Avatar f tn I am trying to decide on a home exercise machine. I would like either and elliptical or a water rowing machine. I have researched both and tested out ellipticals. Rowing machines are a little harder to find. I know an elliptical will be good for cardio but will it also help build muscle?
Avatar n tn Only if you were doing them pre pregnancy
Avatar f tn Check the area of the gym that features a number of cardio machines. These machines often include a treadmill, elliptical trainer, rowing machine and stationary bicycle. A basic exercise for beginners is walking on the treadmill. Consult the machine's instructions and begin to walk at a slow pace. Walking on the machine's belt feels different than walking on solid ground, so keep your pace slow until you're comfortable with the feeling.
Avatar m tn It happens when I go on the treadmill first and start there or when I go on it after I have been on the elliptical. It has also happened once or twice in the middle of my thirty minute workout just on the treadmill. I don't feel physically stressed. I thought it might be the treadmill machines but I have tried them all and still had this happen. My friend I exercise with uses the treadmills too and she doesn't experience any of these kinds of rapid changes. So it is not he machines.
Avatar f tn All the machines like treadmill and elliptical etc. are okay as long as you feel comfortable. I just gave up bikes about a month ago because i was to huge was hitting my stomach. And also planks along many of the leg machines even sitting leg press and still okay and very safe.
Avatar m tn I had pain in my lower calf muscles and so I am sticking with the elliptical and burning 600 cals in elliptical. I aim at burning 450 cals each day on cardio and so hit 600 which i think the machine over-estimates. I believe 600 may equal to 450 actual. I was 175 lbs and have got to 162. But I am not going beyonf that. I am staying at 162 for over 2 months now. I look a bit toned, but still have a small-medium belly. I have lost my double chin significantly. Well i am 5"7.
Avatar f tn m going to make labor so much easier on myself because I continued my vigorous workout routine. I hope this helps encourage you to keep up with your workout routines. Good luck with everything!
Avatar f tn After 20 minutes on the elliptical machine, the ball of my foot and my toes begin to go numb. Am I wearing the wrong shoes? It has happened for years on several different style machines and settings. Any advice or feedback that this happens to others would be appreciated.
Avatar m tn There are many routines that will work, most likely, not just one. If you use a gym weight machines have one benefit, in that they are calibrated to give you proper technique and show you right on the machine usually what muscles they're working. If you want to do free weights, can you afford a couple of sessions with a personal trainer? Or just watch the folks with the best definition where you're looking for it and ask them their routines.
7880530 tn?1395017213 I disagree that you should go with the calories burned on the elliptical. Most exercise machines are set to record more calories than are actually burned; typically, unless it's very new and sophisticated, it wouldn't have asked for your statistics, whereas when you signed up for the app, you did enter all that information. The app will be more realistic.

Avatar f tn I usuallywalk about 2 miles (sometimes I will run for just a few minutes, it is more walking) and then I will use weight machines (abs, arms, and legs). I am just wondering if this has happened to anyone else or if anyone knows why this could be??
Avatar f tn Tuesday-assuning that you have joined a gym or are already a member of one do a strength workout (on machines for now). Do exercises for chest, biceps, triceps, and core. Keep the workout between 30-45 minutes to start. Rest 30 seconds to 1 minute between sets. Do 2 sets of 15 repetitions for each exercise then go home! No cardio on this day Wednesday-do some kind of cardiovascular exercise for 20-30 minutes. If you walked on Monday swim, cycle, elliptical, stepper this day.
1666434 tn?1325262350 Walking seems to be the lowest of impact that you can do. I am definitely taking it easy with this pregnancy and trying not to push myself. I do work out on the Eclipse for maybe 20-25 minutes. It's an elliptical machines so low impact. It's helped me keep my energy up when I get sluggish. I have certainly not lost weight though during the whole process, steady gaining over here, but was a normal weight prior to pregnancy.
Avatar f tn This trimester I got so much more energy and decided to start working out. I started with butt bible but figured squats were not that good for me but I do elliptical and my arms and shoulders. I'm 36 weeks today. Oh yeah and also wall ok a lot.
172023 tn?1334672284 I noticed immediately that I can get a better whole body workout that way. The elliptical is a good calorie burner, but I didn't feel it was getting me as fit as exercising with my whole body. I mostly workout at home, and have a whole room devoted to it. It is slowly growing. Started with an elliptical, now a large floor mat, sets of weights, balance ball, and next I want to get a medicine ball.
Avatar f tn Its ok just don't be obsessive with it... when your body says stop...
Avatar n tn I can only say that my wife has owned cardio equipment and if the owner used it frequently you'll probably find a lot of problems that constantly need fixing. They don't hold up well. If you can't afford fairly regular repairs in both time and money, I'd just get a gym membership -- it's probably cheaper in the long run.
Avatar m tn Post-herniated lumbar disk in 2007 began elliptical workout, 50 minutes/day. Using Polar HR monitor, usual HR on mounting elliptical 63-68. Usual average HR 50 minutes 140-145,. Usual peak HR at 50 minutes = 160-166. Recovery 40-45 beats in first minute. Last 6 weeks, these usual figures have risen, respectively to 73-80, 150-155, 170-176, 27-38. Exact same workout. Avatar m tn After working out on my elliptical for a half an hour, I have noticed that my forehead is bright red on the right side and pale looking on the left side. It seems to go away after about a half hour to an hour. I seem to get my wind back shortly after my workout and don't feel dizzy at all. I am getting my heart rate up to about 170 by the end of the workout.
