Common Questions and Answers about Lump above outer ankle

lump

On my right shin about 6 inches above my ankle. It is on the left outer side of my shin bone. My lump is about the size of a half dollar, and it is soft. I have had it for a little over a month, and it just started aching this week. Like you stated, I feel like I am having shin splint pains. Let me know if you find anything out. I am going to the doctor tomorrow because it has become pretty painful.
I have had a lump under the skin right above my left outer ankle with a red spot and also it causes pain and swelling when I don't have it elevated. I have had an x-ray, blood work and an MRI and all they found was tissue swelling. I was referred to a dermatologist who believes it may be the result of some virus I came in contact with. I have had it for over a month. I have not been sick with a cold or anything else. I have not run a fever. The lump or area of the ankle are not warm to touch.
It does move around, feels a bit like a fatty lump, I've also noticed another one just above it too. I've booked an appointment with my GP, the next available one is June 10th (3 half weeks away)!!! Obviously I wanted a female doctor. I'm constantly worrying. I haven't told anyone, my sister is due a baby anyday so I don't want to worry my mum or anyone. I feel sick everyday cos I'm worrying so much, I've convinced myself it's cancer. As soon as I find out what it is I will let you all know.
Hi. Since April I have had pain above my left breast. It's not constantly there, but it comes and goes. Sometimes it feels like a burning pain, other times it feels like a cramp. I've also felt it in my armpit at times and it will also creep up over my shoulder. Although I VERY RARELY feel it on the right side, it DOES happen once in awhile. But for the most part it's been my left side.
After I had finished reading the other post, I decided that I had held this long enough, when I took the cloth from the lump I noticed that there was a lot of brown puss coming from the lump. I am so glad that I found this site and that you all have had the same problem, being that I don't have any insurance I haven't been to the doctor for this. Now I am wondering how long it will be before the lump is completely gone since the puss has begun. Please help me.
At home I looked at it and there wasn't big bruise, just really tiny purple-ish spot right above outer ankle bone of my right foot. It was bit painful to walk and move the foot. Next day the bruising was nearly disappeared but mild pain and sensitiveness to that area stayed. Then I noticed a tiny lump on that spot, I think there is some tendons on that area. Now almost four weeks later I still feel tender spot, where I hit the ankle, when I touch it.
Even after 2 courses of Zithromax, I still had a reddish purple lesion just above my right ankle on the outer part of my leg. The irregularly shaped lesion extended up my leg about 7 cm and was about 2.5 cm wide. It appeared to be filled with fluid. I finally asked my PCP for referral to a dermatologist. On my 1st visit to the derm. he took a brief look at the lesion and prescribed bactroban and clobetasol ointments which I used faithfully for 2 weeks.

My youngest son and I went for a walk today, as we do every day, and when we came back I noticed that I had developed a small lump about an inch above my right ankle on the outer edge. It hurts like all bleep to touch it, and when I do touch it all of the toes on that foot start moving to the left, and they "scrunch" inwards. I tried touching the exact same spot on my left leg but nothing happens to those toes.
It happens about 2x a day, lasts a few seconds and it has moved around my body. Started in the left wrist, went to the left knee, then ankle, and the over to the right knee. Now it's been happening behind my right thigh for about 2 weeks. Very strange.
Our onsite nurse at work suggested asking my primary for an MRI to ensure there was no break in the foot or ankle. I called and scheduled the MRI for 6/4 - almost 2 weeks since the initial symptoms had started. Meantime, I wore a walking shoe we had left over from other toe injuries that the hospital had given us mainly because my foot hurt more when it was in a sneaker and the walking shoe just had soft velcro closures. I got the MRI done and went to work.
These new, FAR worse symptoms started with a high fever, flu-like symptoms, swollen glands, and an large hot red lump (told lump itself was deep, ultrasound revealed nothing) in my breast which went away with antibiotics - but the illness never did, and I'm going on three years.
Numbness and burning and itchy. It started out the size of a quarter just above my knee cap during my last pregnancy. Docs said it would go away after I delivered because most likely a nerve was being pressed on...Needless to say it did not go away, and has only been progressivley getting worse. It now starts just above the knee cap and covers almost the whole upper thigh in front...no numbness or anything on the back of my leg.
So far, I have not had anything major happen, ie) seizures, or extreme dizziness,,, the only thing that I have had are, some stomach pain, finger, lip and cheek twitching, pain in my upper calf close to my knee, and two days of slight ankle pain. My left hand tremor appears to still be lessened alittle but its still there. My sinuses are still clogged up even though I had sinus surgery in Feb of this year, my nose is still numb and I still can't breath.
They look dressy and attractive for the city, but I think of them as my walking shoes. BUT -- they come above the ankle, and all that stability in the sole and ankle makes them very stiff. It seems that the chair I was sitting in, and the posture I typically use when I wear these shoes while writing, was a bad combination that created a slight, but constant torque on my left knee.
Then 2 days later it disappeared and I was fine for a full 24 hours. The day after that, the arch of my feet and each ankle had the same exact feeling. It hurt to touch but even when I wasn't touching it, there was still a pain. But it felt like I had either pulled something or i had bruised myself (which Im not ruling out either, because Im quiet clumsy). The next day It was my right shoulder and 3 days later (now) its my left wrist and thumb. Its driving me crazy.
Most recent dr noticed decreased strength in my right ankle as well, I cannont flex my right foot for very long or very high. Other problems maybe related or not: chronic constipation, decreased feeling but not numbness in right finger tips and toes. Sometimes I feel "cold splashes of water" like a spray bottle of cold water on my legs. Sometimes on front of thighs, sometimes on back. Not pins and needles, but just brief feeling of cold water spray.
tearing in the outside of my left foot, real close to the ankle bone. This is always in pain since I bend my foot to move and walk. The pain has begun moving into my calf. I found this forum quite by chance. I'll keep my fingers crossed that somebody will be properly diagnosed and will post their prognosis.
I'm not sure if its considered the eyelid or part of the eyebrow area, but it is the skin directly below the eyebrow and directly above the skin that actually covers the eyeball. It started drooping very gradually, starting almost a year ago on the outer corner of the eye and now the drooping has spread full across the entire eye area from the outer to inner corner, making that eyeball appear like its sinking down my face.
said) i hit my upper ankle on a stool 2 times same place ended up with a hard lump bruise. hurt for months then got an itchy small rash on it and it went in an upside down triangle. itched for a few days then no itching but i still have the rash and the bruise is still there just not as dark as it was when first got it. the rash isn't as bad as it was before. just small red dots. glad i am not alone in bruising with a rash.
what a nightmare after reading the above threads. I was given cephalexin 500 mg x 2 for a nagging dry peeling skin above my upper lip. Doctor said it was a bacterial infection considering it wouldn't go away with a mild steriod cream. I was given 20 capsules for 10 days. I took 7 days without a problem along with a probiotic. I missed 1 day, took 1 pill the following day without a probiotic. The followowing day my arms started itching.
Also common side effects of Lexapro, as well as other anti-depressants, which can cause muscular and joint tension. Also could be caused by something else, as mentioned above, such as rheumatoid arthritis. Or not. But yes, they can all be caused by anxiety as well.
Thanks, I may be more anxious for your appointment than you are! The vibration has moved up my leg, now it's above my ankle. Anyway, sure hope your doctor knows what it is!
I feel for y'all. I have been suffering with the same thing (excrutiating knee pain) for years, but because I am a "good little doctor's daughter" I wouldn't go to the doctor. 20 years later the pain along my whole sciatic nerve is so excrutiating and constant I just can't stand it. I hobble and my leg muscles are noticibly smaller, to the point friends and family mention it. MRIs of spine, hip and knee show nothing, and steroid epidurals gave minimal relief.
Well the ER doc asked me how I slept and she told me that it could have a lot to do with it. She also said that she felt a lump on my right side (didn't know if it was caused by my fall or not) by my shoulder blade which is where it is very sensitive at times. So she diagnosed me with muscle spasms from the trapezius/rhomboid area and paraspiral muscles T 4-7 area < not sure what that meant. I have also been diagnosed with costochondritis.
I have a lump on my right index finger just above the knuckle. Have had it for a good few months. Just recently, it would appear that I have two lumps starting up on the same site, but on the other hand. Not at all painful but I am afraid I feel it makes my hands look rather awful. When holding a pen etc. I feel the lump is a bit of an impediment to writing.
I am 39, healthy, fit, BMI 23 etc etc, and ruptured my patella ligament yesterday trying to pull a wheelie on my 7-yr olds bike. My left knee/outer lower quads exploded in pain and I fell to the ground clutching it in agony, and had to pull it out straight. Never had pain like it, and have had a ruptured ACL on the other side before and prolapsed intervertebral disc, and #tibia before.
Muscle fasciculations are constant (only present during rest) muscle/joint pain and numbenss has subsided some but flares and is intense for short periods in my legs mostly. Also having hard time swallowing (lump in my throat feeling) and my voice is hoarse/weak with an occasional sore throat. Also experiencing facial tingling and numbness that comes and goes. My endo swears nothing is wrong with my thyroid because blood work would show it. Since MS has been ruled out ...
