Hi I have been on Enbrel injections for over 4 years and i can't praise the drug enough fantastic results - i have the chance to visit family in Australia for 4 months when i retire in 18 months time the only obstacle is my medication and how would it work with my getting enbrel injections and it is a long flight - is there a solution around this problem

Doctor, I would like information related to Enbrel and MS. I used Enbrel for less than one year. I now have demylination of the cervical spinal cord, both optic nerves, plaques in my brain, numbness in leg and balance problems. I am now fifty eight. Symtoms started at age fifty six with numbness in leg and balance problems. I have been told it looks "MSish." Questions: now that the new symptom of, the optic nerves being demlinated, is it MS?

t mean to frighten Enbrel users. For many ppl Enbrel is a wonderful medication that causes no serious side effects and brings great benefits. There are many testimonies that support it's effectiveness. However with any drug, (even Aspirin) that doesn't apply to 100% of the ppl. No one should discontinue any medication without first consulting their physician. I am hopeful your Rheumatologist will listen to your concerns and address them.

Thanks, Justice! You should look into Enbrel when you're done with your pregnancy. It is seriously a MIRACLE drug for people with RA! At least it has been for me! About taking it during pregnancy, I have had to do a TON of research about the subject myself since there are discrepencies in the doctors viewpoints. The problem is that Enbrel is a relatively "new" drug. I have been taking it basically since it came out (since 2001).

I want all to know I am just starting Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN). Stopped the Enbrel, Plaquenil, Celebrex, muscle relaxers, Methotrexate and other meds, and am only taking my blood pressure meds, hormone therapy and this LDN! Theres still swelling of the veins in my penis and I get occasional left testicle pain. When I cum theres barely any sperm which is totally unusual for me and the smell of my scrotum is even different when I come home from work. (I'm sorry for the vulgarity) I have a strange feeling in my hands and occasionally feet that's either numbness or tingly. My stomach growls so strangely and often, nothing I've ever experienced. I have refused treatment all along because that is what feels right for me, although the pain has been so horrible this time that I have considered trying something. But for now, I'm going to stay the course. My breast surgeon is my primary physician for managing this disease. She has been working with a rheumatologist to come up with a treatment plan. She has a handful of other patients with this disease. For the last year she has wanted to try Enbrel, but can't find a volunteer.

m sorry but I know nothing about cervical spondylitis. My mother has psioratic arthritis and is on Enbrel. What a tricky disease to treat - she got tired of the shots and decided to stop them (plus they are expensive!) but after just a few days she changed her mind because the PA got worse very fast. that increase in lesions would concern me but I'm not the doctor. I hope your next MRI gives them some answers to help.

I have looked into the TNF-inhibitors in general, and found out that they can cause damage to the myelin sheath covering the nerve cells, which disrupts impulse transmitting, which is basically what happens in MS. Enbrel included. I will likely see a neurologist next year, when I'm eligible for Medicare. Right now, I have no insurance, and have noticed that my rheumatologist's attitude changed dramatically.

While I cannot speak from personal experience, I can say there have been very few studies in this area. So far, the one I have read indicate there were not any birth defects from taking enbrel during pregnancy. There is a lot of information on the web and personal stories as well as posts from people with MD at the end of their names.

I have had moderate to severe RA for 5 years. Take Enbrel once a week and am supposed to take 5mg. injectible of methotrexate weekly. I had gone without the methotrexate for at least six months and have not noticed any difference at all. I am scared to death of the methotrexate. Can anyone explain why my doctor wants me to continue it if it does not seem to make a difference? I do great on the Enbrel by itself, but am sure there are reasons, I just don't understand!

My dad has been taking Enbrel for several yrs for psoriatic arthritis. I realize this is not the same condition as yours, but it has helped him tremendously!
