427265 tn?1444080036 Weight traing by itself has an anabolic effect and increases the amount of HGH that your body makes. So I would weight train no matter what age you are anyone can benifit from it. This is a fact.

Avatar n tn I was once afraid, and still am of not having it as I have sometimes reached a point of choking and gagging from the dust particles and what they do to my breathing. My age now is 56. I was told by an allergist to stay in doors using the AC or heat, remove the carpet and drapes and when driving to leave the windows up and also use the AC or heat. My regular Doctor said the cure was to move.
Avatar n tn It's been the very best source for me in the last week than I could have hoped for. Regarding the drinking vs. meds. I stopped my daily glass (or two) of wine cold turkey 1 yr ago Feb. I began getting ill due to the fact I was also taking Lortab and Oxy everyday for chronic joint/back pain. I thought I was "smart" enough to cut out the alcohol so I would be "kind" to my liver. Have a 13 yr old daughter.
Avatar n tn Well, there are so many multifactorial issues involved with age management and weight loss. Carb junkies need to be evaluated for gut flora issues. Craving sweets and carbs may be a sign of a gut overgrowth of a fungus called candida. Also, adrenal fatigue can be an issue as can issues with a hormone called leptin. You may have heard of this discovery in the 90s touted as "the obesity gene.
Avatar n tn I have digenerative disc disease and my neirologist just prescribed topamax, he said it would help with the pain and tingling but could result in weight loss. I am wondering if prescribing topamax for ddd is common among neurologists? I can't seem to find any other information related to topamax as a pain med, only information I have is that it's a powerful drug with lots of side effects, most not so good. The weight loss aspect is the only plus...
Avatar m tn Barb, In your case your known 'target' is also the frees. Since you can adjust these individually , do you feel FT3 in upper range is more responsive to eliminating symptoms compared to FT4? Have you ever had FT4 in the low end on range, but FT3 upper third and still felt great?
Avatar n tn I was looking back on my weight loss chart and saw that within 3 weeks of starting lexapro each time, I had a significant weight gain. I went from 175 to 185 the first time and then continued to gain despite following the program and exercising. When I went off the med, the weight began to drop and I made it down below 200. I started it again in February this year and within 3 weeks, here came another 10 pounds and it's been steadilly going up ever since.
Avatar n tn Also it is natural to gain weight as you age; however at 31 I don't think you are quite at this point. As suggested before, weight training should be done to build muscle..which subsequently burns more calories than other body tissues. Also when you are doing cardio, use a heart monitor and stay in your target range...google "target heart rate" to get yours.
Avatar n tn Although a premium lens costs extra, if your insurance doesn't cover progressive eyeglasses, you might wish to factor in the savings from potentially not needing progressive glasses in the future (though after surgery you wouldn't likely need new ones often since the add wouldn't be changing), vs. the cost of over the counter readers (or even prescription readers that aren't progressive are going to be cheaper than good progressives). No IOL is perfect, there are always tradeoffs.
Avatar n tn I went today for my first week weight check and my second shot.....my weight loss for my first week is 9.5 pounds!!!! Anyone else using Phentermine and B12? I would love to hear how other people have done on these meds. Good Luck to everyone trying...I want to hear your story!
1938479 tn?1325709220 If Arnold Schwarzenegger was to use a BMI (weight vs height) chart while bodybuilding, it would have classified him as obese. Another way to look at fat versus muscles is that a cubic inch of muscle will weigh more than a cubic inch of fat. Muscle is about 18 percent more dense than fat. So a better question is am I in shape or do i need to convert more areas of fat to muscle? With that said, here is a weight chart that should only be used to give you an idea, so don't take it as gospel.
Avatar m tn Dear Eshan95: I apologize for the delayed response. By definition, a person with slow growth and short stature is defined as height below the 3rd percentile for age, growth rate <10th percentile for bone age, predicted height differ significantly from parental height, or abnormal body proportion. This definition is taken from "Short Stature in Childhood - Challenges and Choices" by Dr. David Allen and Dr.

Avatar n tn Google AACE Guidelines for Male Hypogonadism for a very technical document on the current thinking of how its treated. Age plays a part you should maybe print out a copy of an Age vs Average Testosterone levels chart. There is one in the Files section of Support ED Partners. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/supportEDpartners A good book (Although a tad dated) is Dr E. Shrippen's "The Testosterone Syndrome" I highly recommend this if you want to understand this issue.
435762 tn?1244686220 I had a baby 7 monthes ago and I started excercising 1 1/2 weeks ago and I was wandering when I will see results. I have been jogging, step aerobics (30min home video by Cath), stationary bike, walking pushing 2 kids in a stoller, watching what I eat, no soft drinks, high protein, some light weight lifting. I am 5"11 and weigh 158 lb and I want to get to 150.
Avatar f tn I had an ectopic 4 years ago, and i terminated a pregnancy when i was just 20. Long story, and im not here to debate the pro life vs pro choice thing, so just leave it. We don't think the issue is him. He has 7 children in the philippines. I am however obese, so that could be an issue. I guess the question is am i just hoping for too much here? Have i just waited to long and my chance has passed me by?
Avatar f tn Yes, I did do the Chinese chart and when it is the accurate one where your age is calculated into lunar years, it predicts a girl. I also paid for a gender prediction through **********.com, and they say boy:( Also I just got another boy prediction from another webiste which is an astrological prediction. I have also asked the psychic I have used in the past named cheri and she definitely sees a girl. I don't know if all could be confused by the fact that I was carrying twins and lost one.
Avatar n tn I Am a Young Mother I Have a 33 month old Son Who is Underweight and a Very Picky Eater...He is in the 6th Percentile for his Age in His Weight Wic is Concerned His Dr is Jerking me Around Right Now (My Son Also Recently Developed Sleep Apnea n We Are Having Trouble with His Dr Not Wanting to Give us the Results of My Sons Blood Work) So I Am Considering a New Dr.
9648 tn?1290094807 I'd be checking if your NP is going by a flat dosage ribavirin chart or a weight-based dosage (WBD) ribavirin chart. For Schering-Plough and at that weight, I'm thinking you'd be better off at 1000mg of Riba. That's my humble opinion on it. An article on the differences in results between FD and WBD, just in case that's what she's going by. http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/563799 As long as you can handle it .. and the earlier the better...
Avatar f tn ) Another tip is I always look up how much of what they are suppose to be eating for their age. Babycenter has a good chart, and I make meal plans for him based off of the amounts. But, doctor told me to let him eat however much he wants. So, he eats all of his then crawls over to me to eat my food too lol.
Avatar n tn Your well within the time to treat range if I understand it. A couple ideas. Download the Age vs Average Testosterone chart from the Files section of support ed partners group. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/supportEDpartners I think they also have a copy of the 2002 AACE Guidlines to Male Hypogonadism. This is a very technical document but if you want to work with that doctor you may want to share that with him/her.
602261 tn?1252586758 the differences simply reflect the reality of patient sampling across many factors (sex, age, VL, genotype, weight, stage, etc.) that affect outcome. It might be worth getting a copy of Jacobson'09, reading through it, and discussing the more recent data with your Dr.
Avatar n tn I have major anxiety issues myself, and it is so hard for me to know when I've done everything I can to keep myself healthy vs. when I need another test or another medical opinion. If anyone has advice on how to draw the line and just trust in being healthy, I'd love to hear it. It just seems like, for me, whenever I get to that point, some new worrisome symptom crops up.
Avatar n tn Anyone with a brain knows that you can't just tell a person a flat amount of calories to burn to lose a flat number of pounds. Weight loss to calorie burn ratios depend on age, gender, height, weight, body mass, hormones, activity level, and a huge list of other factors. It is unreasonable to tell anyone they should not use a product/program without any science to back it up. If you need your "proof," I suggest using a little site called "Google." Try looking it up.
Avatar n tn She always ate well from a bottle regardless of the type of food breastmilk vs. formula) but again, never ate much. She did have adequete weight gain at 2mths (50% on growth chart) but I started noticing a weight difference by the time she was 3 mths old and at her 4 mth check up she had lost 8oz and was very visably thin.
Avatar f tn She can't read the chart when she goes in for a visit at all. I'm really worried about her vision. And what happens if she gets a catarac in her right eye? There's no way she will get the surgery now, because of the outcome of the left eye. Can you help us?
Avatar n tn What are my chances for SVR; also should I try to get an extension of tx? I hav heard mixed things about 24 week vs longer tx? Mr.
Avatar f tn I have felt a lot of the same symptoms you have mentioned. I am wondering what your age is and what kind of diet you have? and do you exercise? Is most of your stress internal or external?
Avatar m tn I believe the oldest liver donor was 92 years of age. I know nothing about the protocol in India regarding organ allocation so I really can't add anything more to this subject. This is a very complex subject and I apologize for my incompetence. I think you need to sit down with your doctor and thoroughly discuss the condition of your liver, the likelihood of controlling your disease with medication and his/her prognosis as far as your life expectancy and quality of life is concerned.
