Im 19 and have always had pretty regular periods... its usually moderately heavy the first 2 days and then starts to get lighter till the 5th day. i usually have cramps on the first 2 days that are manageable with a couple tylenol.

The bleeding is different, its light pink and not heavy like my usual periods.

Hi guys. I'm 42 years young and have always had short periods. Thiz time, I am on day 7 of heavy bleeding_ gushes in the toilet when I pee, and smelling strange esp today. No fever, or cramps. A lot of bloating and gas. I had a baby 10 weeks ago, is it possible my body is going through changes from the birth still? I have an overall healthy record, no diseases, or infections....although this could be one, have to go to dr. Soon ...

Lately it seems more sever with several missed periods. Sometimes I get cramps but no blood. Sometimes I get increased discharge instead of blood. Sometimes no cramps or blood at all. One time I got a really long and heavy period in 2011. I'm not pregnant, my boyfriend is working overseas. I think irregular sleep patterns are to blame, as I did shift work for 10 years. I'm also a "yo yo" dieter but I've never taken in less than 1200 calories a day.

Hello - my question is really does anyone know of or understand the link between having UC and suffering from heavy and painful periods? I have read about UC producing excess prostaglandin which in turn creates more contractions and sore periods. Is this true? Can someone please help me understand?

I had my tubes tied in 2005 and before that my periods lasted for about a week with very little pain and always regular. After I had the procedure I have periods that are very heavy, last for about 4-5 days and sometimes I have 2 periods in a month. in the last 6-9 months I have also been experiencing severe cramps and pass very large clots, and I feel a pressure in my pelvis that is very similar to when I was in labor. Is this something that some women experience or should I be concerned?

lighter when normally it was 5-6 days heavy major CRAMPS, How ever I started taking FIBERS everyday. I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was only 14 years old, due to very heavy periods, although they were normal in length & came on time. I'm 24 now, and for about the past two years I've had nothing but problems. I will go for 7 months with out a period, then I will bleed HEAVY for about 3 months. I've been to the doctor more times than I can remember, but nothing they do seems to help any in the long run. I am very frustrated.

ever since i've first gotten my periods they have been totally cramp free, decently light ((light enough that i wouldn't have to wear a pad and i didn't have to worry about leaking usually.)) and really awesome. never got any PMS or anything. they have been rather irregular, sometimes not appearing for three months, then appearing, but overall have been alright and not a problem. last period didn't give me any PMS warnings, like usual, but it was EXTREMELY heavy.

I had my regular period on the 9th, it was completely normal, pms-sore boobs, bloated and aching back, lasted 4 days and 2 days brownish discharge (sorry, tmi). Like another comment said, birth control can help with long or heavy periods. It has been prescribed by many doctors for those specific reasons.

I always have extremely heavy periods after my babies were born. I am pretty sure that most doctors don't recommend using tampons until after your 6 week check up (I totally understand because it would be way to easy to bleed through one) and for chance of infection. My periods were extremely heavy 3 months after having babies and then they started to get lighter, shorter and less painful! Hope you feel better soon!

Then after my first my periods went down to 4-5 days and not so heavy. Also my cramps are very minimum, but when i get them boy do they hurt. So i would say it is normal to change that much.

Every time i get my period i always have severe cramps up to two weeks before my period, and the cramps just lead to painful and very heavy, unbearable periods. Does this mean anything serious? What’s the cause of severe cramps and heavy periods?
