Substituting low carb veggies, low carb fruits, avocadoes. In 2 weeks I've reduced night time Lantus from 25U to 10 U and BS in AM 90- low 100's. Yesterday enjoyed burger with L&T,onion, mayo on lettuce with no bun.. Today I made unbreaded baked zucchini with tomato sauce and mozz. cheese. I'm also exercising more.

It's my understanding you can subsitute some high fiber grams for carb grams, but I'm unsure how to do the calculations so I don't bother. If you like bread Nature's own has some low cal, low carb whole wheat with fiber,white and honey wheat bread.

Monster I eat hi carb foods, or low carb foods, and my blood sugar does not come down when I eat the low carbs, it stays in the 130-140 range even then. I eat whole wheat bread, and sometimes do go to hi carb foods, and then it peaks up in the hi 160's. I am on Trajenta, have lost 19 lbs, and walk 3-4 times a week. Recently I had two injections of steroids, but it was two weeks ago, so I doubt that is the cause.

Sugar is interesting-you can have your sugar and eat it too. If your dr tells you to eat less sugar you need to fire right back at him and say, don't you mean carbs? Do you know of anyone who sits and eats a cup of sugar? No. But I bet we have all eaten a cup of potatoes rice or pasta or bread....

For lunch I usually have a very low carb and low sugar wheat wrap with chicken, tuna or steak with just lettuce and Boar's Head natural honey mustard, which has minimal carbs and sugar. Dinner for me is the hardest after a long day. I usually don't know what to have that will fill me up until the next morning. What are your dinner ideas? For snacks I have no sugar jello, carrots or a small apple.

Avatar f tn For me nuts is the trick and 3 meals + 3 snacks a day. If I it eat a fruit, I also eat a little bit of nuts, low fat cheese, 2% yogourt or even a piece of chicken or fish. You shouldn't avoid carb but choose well. Complexe carb and high in fiber help delay hunger and feel full. Whole cereals products went choosing bread and pasta go a long way. Also take you time to eat and drink lot of water.

Avatar m tn Strongly recommend that the patient adopts a very low carb, moderate protein and high (healthy fats) diet. This will lower her insulin requirements to cover food. Despite difficulty of weight loss, this should be attempted with moderate calorie restriction (this is easier on a low carb diet, as the high fat makes it quite satisfying, and using low carb veges for their filling effect. Weight loss will help reduce insulin resistance.
