Avatar n tn I had a roommate who used one of these in bad weather, and Gym is right, it's much easier to maintain and use than exercise equipment. I like the home exercise equipment, but as i said, it always turns out to need a lot of maintenance even when new.
Avatar m tn Frank, My neighbor whi is a Caption in the LA Fire Department invited me over one day to try out the P90X workout routine. We did the Plyometrics one that day and it was pretty awesome workout. I'm in pretty good shape and was a rower in college. Um that was 20 some years ago though but I wanted to get somewhat close to being in the shape I was.
Avatar f tn I really feel motivated to exercise and workout the muscles that haven't been used in probably 8 years. lol! Back when I was 14-17 I would join my father in the gym, but his trainer gave me different things to do to just be fit and toned. I do have some equipment at my house and my husband works crazy hours so we can't just go to a gym. Plus, I would like to look semi-decent to be able to even show up at a gym. (Yea, I've let myself go that bad.
703362 tn?1427766328 The exercise that I would like to talk about today is called "Plank". It requires no equipment, not a lot of time, and you don't have to be at a gym to perform it. Looks quite easy, but looks can definitely be deceiving....I would like for you all to give it a try and tell me how you did. Plank Exercise (see photo above): Works: Core How To: Assume a push-up position, then rest your forearms on the ground and hold for 30 seconds. Repeat as tolerated.
594189 tn?1386916607 I totally agree that it'd be really neat if they offered different sizes of the balance board. It's kinda tough to accommodate children and adults of all sizes with one standard piece of equipment. But I second the above: Don't get discouraged! You've come a long way and will make that mark soon. In the meantime, you should be able to play games that don't use the balance board. Have you played any Wii sports? Those came with the console back when I got my Wii.
Avatar f tn Okay so I can't go to the gym. I get really bad anxiety, like I'll go to walk through the door and start crying. I've always been this way. I walk an hour a day but I'm trying to get in shape and loose 10lbs for vacation in August.
Avatar f tn Many gyms have a wide selection of group classes that include yoga, aerobics, step aerobics and dance-style workouts such as Zumba. Joining a class for beginners can help if you feel unsure of how to proceed with your workout. Remember, you're likely not the only gym newbie in the class. As you exercise in a class, you might feel more confident and even find a future workout partner. Check the area of the gym that features a number of cardio machines.
483733 tn?1326798446 A big balance ball, a medicine ball, resistance bands, and small hand weights are also in my arsenal. I also found a really big floor mat online. Most of the mats in stores are not very wide, and it's kinda discourging if you don't feel like you fit well on your mat! Also, the wide mat is a great surface to do my video workouts on, and gives my joints an extra layer of padding on top of my shoes and carpet. Hmmm, I feel pretty guilty that I skipped my AM workout now!
1279364 tn?1280682588 I have to ask! Is the Shake Weight a viable piece of workout equipment for your upper body? I know it is for your stomach since you will be laughing so hard. =D But other than the laughs, which are good for your health, is it worth $20 & 6 minutes a day? PS - I don't think I could ever use this in front of the kids. Know what I mean?

5543061 tn?1369579782 A beginner level exercise, the wall press requires no additional equipment. Simply stand with your legs hip-width apart and your palms flat on the wall in front of you, at shoulder level. Keeping your right leg straight, slowly lift your heel off the floor behind you as you exhale. Hold for a count of five, then inhale as you slowly lower your heel back to the floor. Alternate between both legs, doing up to 10 repetitions per leg, gradually increasing the number of repetitions with each workout.
Avatar f tn Substituting your regular workout with a lighter day of walking can also provide the rest and recovery needed within a workout routine. The only equipment required is a comfortable pair of shoes. Even if you don’t have access to a treadmill, you can walk outdoors. Running is the most common form of exercise for children and adults. Many people choose to run outside but treadmills can offer a reasonable alternative when the weather is bad.
Avatar f tn Is detox water safe to drink? I am 26 weeks and i don't feel to happy with myself. Is it possible to get in shape while pregnant? Of course I wouldn't workout hard just walk, and do some stairs at the gym. Was wondering if detox water is okay? It would contain ONLY water, cucumber, lemon, mint, and grapefruit.
Avatar f tn If you can find a store with exercise equipment, there are weights you can wrap around your ankles to increase resistence. Between the strength training and cardio workout, you will burn those extra calories and fat stored in the waist and thighs, and also increase your metabolism to continue burning those calories after your workout. Remember, without the proper foods and drink in your diet, no amount of exercise will really help. Good luck! I know you can start a routine!
Avatar f tn m going tonight to pick it up and hopes for Staurday to be my first workout! I chose a gym that is close to my trainstation that I get out of from work (so I would be more inclined into going after work) and also this gym is good because it's well over 20 blocks from house. I plan to walk going and coming home so that will burn more calories too! I'm so excited!!!!
Avatar f tn Women who have a healthy hormone balance tend to enjoy their lives the most. Hormone fluctuations can result in several problems such as perimenopausal difficulties, premenstrual syndrome, mood swings, fibroids, heart disease, breast cancer, and ovarian cysts. Usually, women don’t completely meet what their bodies need—food and exercise to reduce stress and feel better. Diet, nutrition, and workout are some of the common lifestyle changes that can help women restore hormone balance.
Business woman1 I advise my patients with similar complaints to start low intensity muscle toning (reps using 15-20 lbs 3 days a week) and upper body aerobic exercise 1-2x weekly (ie swimming, eliptical). Hiring a personal trainer may also give you the structure and guidance that will help you achieve your goal but without sustaining an injury. But the results can be slow (ie 3-6 months) Hope this helps!
8793709 tn?1409594060 hi ladies I'm 8+5 now, and try to hit the gym around 4 times a week. I stopped using the hip abductor and adductor, which strengthen the hip and inner/outer thigh muscles. I'm equally uncomfortable/insecure about doing the ab-machine (crunch thing) ... even the rowing machine seems a lil too rigorous. as of now I only do the cross-trainer for around 50 min which burns 500cal.
Avatar f tn d suggest you join a gym that has a full menu of exercise equipment like cardio machines (doing the same form of exercise will get boring and cause your muscles to adapt to that one form of exercise and eventually you will see less and less progress), freevweights, strength, and core equipment. I don't know your level of fitness so I can just give some general guidelines. I'd suggest that for every day you walk you do a day of strength/core training on the next day.

1456938 tn?1314573436 NEVER stretch before a workout...ONLY ONLY ONLY stretch AFTER a workout ! ! ! ! Cold muscles get injured when they are stretched. Warm muscles are happy when they are stretched and it is a nice thing to do for your body.) That might be what I'd say.....if I knew you were still around....
Avatar f tn ve done tons of research about stomach fat and the best way to burn it is by a balanced diet and by drinking a lot of water and engaging in both cardio and strength training, but is there anything else? i workout usually everyday, at the least 5 times a week, very rarely 4. I eat quite heathy, taking in a lot of fruits and vegetables and trying to watch my serving sizes and portions.
Avatar n tn I'm kinda out in the boonies, no town large enough nearby to support having a gym. What I would love are some exercises to do at home....I don't really have equipment.
Avatar f tn What are good workout moves (squats/lunges etc.) that really tone and get rid of the extra fat around my upper thighs and hips without having to use any equipment/have to go to a gym and how many of each would i have to do. Thanks!
