meals through out the day , this is better than feeding one big meal .Offer lots of complex carbs to your child,toast made with whole grain bread , breads, pasta's aswell as veg and fruits .Supplement the diet with high calorie smoothies using a variety of fruits and crushed ice ,milk and flax seed oil, flax supplies a healthy form of fat.
Avatar f tn For me, I cannot eat potatoes or carrots at all. Obviously any white bread. Probiotic bread works the best. For breakfast I usually have a whole wheat English muffin or tortilla with peanut butter, and half a banana if in the tortilla. Snack I usually have milk with protein powder. Lunch salad with toast or crackers. Dinner stir fry or pasta. Just find what works for you, and watch the amounts of carbohydrates. Once you get used to it it's really not that bad.

Limit milk products Maintain a high green veggie diet with lean "good" protein meats - hormone free! Nuts are good and yogart - I know it has milk - but it has many other supporting factors. It a tough change but you will adjust well and won't crave the other stuff after a while.

Blood pressure...well for one, dark chocolate is great at lowering blood pressure. Not only does it taste great, but it's great for your body! Eat about 3 ounces a day of 70% cocoa dark chocolate. Also, red grapes as well and vitamin C (like oranges). Also, while on the low carb diet watch the salt intake.

Stay away from starchy and sugary stuff like pasta, bread, rice, flour, etc. limit fruits to rare treat. Eat full fat dairy, and try to stay away from processed foods, especially the low fat or no fat variety, which are full of sugar, carbs and nasty chemicals. Eat whole real foods.

Barb is right about the complex carbs and high protein food helping you stay fuller longer. Don't eat anything real soft in the morning (apple instead of banana) the crunching and chewing is supposed to help you get full, plus it takes longer to eat. Pancakes, white toast and jelly and those kinds of things make you hungry. You have to eat breakfast.
Avatar f tn t believe the squash skin is harmful and I will continue to prepare and eat the suckers. Where would we be without zucchini bread or all the other wonderful dishes you can prepare with the goofy green squash. I do think that letting them get too big may make the squash skin more apt to do this to the human skin. I got these particular ones from my brother's organic garden. Mine have never caused this. He lets his get up to 3 pounds each!!!!

Avatar n tn If you are overweight I would recommend that you cut out all junk food, soft drinks and fruit juices. Limit carbs such as bread, potato, rice, pasta, cookies to small portions only. Do not eat too much fruit. Probably a reasonable amount of fruit would be 2 - 3 pieeces a day. Eat regular fat foods: cheese, yoghurt, etc. But make sure they are not sweetened. Read labels on foods and avoid any food that contains high fructose corn syrup.
