Avatar f tn I am trying to decide on a home exercise machine. I would like either and elliptical or a water rowing machine. I have researched both and tested out ellipticals. Rowing machines are a little harder to find. I know an elliptical will be good for cardio but will it also help build muscle?

Also, I am not gonna go to any type of gym or anything and I don't really wanna do anything around the neighborhood because there are bad people around. So, only exercises I can do at home.

For example If I finish a gym workout at 9pm and I do my normal routine go to bed etc. I then get up in the morning and my muscles are stiff I will instantly know that the hives will start to come up and the more a move around (walking) the more the rash comes up.

Before tx he used to ride his bike several times a week, for perhaps an hour to and hour and a half, in a hilly area. Now he can't really ride much at all because he becomes breathless quite quickly (low hemoglobin) and is tired in general. However, he has continued to do various activities that are less aerobic. He stretches and can walk and do outdoor chores when he's feeling energetic.
Avatar n tn After the biopsy they do another mammogram to make sure they biopsied the correct area. When you go home you ice the area on and off the rest of the day. I was numbed up very well for the proceedure but I understand some places don't numb the breast. You might want to check on that. Laying on the table was somewhat uncomfortable even tho they tried hard to make me comfortable. All in all I didn't think the proceedure was too bad.
Avatar f tn Today and tomorrow will probably be the worst of it. I forced myself to go to the gym on day 3 and I felt like hell. But, I did it. Just tried to focus on something other than how I was feeling like crap. I am at 19 days clean today off of Norco. You can do it!

Avatar f tn 44 yrs old, lost 25lbs about 6 1/2 yrs ago, immediately joined a gym and toned up, was lucky and did not have any excess hanging skin. Fastforward to this past summer. Since mid july my skin has now lost elasticity in my arms, my back, my upper and lower legs and my stomach area. I believe it is starting in the chin/jaw area now too. Went to doctor, she says it's genes, old age and sun damage. What are my options for tightening my skin - I am devastated by this and it just keeps progressing.

172023 tn?1334675884 The elliptical is a good calorie burner, but I didn't feel it was getting me as fit as exercising with my whole body. I mostly workout at home, and have a whole room devoted to it. It is slowly growing. Started with an elliptical, now a large floor mat, sets of weights, balance ball, and next I want to get a medicine ball. My DVD collection is growing too, I really like ones that you can "customize" and mix up routines.
172023 tn?1334675884 One activity I really enjoy is swimming. My gym as a nice heated pool, and its my reward after a hard workout. I usually do about 15-20 minutes of lap swimming after working out. Even if you can't swim, there is a belt that I see many people use (its called an Aqua Belt or something like that). It holds you afloat, so swimming is possible for everyone. At least twice a month I take an Aqua Aerobics class. Again, non swimmers can do it, and you really do what you can do.
Avatar f tn Thank you! I never do the same thing every day and I was actually just looking up a different workout on s p a r k p e o p l e before I read this. I didn't ride the stationary bike today either, which I usually do. Yesterday I took my kids to the park and played all over the playground with them. And I stopped counting calories for a week, too, because I wanted to see what would happen. I do think I eat more when I don't see how much fat/calories are going down the trap.
Avatar n tn It was more on the sides of my head though. The headache was so intense I had to stop my workout and go home. The next day went back and on the first excercise it was back. Since I havent worked out, I havent stoppped having sex with my girlfriend, but the POUNDING headache comes back while having sex, seems like when my heart starts pumping hard. Anybody know what this could be? I went and had a CT scan today and it came back negative. Please help!

Avatar f tn It still hurts to touch the area with any kind of pressure, and additionally it hurts to be standing/walking/jumping for too long. This is also impacted workout routines in the gym- I also cannot lean on it, such as to sit on the calves with knees bent. After telling the surgeon who performed the surgery about these issues 3 months post op, his answer was too wait it out another 2 months, which I did. He then sent me for an MRI which was unremarkable for any concerns.
