Avatar f tn Remar is spot on I agree 100%,,,there is no telling how the surgical menopause may effect you...a simple tubal ligation would be better in my opinion.
Avatar f tn I am 38 years old. I have 4 children already and had a tubal ligation and novasure. My tubal ligation was in 2007 and novasure was in 2009. I have had nothing but problems with my period since my tubal (hence the ablation).I was bleeding irregularly and very heavy. At one point I bled for almost 3 months very heavily, which is when my doctor and I decided to get my ablation. I continually had problems with my cycle after my ablation.
Avatar f tn Good Morning, I am also having Issues with my Clamp, I have had Symptoms for several years, but just kind of brushed them off because painful periods and Endometriosis run in my family, but I have Painful intercourse, Mood Swings, Heavy Long Periods, Sharp Stabbing Pains in my Stomach, and just general Discomfort. Avatar f tn This happens in on an average in 5 out of 1,000 women after 1 year. After a total of 5 years following tubal ligation almost 13 out of 1,000 women can become pregnant. Pregnancy may occur if the clips were not placed correctly or a new passage forms that allows an egg to be fertilized by sperm. Ectopic pregnancy can be life threatening if not diagnosed and treated. Consult a gynecologist and get the necessary investigations done.
Avatar f tn I had my tubes tied in 2005 and before that my periods lasted for about a week with very little pain and always regular. After I had the procedure I have periods that are very heavy, last for about 4-5 days and sometimes I have 2 periods in a month. in the last 6-9 months I have also been experiencing severe cramps and pass very large clots, and I feel a pressure in my pelvis that is very similar to when I was in labor. Is this something that some women experience or should I be concerned?
1380492 tn?1279128416 this is a surgical procedure to treat heavy periods where most of the lining of the womb is destroyed, I personally dont know anyone who has had this done but have read that it can be difficult to conceive due the lining of the womb not thickening up enough to accept the embryo or if it does attach, miscarriage is common due to the lining being too weak! Did you have this done because of heavy periods? where you told how it may affect future pregnancies ??
1347364 tn?1278185347 Wow, you poor thing. Did you hear about this PTLS from your doctor? Are you thinking of a reversal? I imagine if you got a reversal, then you're back at square one as far as preventing pregnancy. (I got my tubal at 38 due to my last baby being high-risk and it was suggested strongly that I was done. I probably would have had at least one more.) I guess if you had it reversed, you could ask your husband to get a vasectomy?? Those symptoms really run the gamut! And they sound awful.
Avatar f tn Hi there, After tubal ligation surgery a woman will have her menses and there are no menstrual changes following tubal ligation since there are no hormonal changes. After tubal ligation the chances of pregnancy are very less but there are chances of failure in any method. Pregnancy is the commonest cause of missed periods. Take up urine pregnancy test. If the test is negative you need to be evaluated for other possibilities like hormonal imbalances, thyroid dysfunction, ovulation disorders .
Avatar n tn Is there a chance that I could be pregnant, I have been having some signs but I had a tubal ligation done 12 years ago.?

Avatar n tn It could be a number of things. What type of TL did you have? It could just be a cyst which is very common after a tubal ligation. Also you will and may now already have signs of premenopause! That is what it does to your body to have a TL. It stops the natural floww of hormones and blood and can cause all sorts of problems. I had one and just had it reversed. I had a triple burn.
Avatar f tn I am pregnant with #3 after having a tubal ligation 11 years ago after the birth of my 2nd son. This pregnancy was a total shock to us but we couldn't be more happy.
Avatar n tn Hello, Tubal ligation, regardless of whether the tubes are cut, burned, clipped, banded, or tied, is about 99 percent effective, meaning that about 1 percent of women will conceive an unplanned pregnancy after tubal ligation. This failure occurs slightly more frequently in younger women and after 3 years of tubal ligation.
Avatar n tn How does a person over a 4 day period swell up so large in regards to tubal-ligation and still having menstral periods?
305180 tn?1279716747 I had tubal ligation 2 days after my daughter was born. I was 39 yrs with NO history of pr-menopausal symptoms . My mom didnt go into menopause until she was in mid fifties. At less than 40 yrs old my periods stopped completely, very bad symptoms of moodiness, passing out, hot flashes etc. They did a hormone level on me and I had NO estrogen's or progesterone at all. Funny my doctor didnt tell me this would happen as if she had I would NOT have done this so young.
1810145 tn?1316454839 I though it was because I had my tubes tide. I saw my GYN in Mar 11 after 2 months of having heavy periods with clots, very painful, weak, sore, cramps, lasting about 10 days or so. To me it was all due to me having my tubal ligation. However, my GYN disagreed with me, he told me that it had nothing to do with having my tubes tide.
Avatar f tn Hello, The delay in your periods can be due to either pregnancy(mainly ectopic) or post tubal ligation syndrome. Tubal ligation is not 100%fullproof for prevention of pregnancy and sometimes pregnancy may occur which may be ectopic in nature. Post tubal ligation syndrome is also common. It is often the result of a rapid decline of estrogen/progesterone hormone levels caused by the blood supply being decreased to the ovaries during the TL surgery.
Avatar f tn Well here it goes I am 44 yrs old and I had a Tubal Ligation 4 yrs ago and have had regular cycles everry 26 days exactly well I was due to have my cyclle on the 22nd of May and here it is the 26th and nothing I took a prenancy tests on the 24th it was negative. I had tender breasr like two weeks ago I said maybe it was because I was probably ovulating. So my question is, is it possible that I may be pregnant? Or maybe it is something else.
Avatar f tn In your case, having had a tubal ligation, the indication would not be for birth control but for the symptoms you describe and that is fine. I'm not sure what you mean by taking four pills. You should take it as you otherwise would: one pill at the same time each day. I suggest you see your ob/gyn to discuss these issues in greater detail. Best regards, Dr.

UNTIL I BECAME IN SEVERE PAIN IN ONE SIDE OF PELVIS , HAD A SUDDEN UNEXPECTED BLEED, AND LOST A HUGE AMOUNT OF TISSUE. HAS THE TUBAL FAILED? Avatar f tn Most have happened when they had a baby and then the next day had a tubal ligation. Have only seen one when they waited for 6 weeks or longer and then had the tubal.

Avatar f tn I had a tubal ligation immediately after my c-section when my third child was born in November. I can't answer about the periods being heavier or lighter because I haven't had one yet (I'm breastfeeding) but the recovery from the c-section was not longer because of having the ligation. You do have to sign a consent for the ligation as other people have said as well.
Avatar f tn Is it normal to have belly button discharge a month after tubal ligation(incision inside the belly button)?
Avatar f tn I'm 40yo I have debilitating painful periods with really really heavy bleeding. 4 out of 6 of my aunts on my dad's side had cervical cancer and my mom had it as well. I already had a tubal ligation. Can I tell my Dr I want a full hystorectmy? I don't want to try meds that may not work. I just don't want this pain or possibility of cancer at some point. I want all my lady bits out asap can I ask them to do that?
