704458 tn?1236841243 Well I though today I would add to my exercise efforts and go up and down my stairs for 15 minutes as an added cardio workout I could do at home..... My staircase has 13 stairs - I went up and down 15 times in 5 minutes and thought I was going to die...lol Got the cardio workout in a very short burst - so every day Im going to increase by one extra up and down so tomorrow I plan to do 16 sets....
Avatar f tn I, too, have spasticity in my arms and legs. Stairs, up hill, heck, even stirring the scrambled eggs this morning were a major workout! It's been like this for a couple of years for me. My muscles are always fighting each other. I go ahead and do as much walking and cycling as I can just to keep conditioned. My muscles burn before, during and after, and I have no idea if I'm doing myself any harm. I'm kind of at the point of "it is what it is".
Avatar f tn This machine uses an escalator-style platform to mimic the movement of climbing stairs. This workout can be fairly low impact, depending on the speed. To reap the full benefit, try not to rest your weight on your arms as you hold on to the rails. Instead, lightly grasp the rails for safely. As you can imagine, climbing stairs for an extended period of time is quite difficult as you move your full body weight against gravity. This machine doesn’t disappoint! Spin class has people sweating daily.
Avatar f tn Yes you're supposed to workout while pregnant. My job is very physical and requires me to constantly lift objects often 50 pounds or more, run up and down several flights of stairs a day, plus I'm constantly on my feet walking around for 9 hours. I'm already in good shape so my doctor said it's fine for me to stay at my job throughout my pregnancy.
Avatar f tn Good job on the workout! In the days after your workout you'll experience two different kinds of muscle soreness. Within the first 24 hours of your workout, you might be kind of sore. This is normal--your workout created little tears in your muscles and they need to repair. This is when you rest. You can still go to the gym, as long as you don't exercise those muscles that you focused on yesterday. 24-48 hours after your workout, Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness will set in.
Avatar f tn What was you ladies workout routine afteryou got cleared to workout? Did it hurt when you first started working out? How soon did you see results?
Avatar f tn Is detox water safe to drink? I am 26 weeks and i don't feel to happy with myself. Is it possible to get in shape while pregnant? Of course I wouldn't workout hard just walk, and do some stairs at the gym. Was wondering if detox water is okay? It would contain ONLY water, cucumber, lemon, mint, and grapefruit.
Avatar f tn It's important to remember there's no way to choose where weight loss happens. What you can do is workout these specific areas, this will give them an overall toned appearance and they'll seem slimmer. If you want to lose weight you should make a lifestyle change : eat healthier ( this doesn't mean less), be more active ( if not going to the gym or signing up for a sport/class, you can choose to take the stairs or walk rather than the alternative).
Avatar f tn but mention 12 minute miles, which unless on an upgrade should be a light workout from what you tell us of your past athletic activities. I think a check-up with an EP would be a good idea. I agree your HR is too high for the level of workout and assumed physical condition as you describe it.
Avatar f tn What do you do for exercise? I get so bored doing my workout videos and dance videos and strength training in my living room and it's over 90 degrees out lately so I'm too uncomfortable for walks. Before pregnancy I did turbo fire which was great but I'm so out of shape now I'd die of I tried it. So what do you suggest to get moving?
Avatar f tn It takes about 3 minutes into a workout to feel what I think I should be feeling at the end of my workout. I feel like my muscles are going to jump out of my skin and they are on fire. It makes it hard to get through my workouts. What the could this be? It has always been this way.
Avatar f tn So yesterday I tried going up a flight of stairs and my legs del so sore. This morning I woke up with my body aching. I'm 27 weeks and I used to be pretty and I used to be pretty active up until the 2nd month of pregnancy because I felt like I couldn't breathe. Is this muscular ache normal?
Avatar f tn A couple minutes afterwards, though, my thigh muscles cramped up like crazy. My legs also felt super weird going down a flight of stairs (kind of felt like my thigh muscles didn't even exist). Today, the next day, I'm in a LOT of pain when I go down stairs or go to sit down. Is this a normal muscular response to this? True I have probably never done a proper squat in my life but the pain feels too excessive to be normal?
Avatar f tn They can cause excruciating pain when walking, climbing stairs, or during any other activity in which you are on your feet. Treatments are available. Some are better than others. Find a doctor whom you can trust. Don't sit back (or walk, for that matter), and suffer, without first making your best effort to improve the situation. Take action. Ask questions. Don't allow yourself to be ignored. Now, get going. Best wishes.
2189208 tn?1339572701 I cried the other day because I had to go downstairs to find my clothes, it took me forever to find the outfit I wanted, then when I got to the top of the stairs (which is a workout for me) I dropped my underwear allll the way to the very bottom of the stairs. I just broke down and cried lol..
Avatar f tn Ideally this workout is done on a 400 meter track so you can time your intervals and monitor your progress; however you can also just use a watch and a flat stretch of road. Four to six of these workouts should be enough to make a difference in your 10K time. Finish one of your easy runs with 4 or 5 striders. Striders are 50-75 meters run at your 10K pace that keep your leg muscles accustomed to faster turnover. Save this one for 2 or 3 days after your short interval workout.
579258 tn?1250649343 Oh, and I have to add that I always dance and jump around with the girlies. They seem to think it's funny when Mommy is "dancing". Another funny thing- while I was doing my 20-minute workout my sweet baby girl (she's 21 months old) got on the mat and was intensely watching the trainer on the video. She was actually doing a really good job mimicking the trainer, too! It made me feel good, to SHOW them that exercise is important.
Avatar n tn I am a 200 lbs 24-year-old male 6'1" non-smoking. I try and workout daily and I played a lot of outdoor basketball between the ages of 18-24. About three months ago I had knee pain (not sure exactly what caused it) and it hurt to walk up and down stairs let alone jumping. I've stayed off my legs for the most part and my knee feels better, but it cracks and crackles now when I squat. I cannot see a doctor for another month and was wondering if I should be concerned.
Avatar n tn m 37 wks and my hips are so sore when I have to walk or move getting out of bed after laying for awhile hurts like crazy I can part put clothes on. Any others of u experience this...find anything that helped.
2063301 tn?1343833074 I started going to the gym around 2 months back and my trainer got me started on a high intensity of squats, steppers and abdomen related exercise such as squats and sit ups. And after about 2 months I developed a back and knee ache. My left knee hurts whenever I climb stairs or stand up from a sitting position but that pain is much more better than before.

Avatar f tn I have a concern about my pulse rate.. On sat. I was carrying containers of xmas things from the basement up the stairs. After several trips I was getting winded, like I was breathing too fast so I sat down, I took my B/P it was fine but my pulse rate was 144, in no more than 8 minuets it was 78, later during the day I checked it again and t was 58, my normal range is 55-70.. Is this anything serious or did I give myself a stress test.
Avatar f tn When I went in, they said I had a small leak and sent me home? I was so frustrated I walked up ND down stairs for an hour, went for a 2 mile jog and did easily over 200 squats and started contracting..I am now admitted into labor and delivery. As of an hour ago I am 5 cm dilated and 95% effaced. Contractions are strong! Can't wait to see my little man!!:) good luck mommies!!
Avatar f tn Hi there. I think where it is a pain is with strollers and things like that. If you can leave the stroller downstairs locked up when not in use or something, that would be good. I didn't live on the second floor but had a house where the driveway went down under--- so had steps to get into the house. And it was a two story house so carried the baby up and down stairs all day.
11515243 tn?1427129031 With my first born I was living in a town home with 2 cases of stairs. By the end of my pregnancy I asked my husband to start sleeping on the bottom floor. Thank goodness he agreed! I was so miserable. Good luck to you and your situation.
