Anxiety medication effexor

Common Questions and Answers about Anxiety medication effexor

anxiety

Avatar n tn Effexor and Zoloft are two different meds. Yes, I think it would have helped if her Dr would have weaned her off the Effexor. What she's going through is withdrawal from the Effexor. Can she ask her Dr if he has any samples of the Effexor so she can wean off of it? I'm really not sure if she can take these two meds together or not. She may have to wean and then go on the Zoloft.
1179039 tn?1263993568 Years ago I took Paxil which helped greatly, but the withdrawal symptoms were for me, really quite bad and I had to take it real slow. I was then off medication for 12 years, but a few years ago the anxiety came back with a vengance. Now I am trying to find the right medication for me. I have a wonderful doctor who is an expert in this field and he has reassured me that it is alright to switch the medication, I was only on 3mg of Lexapro and am only taking 37,5 of the exeffor.
411389 tn?1230124477 My doctor put it best - when taking effexor (plus many other anti-anxiety medicines like that) it gets worse before it gets better - and is the same when you come off of it. You will also find that on here, there are people who are on the medicine side of things and those of us who are on the "as natural as possible" side of things. I am on the latter. I have and occaisionally take Xanax, but am dealing with my anxiety head on using methods that were developed by Dr. Claire Weekes.
Avatar f tn Ive been prescribed somas and vicoden for 2 years just recently found out in pregnant but i can go without something to relax me i was on effexor and xanax as well i dont kno what to ask my dr thats safer i have bad anxiety and panic attacks as well as bad back pain due to car accident .
Avatar f tn If your doctor just increased your dose of Effexor due to the week of anxiety, understand that it's going to take time for the new dose to help. Ask your doctor if he/she can prescribe you a mild anti-anxiety med to help you while that gap is being bridged. Be sure to tell the doctor about your "weird" thoughts. I'm not sure if that is a common side effect and it's possible you have a sensitivity to this particular medication.
1472535 tn?1287684045 The withdrawal was bad I know the doctor is going to tell me to give these tablets a chance like I did all the others until I become dependant on them I know I need something to help me because I cannot help the way I feel Im being referred to a local anxiety class so maybe this will help so I can finally get off medication and supplement it with some natural remedies :)
492527 tn?1212175672 What would be the better medication for depression, anxiety, and social anxiety. Effexor xr or Zoloft.
Avatar f tn I was on 150mg Effexor, and it did help with anxiety. I am now off it, and the anxiety has come back. You should be OK on that dosage, and you can always talk to your doctor if you are worried. Yes Effexor is very difficult to withdraw from, so be sure you want to stop it. My doctor suggested I came off the Effexor. I have been on anti depressants for many, many years. I know it is difficult to control anxiety without medication. I hope your therapist will be helpful.
Avatar f tn so that leaves me here, at almost 24 years old with no college degree (i recieved a HS diploma through an alternative program) and still living at home, hoping that with the absence of effexor in my body i will finally be able to live my life again, the way i did before the medication. though i still had anxiety and depression then, i maintained a great deal of healthy and fulfilling relationships that i no longer have. i cared about people then.
Avatar n tn t sound like you need brain medication at all. On top of this, many people get more anxious on Effexor, because it is a stimulating anti-depressant, so it's unlikely a knowledgeable physician would start with this one for anxiety. My opinion, and take it for what it is, just an opinion, is that you need to decide if you're anxious or not. Believe me, you'll know it if you are.
Avatar n tn I have been on effexor for 6 months and it seemed to work okay. I felt tired and lazy when on it so I asked for something different. I was given celexa and since I switched over three days ago I have felt like ****. Is this because of the old medication being stopped or should I go see my doctor?
Avatar f tn She is in her own home with my father (87 years old and very healthy) and both do not want to change their residence. She also has an anxiety disorder - GAD which, I believe, has been exacerbated by the surgeries. Her family doctor has placed her on the lowest dose of Effexor XR, Oxazepam, and Risperidol (as well as Levothyroxine, Calcium and various other vitamin pills). She has been on the three medications for almost two years.
Avatar f tn You might want to talk to your doc about reducing your anti anxiety medication. Do you have the same doc for both the concerta and the effexor? Note, Concerta should last about 8 hours while the Vyvannse could go 10 to 12 hours. Also Concerta is a Methylphenidate, while Vyvannse is an Adderall based med and is stronger. You might want to try the Vyvannse again, but increase the dose slower.
1665434 tn?1365238898 ve started venlafaxine (venlablue)/effexor. This medication does have some start up or transient side effects associated with it. That means that early on while taking it, a person can have short term side effects as their body gets used to the medication. They typically go away and the drug should be up and working by 6 to 8 weeks. It is disappointing that you are feeling your anxiety worsen but again this could be due to the transient nature of early side effects.
Avatar f tn He Jewel, So sorry to hear things are hurting right now. There are many medications that may be suitable and it is best for you to talk to a doc and agree on what is to be subscribed. Given the past abuse I would suggest too you are in dire need of talk therapy but that may have to wait until you are through court and settled down. Reason for that is talk therapy can be ineffective if you are too depressed or erratic. You would likely not be able to concentrate properly etc.
250155 tn?1485295939 My dr just prescribed me Effexor for my anxiety and he also gave me a prescription of Hydroxyzine (an antihistamine). Has anyone else taken either or possibly both together? I started the Effexor yesterday, but am reluctant about the antihistamine.
Avatar m tn Effexor treated my social anxiety pretty well though, so it depends on every med/ every individual
Avatar m tn I really have a serious problem with doctors giving people effexor. I have had anxiety attacks the past few years and was put on effexor for them. I can honestly say that I would rather have anxiety attacks any day then have to go through the withdrawal symptoms associated with effexor. I have been on many medications and have never ever had to do deal with such withdrawal symptoms as effexor..
Avatar f tn My aunt, who is an internist, also prescribes Effexor frequently for her patients that suffer from anxiety and depression and has had great success with it. Also, I'm not sure if it has already come out, but my aunt has said there will be a new version of Effexor that is "cleaner", meaning it has less side effects. I'm sure you already know this, but all medications require time and patience! It can take a while for them to truly start doing their job. I take Xanax (.
Avatar n tn No one here can really say when you come off of Celexa. It's a medication that works to combat depression and anxiety--often those two go hand-in-hand. It's not a miracle pill that one day you're suddenly better and can come off of taking it. The process is something you need to work on as well.
Avatar n tn What do you mean, return to your waves of anxiety? You mean what you had before you took Effexor, or something different? If something different, it may be continuing withdrawal -- symptoms aren't just physiological, they can also create emotional difficulties. If the same, it means you never solved your original problem, you just medicated it, and probably weren't ready to be off medication. 5htp is a metabolite of tryptophan, and manufactures serotonin in the body.
Avatar f tn I have always had anxiety and panic disorder and have been taking effexor and trazadone for years. they don't seem to be working lately and I never leave the house anymore. I see a new doctor on Thursday and was wondering if there is a medication out there that could help me. My father went thru all of this and he was an alcoholic. Lately I have been getting twitches too, is there a medication for that too? thanks...
Avatar n tn I ended up in the Er, after using Celexa, and Effexor ( @ different times ) , b/c I ended up having worse panic/anxiety attacks. Each time I was told from seperate Dr's, that these meds can only make it worse. . ( I must mention I've had severe anxiety for about 7 yrs, and just when a dr.
Avatar n tn I had anxiety after stopping the zyprea so tried using herbal medicine but it didnt work so I went to my regular internist who checks my liver and cholesterol for anxiety medication. I had mentioned that I used kolonopine and it worked for me fine. I think the internist was more concern for me to be put on antidepression med. I did let him know that I was not depression but had anxiety. I took one capsul and had bad side effect within an hour. Slight confusion, nausea, heart palpitation.
Avatar f tn My question is why am I being prescribed depression medication when treating my anxiety? and should I be taking something else with Wellburtin to combat my anxiety, mainly go back on Effexor? For got to add I have cloazapan to take in the morning and evening but it doesn't do a thing for me either. Finally wanted to know how long I should take Wellburtin for it to start working? Any help is appreciated, this trial and error stage really *****!
Avatar n tn Then she switched me to Celexa 20 mg taking for one wk with Effexor and then Effexor every other day. The Effexor did curb my anxiety. Been on Celexa for 2wks now. A wk on its own.
