Avatar f tn Your body may be building an immunity to your medication, while "teaching" the other parts of your brain. Your best bet is to make an appointment w/ your neurologist. When first put on Keppra I was seizure-free for approx. 3 yrs before the seizures gradually came back. I've had auras & complex partials all of my life but at an older age I statred having grand mals as well. In regards to video games and computers it all depends on what triggers the seizures.
Avatar f tn Hello. You have done a good job by bringing this to the forum. There is a possibility of a partial seizure. But you should also consider something called as eye tics. These are not so uncommon in infants. You may need to get an EEG done. A video EEG is preferred. It has the advantage of letting us see the brain waves during such an episode or up rolling of eyes. Did he have any significant birth complications?
Avatar n tn t look at any of them for more than a few minutes before having a seizure. It is very plausible that he could have seizures from playing video games for that amount of time if he is photo sensitive.
Avatar n tn At 13 my daughter had what was diagnosed as PNES. Psychogenic Non Epileptic Seizures. These types of seizures are brought on from stress, or a set of stressful events. There is usually an initial trigger, but the worst part is that you may never find that trigger. Most kids grow out of them, but some do not. My daughter had them for about 14 months. She was having 25-30 a day. Flashing, strobe, or police lights triggered them too. Her eyes would cross too like your daughters.
Avatar n tn Surgery may be a good option for many people, especially if their seizures consistently begin in the same location within the temporal lobe. Many people become seizure-free when the affected portion of the lobe is removed.
699912 tn?1235667950 You will be 80% chance of becoming seizer free. You will have an MRI and they will notice if you have swollen scar tissue on the side of the brain that is causing you to have seizers, my fiance had his surgery on the left side of the brain and hadn't had one seizer afterword. He used to have partial complex seizers every other day, once or twice a day. The surgery was a miracle. They will do tests to make sure the surgery will not effect your memory or speech first.
Avatar m tn Under certain circumstances this can precipitate an actual epileptic seizure. Or a medical condition somewhat short of a complete seizure. The same thing can happen from the flickering of sun through an aircraft propeller blade. Certain animations and CRT configurations exacerbate this phenomena. The "flicker" affects the brain. How exactly a seizure is induce is not clear. This medical problem has been well-documented and researched.
Avatar f tn My husband is 30 and yesterday had a severe seizure. His body tensed up, and his eyes rolled in the back of his head and then he started compulsiving and spitting up. I believe this was a seizure. After wards he became very combative and was very confused. He doesn't remember the seizure at all. The doctor said that it was due to substances abuse.
1545371 tn?1330798707 I had tonic clonic seizures, complex partial and myoclonic seizures. I have been seizure free on medication for several years now. A large proportion of my seizures occured during sleep. I reduced my meds several years ago with the help of my neurologist as i was keen to get pregnant. Lately i have been wakening feeling extremely groggy and tired which lasts throughout the day and my body aches when i waken. I feel some days like i have been hit by a bus.
Avatar f tn I could literally see it in my arm, it was actually fluctuating almost like viabrating, id describe it as a mini seizure. I have absolutely no clue why this is happening, but its recently been happening a lot to my neck and back. If anyone could shed a bit of light on this, that would be great. Thanks for reading this.
Avatar m tn All three prescriptions were for the idea of Epilepsy which is misdiagnosed. Every EEG (except the video EEG 2000 stated above) including a video home surveillance EEG in 2005 showed no signs of seizure/miscommunication in brain. Several MRIs all unremarkable and VNG done in 2016 unremarkable results. Last Neurologist/vestibular specialist I saw believed it not be vertigo or epilepsy but actually migraines. After months almost a year of magnesium and riboflavin supplements, no relief.
Avatar f tn My disorder is called Simple-Partial seizures with Aura. The symptoms are much like those of a severe panic attack only panic attacks don't have the Aura. The aura is where you start feeling REALLY weird like your going to go crazy, feel like your going to die right before you seizure, limbs with pins and needles, numbness, especially in my lips/face, headache, my muscles will burn, freezing, profuse sweating, and this could last all day before I have a seizure in the evening.
486038 tn?1300063367 Do I need to seek testing? I have had several possible seizure last fall, they ranged from several seconds (were I would just stare in space and not speak) to several minutes (where I had an aura before had that felt like something washed over me and then I was seperated or a bit detached and I could not speak and afterwards had a terrible headache) and these were witnessed by my mom.
Avatar f tn Then I went to another neurologist who had me do another long term video eeg. I had a seizure on it which did not show up on the eeg and did not possess any resemblance to epileptic seizures. I had just been kicked out of school due to the fact that my seizures were "disturbing to the other students". After that, I went and saw a psychologist who kept changing the reasons for my seizures. I stopped seeing him after he began trying to sell me his "stress tapes".
Avatar f tn at the time he was playing a video game. we found out this day that he had a smaller type seizure at a friends house about a month ago that he did not tell us about. during both times he was playing video games. he also complains of periodic headaches, but they are not bad. EMS was called and he was taken to the ER. at first they did a cat scan with contrast that was normal. the next morning they did an MRI with contrast. they found a 1.1cm right temporal lobe 'lesion'.

Avatar n tn His neurologist did a ph test that was normal and then an impedance study that had some abnormalites and they told us it was reflux and put him on 30mg of previcid twice a day. They also did an video eeg and said it was normal except that he had slower than normal brain activity. He went awhile with hardly any eposides and then all of a sudden one night started having then every night and we noticed new attrubits to them.
Avatar m tn Has he only ever had the one seizure? I have no idea what the odds are that he will have another one. We are not doctors here, just people who either have information or are looking for information.
536029 tn?1213648108 This may have to be treated with a combination of anti-seizure drugs. These anti-seizure medications may also address the burning feeling (neuropathic in origin) and help minimize them. If there are any one in the site with similar symptoms, I request that they share their experiences with our friend here. Wishing you all the best. Regards and God bless.
Avatar f tn There is a condition called psychogenic nonepileptic seizure (PNES) in which there are sudden and time-limited disturbances of motor, sensory, autonomic, cognitive, and/or emotional functions, these are psychogenically determined. Other conditions mimicking seizures are conversion disorder, panic attacks and migraine attacks. Sometimes a video EEG may be recommended which records EEG pattern during a particular time period. It is also advisable to rule out preeclampsia.
Avatar n tn There is a condition called migralepsy.A video EEG may be able to help differentiate a seizure aura from a migraine aura.I am not sure how sensitive and how specific this test is but it may shed some light on your daughter's condition.
Avatar m tn Good morning or good evening to everyone ! So I am epileptic (not photosensitive), I am under a treatment (I didn't do a seizure for more than a year), and my doctor prohibited video games, but I want to know why and if I can still do animations using Garry's mod (a tool that looks like a game but that I wouldn't really call a game, it looks like this : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aM2MA6xOXzk ) thank you !
Avatar f tn I just posted a video of them at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?
