Avatar m tn Hi all, I started suffering from anxiety, out of the blue, back in May of this year, I tried paxil but did not like the way it made me feel, i couldn't even eat. Today I took my first dose of Zoloft 25 mg and tonight I felt like total crap. My whole body was tingling all over and I was very anxious. I ended up taking a xanax to help calm me down. I have read in other threads that most of the time the anxiety can get worse before it gets better on Zoloft.

Avatar m tn My cardiologist suggested that I take a very low dose of Atenolol to help with the anxiety attacks since my main complaint is my fast heart rates. Is this a wise choice for anxiety, or is there another medication or method to help me get better?

Avatar f tn can then recommend a treatment plan for your anxiety - which might involve talk therapy, diet/exercise, medication (anti-anxiety meds / antidepressants), or a combination of all three. I had severe irritable bowel symptoms associated with panic / anxiety, that are now under control with my current treatment (lexapro, xanax, therapy, and exercise). Hope this helps..
Avatar f tn I suggest that you take Zoloft for anxiety and not to add any other combo to overcome depression for which you can try rtms Just google it you will get more info
Avatar m tn Anxiety is one thing. Reflux, though, is another. That is usually a dietary problem. For some it's caused by lying down too soon after eating. For some it's not chewing your food thoroughly. For some it's the food you're eating. Medication doesn't control this very healthfully because it suppresses stomach acid, and you need that to digest protein and minerals. My own experience is that changing how you eat and when you eat, plus using natural remedies works better.
1679320 tn?1306382914 I was also aware that for some people they have a chemical imbalance that causes them to be depressed that they cannot fix without medication. Is this possible with anxiety as well and if so is medication the only answer to take away that anxiety which is caused by something physical and not mental.
Avatar n tn You may want to discuss this with your doctor and look into beta blockers. Anxiety related specifically to performance issues can be overcome without the use of benzodiazepines. Lots of athletes, musicians, public speakers use beta blockers before an event. Check this out: http://www.ethanwiner.com/BetaBlox.
Avatar f tn So my question to membes is how does one overcome this fear of medication. I know I have to learn to conquer this anxiety, so any responses would be appreciated. Thanks.
Avatar m tn It IS possible to overcome anxiety without medication, but I would strongly recommend you work with a good therapist if this is the path you choose. It is absolutely your right to decide you do not want to take psychotropic (NOT "psycho") medications, but where did you get the idea they would "screw your head up?" For generalized anxiety, which in my humble and non-medical opinion is what I believe you have, the medications used are very effective, mild and safe.
Avatar m tn I take LORAZEPAM .5MG as needed for sleep and anxiety - would it be ok to take 1mg for very bad panic attacks? what is the maximum daily dose and expected side effects at each dose?
Avatar f tn Agoraphobia I feel is rooted in anxiety disorder and that is rooted in depression. I'm not a fan of medications because it can take a long time to find one that even helps a little. One made me feel A LOT worse.
4964026 tn?1363535005 That's good to know that you are better now. How did you came out of anxiety without any medication?
Avatar n tn 25 a go that is, zeprexa 10mg, prozac 60mg and inderal 80mg, I also drink but this is i think (hope) under control ,as the whole reason i drank was to stop an oncoming attack in social settings the calming effect which for me is an elusive but addicting feeling , my question is will i always have to take all these meds, has anyone overcome a panic disorder without being drugged, which is how i feel most of the day, wandering in and out of reality - if that makes sense??
Avatar f tn I always had slight anxiety but because of what’s going on in my life I imagine it increased my anxiety . The anxiety would be racing heart before meetings or public speaking and then turned into anxiety at times to eat . I couldn’t sit in a restaurant or I would start panicking . Never mind eating food that was not happening . I had to focus on swollening and that is not the way to eat . Anyways the anxiety has subsided a bit with positive thinking and just moving on with my day .
Avatar n tn Right now I feel I can manage my anxiety without taking anything extra. When my anxiety becomes bothersome I drink Kava tea and take a hot bath. When I was suffering from debilitating panic disorder years ago, I took the lorezapam once or twice a day until the Paxil kicked in. My panic attacks this time around were benign compared to those of years ago. The 12.5mg of PaxilCR has done wonders for me.
1679320 tn?1306382914 is it possible that anxiety doest come back after taking medication for it or is it a guaranteed to hit you again after stopping?

Although it wont help you overcome you health anxiety as only you can but it does help reduce the symptoms drasticaly and minimizes irrational patterns of thought with the exercises and psychological exercises it tells you to do but its much more complex than what I make it to be.
Avatar f tn I just want to know if it is possible to overcome anxiety without medicines. I'm scare of taking them and become addicted or affected by the side effects. I think i'm getting better. I'm startint to look forward to family reunions and activities related to the holidays and i actually get excited thinking about christmas. Avatar f tn Soooo many people suffer from anxiety though, and I dont know if this is comfort for you but you are not alone! Anxiety su*ks! But you will become a stronger person from it, and you can overcome it. Dont let your mind get the best of you. Remember that anxiety is just irrational thoughts...you can gain control back.
Avatar m tn Your drug is also used for anxiety, usually social anxiety, so it might be helping. But when you're obsessive about something, the only way to overcome it is to stop doing it. If you think taking the drug isn't helping but is just obsessive, a good therapist, probably one who specializes in CBT, might help guide you through this. But if you feel you're going to need medication, well, you're on one used for anxiety that's easier to stop taking than most.
