I've been on Enbrel for almost 9 years. I've recently been developing tremors in my hands, cheeks (when I smile), and tongue. Talked to my rheumy. He doesn't think it's the Enbrel, but I am growing more concerned. They're not bad, but they do seem to be progressing.
I did see, after I posted, that Humira is also ridiculously expensive. Hopefully the generic Enbrel will be available soon, but in the meantime, it seems there are numerous drugs you can at least try.

My problem is that when I get off Enbrel, every joint in my body swells, turns red, hurts unbearably and locks up. I become completely bedridden and cannot get dressed or go to the bathroom without help. My blood tests show that, even with the Enbrel, my c reactives and other immune response numbers are very high. They tell me that they will give me prednisone to help with the reaction.
I was on in for over three year and wish that I were still on it. As a matter of fact, I probably will go back on it when I see my doctor in a couple of weeks. I am presently on methotrexate which is doing absolutely nothing for me. Granted, we have different types of arthritis, mine being psoriatic arthritis, but I can tell you that I was on Enbrel alone for atleast three years and I had great results with no side effects. For me it was a wonder drug.

I was diagnosed with Severe RA in 1999 and was prescribed Enbrel. I've been on it 2 times a week since then and have very good luck with it. No side effects and have to take no other medications with it, besides Vicodin when I have a flare up or severe pain. I'll be getting married this October and am curious to know if any woman out there have gotten pregnant and given birth while on Enbrel.
AROUND THREE YEARS AGO I WAS HAVING FLARE UPS AND MY DOCTOR ALSO ME ON ENBREL, WORKED VERY GOOD FOR THE RA BUT MY NOW MY THROAT IS ALWAYS SORE AND CONGESTED WITH PHELM. THIS YEAR I'VE SEEM NUMEROUS DOCTORS ENT, GENERAL ALERGIST AND EVEN HAD SINUS SURGERY FOR 30 GRAND, NOTHING FIXED THE THROAT PROBLEMS. I SEEM MY RA DOCTOR THE OTHER DAY AND ADVISED HIM I'M GOING TO GET OFF OF THE ENBREL AND SEE IF MY THROAT CONDITION IMPROVES. HE DID NOT THINK THAT WAS THE PROBLEM.
Currently she is taking 12.5 mg Methotrexate, 12.5 mg injections of Enbrel twice weekly and 7.5 mg of Meloxicam. She has been having temps of 99-101 for the last year and a half and thigh pain for 3 years. All the doctors conclude that this all may be her arthritis. I don't believe that. I am worried they are missing something. They have done 2 bone marrow biopsys and both have come back neg. But they were done with all of the medication in her.
A friend of mine has PA and has been taking Enbrel for years and she is in great health now. I started taking it 14 weeks ago after being so miserable for 4 years. I feel the best I have since getting sick 4 years ago. I urge you to speak to your Dr. about it. Take care.

t stay on it very long until I have an infection and have to go off for awhile. Enbrel seemed a little nicer but not quite enough to control my disease. Its a fine line. I also live on 15 mg Prednisone a day, more or flares. I have lesions in my bowel from the disease that need to be controlled or my bowel has to be taken out soon. But again, lesions, then infection, lesions, then infection. The Lord giveth and The Lord taketh away; BLESSED BE THE NAME OF THE LORD!
Hi. I've had RA for 17 years, on Enbrel for the last 8.5. I never wanted to go on MTX because the side effects scare me, and I enjoy a few drinks with friends. A new doctor has put me on it in conjunction with Enbrel because I have couple joints which have been causing me problems. Otherwise, I've been great on Enbrel. I am now in my 3rd week on MTX, and seveal joints are really flaring. I find this very depressing.

Enbrel was introduced in 1998 and by the time my insurance agreed to pay for it it was Spring 1999 when I took my first injection. I started Enbrel along with an injectible dose of.09 Mtx weekly. For me Enbrel was a light-switch medication and within 2 weeks I was a normal functioning adult again with no pain at all. My only real complaint is that my hair has become substantially thinner and I am considering stopping the Mtx to see if there is an improvement.
I was into the 1st month on Enbrel for my RA when this first started. I brought this up with my doc, who just said, this is Enbrel - and nothing else. She made me feel that it was something unimportant and that the benefits outweigh the risks, yea what else is new. So I continued to take Enbrel for another month or so, and then quit.
Now the symptoms have worsened. I feel my legs shaking when in fact they don't. I feel numbness in the various areas of the legs.
weird, never thought that enbrel would be a cause of hpv. I have developed hpv before starting on enbrel. what connection is there between the two?
Hi - has anyone who has ever been on Enbrel noticed a rust-colored staining on the hands? I'm not sure if it is directly related to enbrel, but I thought I would ask. My daughter was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis several months ago, and has tried Remicade unsuccessfully. Now, she has had 2 injections of Enbrel, and just today has noticed the staining on her hands. I don't know what to think, so I'd appreciate hearing from any of you.
