Avatar f tn What is the mechanism of action for Plaquanil? After only 4 weeks may it be stopped abruptly?
Avatar n tn She is so exhausted that she can't fight no more against medical community in order to admit the origin of her symptoms and to push them to try to find a beginnning of solution. Is there any progress in the comprehension of the cause of these symptoms ? Are there some new treatments that appeared recently to counteract exhaustion and pains ? Do people group themselves in associations to better fight against this disaster ?
Avatar f tn My advice Christie, is to visit Mayo or google and contact Dr John Stone at Massachusetts General via phone or email, tell him about your symptoms and diagnosis. He may want to look at any biopsises or see you in person. He's one of a handful of doctors observing and publishing on IgG4-Related Sclerosing Disease. As TD2464 mentioned, it can manifest in places outside of the panceras/liver/bile ducts and researches are in the learning phase right now, waiting to see where it pops up next.
Avatar m tn I prefer to see undetectable 1 year post treatment before I say "cured" There have been some cases of late relapse within 1 year and, of course, the sensitivity of the tests have been questioned in some instances but, 1 year is extremely convincing. There is talk about immunsuppressive drugs triggering a relapse or recurrence of HCV.
217229 tn?1192766004 I think in sharing - we all help each other become more aware of the hidden possibilities of problems, reactions and outcomes of medications, lack of medications and treatments... In every action - there is a reaction. Chaos theory 101. LOL! I put it up to share - as well as to glean some serious information. I'm a mild case ---- People like DebNev and Alagirl --- wow - they make me look like a sissy. LOL! They're amazing people to have taken such a hard ride.
Avatar n tn Good to see you responded strongly at first, but then sorry to see the mixed and somewhat ambiguous results later on. Hard to say what the best course of action would be at this point. But since you say you're basically feeling fine, then like you said at the very least finish out the 48 weeks as long as you remain UND. Another thing is, is that I'm just a little skeptical of all the "29's" we've been seeing.
151263 tn?1243377877 So what HAS happened after being treated and ridding myself of the virus? Well, a lot of things. Let me speak firstly of physical well being after treatment. As the drugs wore off late last summer (stopped tx in early June ’07), my body was a wreck. My cholesterol was very high, I was weak, totally out of shape and would sweat and huff and puff with the slightest exertion. Initially I was somewhat underweight as I was during treatment.
Avatar f tn In June of 2009 I had a Nova Sure ablation with great results. I have no bleeding at all now and have had little to no pain. In December I suddenly had severe lower abdominal pain that originated just below the belly button and radiated to both sides and around my back. This pain was very sharp, brought me to a fetal position and induced vomiting. The severe pain lasted about 1 1/2 hrs and then eased up leaving me with a constant aching pain in my lower abdomen.
Avatar m tn He also has me on a bunch of oral supplements. One of the members of the yahoo group is a lady in her 70's who is a Berkson client who has had hep c for forty years named Susie Q. She continues to do well with no interferon treatments necessary. She has been going to Dr. Berkson for ten years I believe. Here is an interview sith Dr. Berkson in which he discusses both ALA and LDN. Very interesting read: http://www.honestmedicine.
Avatar n tn 1) I had been taking 2 days of aspirin/acetophenamin for headache AND 2) I had traveled to a location with a higher elevation than home by 4,100 ft. Both of these can cause a spontaneous bleed of small capillaries in extremities.
Avatar n tn 4. After a minute of sweating I suddenly feel something coming out of my rear end. I try to squeeze it out and only a hard stool comes out. 5. The sweating stops and the stomach cramp subsides. I think everything is over and I clean up. I walk out of the toilet and in about 2 minutes time the stomach cramp and the fainting sensation comes back (I've fainted only once to date from this and was out for about 15-20 minutes). 6.
