Common Questions and Answers about Workout routines on machines

Avatar f tn I am trying to decide on a home exercise machine. I would like either and elliptical or a water rowing machine. I have researched both and tested out ellipticals. Rowing machines are a little harder to find. I know an elliptical will be good for cardio but will it also help build muscle?
Avatar m tn There are many routines that will work, most likely, not just one. If you use a gym weight machines have one benefit, in that they are calibrated to give you proper technique and show you right on the machine usually what muscles they're working. If you want to do free weights, can you afford a couple of sessions with a personal trainer? Or just watch the folks with the best definition where you're looking for it and ask them their routines.
Avatar f tn Treadmills and other cardio machines are ideal for helping you burn calories to lose weight. Try to avoid leaning heavily on the handrails. Check the gym's weight-training area to learn how to use a weight-training machine. For beginners, machines are a suitable way to exercise without the risk of using dangerous, incorrect form with free weights. Always consult the machine's instructions before use. Avoid overtraining.
193609 tn?1292180293 I currently workout at Anytime Fitness! I love it and would recommend it to everyone! All the cardio machines have a 13 inch TV on them, and have the Dish Network! I love working out there and their weight machines are great! I also just started Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred! that 30 minute video will kick your butt!! I recommend that to anyone that gets bored after a while...this video is short and to the point!!!
Avatar n tn I have been going to the gym about 4 times a week, doing cardio and also weight machines but still have not lost weight.
1396846 tn?1332459510 Michelle is right that swimming is an excellent way to exercise without sweating. I have to note, though, that often i do get heated in the pool when I swim. I try to be in there twice a week. Funny how that sweating in the water can occur. There are other exercises you can do that add an aerobic component without too much sweating - one of the arm/bicycle machines are good. You sit and move the "pedals" with your hands.
1858556 tn?1319811692 my heart rate is between 125 - 130. Should I wait for it to come down before i start on a 30 minute workout on the weight machines the weights? If yes, how far down?
Avatar f tn Hey I am 12 years old. And I am just wondering do you have any light exercise routines that would be good for me? Im just lazy and I dont do much exercise.
Avatar f tn I do cardio kickboxung twice a week followed by body sculpting that involves light weights (8-10lb weights) that's on tuesday and Thursdays. Wednesdays I usually take my dogs for long walks. I'm a hair dresser so the other days I'm working and am too exhausted and sore to do anything else as of right now. Keep exercising it's good for both of you.
Avatar f tn I'm not sure what polefitness is but I've kept up with my regular workout out routines and my doctor said it was fine. As long as the workout isn't too dangerous and your pregnancy isn't high risk, but you always need to check with your doctor first. I know working out has made this pregnancy ten times better than my first! Good luck with everything!
773214 tn?1295135069 I don't have a video or anything, but I hit the gym 3 days a week. I just do some light cardio (making sure I am never short of breath) and mini crunches on an exercise ball, and them some light weights on machines (they aren't very heavy so that I strain, but I do lots of repetitions so that I can still feel the burn). I have been going this whole time through even my last pregnancy and I think it helps me with the symptoms.
746818 tn?1233944362 I'm looking for treadmill workout routines other than just walking the whole time or running the whole time. I have been running at level 6 for 30 seconds, walking at level 3 for 30 seconds, running at level 6 for 30 seconds etc. Anybody else want to share theirs?
Avatar n tn since several months, I often go to the gym to make my workout. Therefore, my hands and arms are often exposed to the machines that everyone uses there. And on my hands, sometimes, I have little blisters or cuts (which don't bleed, however); I had large sunburns on by arms (which were partially healed, because the skin was not red anymore and not sore at all). I recently read that gyms were "dirty" places with lots of germs.
Avatar n tn Is it okay to workout and do exercise while pregnant? Just simple things like the treadmill/elliptical and basic strengthening machines?
Avatar f tn I exercise a few days a week with weights...is it okay to continue lifting weights now that I know I have a cyst on my ovary or could I be risking having it rupture? Is cardio okay to do? Thank you all.
Avatar f tn Babies take it out of you) these little trick will help. Once those levels increase you will be able to focus on typical excercise routines and maybe even hit the local park to amp up the adrenalin. Good luck.
505857 tn?1329681517 I also are not familiar with that particular class. My experience of gym classes, etc is that you participate to a level you feel comfortable with. As you lose weight and your fitness levels increase you will naturally take on and do more. I think the important thing is to go, do what you are able too and enjoy yourself. Confidence wise, you may find it a little intimidating to begin with but as you become more familiar with the moves etc you'll relax and feel more at ease.
Avatar f tn Drink lots of water throughout the day, even during workout. Breath! Dont hold your breath during strenuous routines. You can also try a creatine & protein post workout drink to help you along the way.
Avatar m tn m concered about my height.. my question is that should i concentrate on lifting weights and will it stop the growth of my height...i heard that lifting heavy weights can stop my growth. please help..
193609 tn?1292180293 would you consider starting a community post that would encourage community members to share their workout videos/routines so everyone can get some idea as to what our members think? Mind you, this is for information sharing, not to endorse or sell a product - it would simply allow those of us who may be considering the purchase of a few items to have some information ahead of time and perhaps narrow our search. gokuangel - Looking forward to your reviews!
Avatar m tn The next day me and my boyfriend had oral sex. Since 3 days ago i have cramps like i am on my period and they will not go away. Also last week i started working out a lot (mostly situps and leg workout and i feel my muscules are sore). Moreover, i have not been eating as much as i usually do and i lost some weight because of stress...so could my pain be connected to the workouts and stress? or did something happen during oral sex (i mean could i be pregnant or is something else going on)??
Avatar f tn m doing enough of the right kind of workout to really make a difference in my weight loss program. I heard that excercising in short spurts throughout the day can help if I'm still too out of shape to do it all in one go. I've also heard about "interval training" and have been hearing claims that some cardio machines are far superior to others. Can you help me fix my excercise regimine so that it actually makes a difference in the weight loss?
2006603 tn?1331329327 ve been told from experiences mothers that I trust and have seen their children on a schedule is you have to be on their time. But do look for cues yawning and what not and try to lay bby down if they sleep great if not that's fine to. I wouldn't worry about keeping her awake as they don't pay attention to much. I will, let you know what her Dr says if you'd like though. She's got one the end of Aug.
Avatar f tn It's possible that you're at a plateau, where your metabolism has adjusted to your caloric intake and your exercise level. Try changing your workout routines around to "trick" your body. You might also be retaining fluids a bit. You might also try getting a body fat percentage done to see if you're already as lean as you can reasonably get. If you are, no amount of dieting or exercise will change your weight very much.
