weight

1339332 tn?1329857966 Forgot to weigh myself before breakfast; this weight was done at 1320. It's rare for me to forget to weigh as I wake up thinking about being fat and go to bed thinking about being fat. And, of course, I think about being fat before and after eating every meal. It's sad but true that I permit my value to be defined by a number on a scale. I am 32 lbs above the weight I was when I was wearing a size 8 to 12, dating, falling in love and chasing active adventures. I'm 46 lbs.
Avatar f tn eight weeks and last week I went for two 96 minute runs. Last week I reached a somewhat elevated goal weight for myself (my goal is 64 kg but I think that may be a little unrealistic due to my height, build, etc). People were applauding my accomplishment and I was feeling great but now I have just sabotaged all my efforts. Or most of them. It feels like all of them. Maybe physical hunger was the stumbling block this time. Is knowing the difference between the two just a learning thing?
Avatar n tn The biopsy you had previously was examined by a pathologist,a different pathologist may have interpreted the slides differently. Fibrosis speeds up with age and length of infection. The only worthwhile input is to advise you to make an appointment with a hepatologist specialising in viral hepatitis and get down to a proper examination of your condition.
Avatar n tn Halfway through tx and there's only a 6% increase in serum clearance vs. re-tx'ing with current tx, and a 25% clearance overall. Not-so-hot odds, especially given that there's still another 24 weeks of tx'ing left - and 6 months after that to reach SVR status. Makes you wonder what that 25% figure will drop down to 50 weeks on (i.e. - when the SVR data comes in).
1551327 tn?1514049467 For my brother anger was a necessary thing to have since he was picked on daily about his weight in school. Sometimes I also need the anger. Sometimes I need to just feel and the medicines I have been on didn't let me do it. Also sometimes I don't want to feel. I am in my head and I don't want to go through the torture all night so I take my meds. I choose now when I want to be medicated and when I don't. I don't consider it playing Russian roulette.
Avatar m tn I've heard that many people get fever every time they administer peginterferon. I ran a fever of 102F on the first day that I was injected. Never again. What else? Weight loss: baseline 67Kg. Now 58Kg. I see no reason I should be worried. Baseline height 177cm. Still the same ;-) Anything else? Hair-loss! I've lost a little bit, I suppose. I don't know how much, and I don't care.
599170 tn?1300977493 Oh, ok, I guess I read your answer the wrong way. Sorry about that. It's is a controversial subject as it should be.
Avatar f tn I suggest buying a heart rate monitor. Figure your heart rate by this formula, The Karvonen Formula is a mathematical formula that helps you determine your target heart rate zone. The formula involves using your maximum heart rate (MHR) minus your age to come up with a target heart rate range (which is a percentage of your MHR). Staying within this range will help you work most effectively during your cardio workouts.
Avatar n tn Well, there are so many multifactorial issues involved with age management and weight loss. Carb junkies need to be evaluated for gut flora issues. Craving sweets and carbs may be a sign of a gut overgrowth of a fungus called candida. Also, adrenal fatigue can be an issue as can issues with a hormone called leptin. You may have heard of this discovery in the 90s touted as "the obesity gene.
Avatar n tn I don't think it matters how old you are. Weight loss in general is not good, no matter what age. I too have gastritis and I've lost 15lbs THREE moths ago and have YET to gain one single pound back. So far, every test is fine, just this pain in the *** gastritis. It has to be the reason for the weight loss. We are ALL going through it.
Avatar n tn However, I was gaining some weight already because I had to quit running (which I started around age 23 to combat weight gain due to a slowing metabolism) due to my TOS, so I think most of it is due to lack of physical activity because of my current physical limitations, and a diet that could, in truth, be better (it's hard to train yourself to eat healthy 24/7/365 when you used to be thin and able to eat whatever whenever). In short, you're 37.
Avatar n tn I have digenerative disc disease and my neirologist just prescribed topamax, he said it would help with the pain and tingling but could result in weight loss. I am wondering if prescribing topamax for ddd is common among neurologists? I can't seem to find any other information related to topamax as a pain med, only information I have is that it's a powerful drug with lots of side effects, most not so good. The weight loss aspect is the only plus...
Avatar n tn Viral Load - I'm approximately 6,000,000 Weight - I'm 185 Age - I'm 45 I understand that as each of these factors increase there is a correlating decrease in SVR. What I'd like to know is if there is any information out there comparing Pegasys to Peg-Intron when including any or all of these other factors that might help me in my decision making? Thank you again for all of your help.
233488 tn?1310696703 53-57 Study Summary This study was performed by a team of investigators from Alexandroupolis, Greece, who compared levels of spectacle independence and visual symptoms in cataract surgical patients. Two groups of age-matched patients with no ocular abnormality underwent cataract surgery performed by the same surgeon. 619345 tn?1310345021 About weight loss well I asked my doctor about losing weight and why cant I start before weight loss it is because the meds in the fridge are based on the weight before I gained weight he said get at least 8 kilos off but if I don't make the mark I will tx anyway with the meds I have made up my mind He said I most likely will not lose weight maybe he is just being him He now calls me Dr.
Avatar n tn Can anyone give me an idea of how long it usually takes for your metabolism to recalibrate after stopping Effexor and/or Lexapro? I've gained significant weight while on these drugs (despite an intense exercise program and careful diet). My nutritionist and MD told me that the drugs likely altered my metabolism, but no one can tell me how long it will take to correct that. Most frustrating, I've noticed that since I stopped taking both, my weight gain has accelerated.
Avatar n tn I feel like all the ideal measure on weight and height out there are scewed for people that lift and have large muscle mass. Im concerned Im overweight but not sure if its healthy weight or not? I made an appt for this week to get blood work done to figure out if it is a thyroid or some type of hormonal problem. It was commforting to hear Im not the only one with this type of problem! Thanks for all the info!
Avatar n tn I went today for my first week weight check and my second shot.....my weight loss for my first week is 9.5 pounds!!!! Anyone else using Phentermine and B12? I would love to hear how other people have done on these meds. Good Luck to everyone trying...I want to hear your story!
1140722 tn?1266356279 Though long-term results are not yet available, doctors believe POSE will be an effective surgical option for patients who need to lose between 50 and 100 pounds. Incision free weight loss surgery is performed under general anesthesia entirely through the patient’s mouth without any external incisions into the body. In addition to the absence of visible scars, this technique results in fewer complications, less trauma, and shorter recovery time.
1938479 tn?1325709220 If Arnold Schwarzenegger was to use a BMI (weight vs height) chart while bodybuilding, it would have classified him as obese. Another way to look at fat versus muscles is that a cubic inch of muscle will weigh more than a cubic inch of fat. Muscle is about 18 percent more dense than fat. So a better question is am I in shape or do i need to convert more areas of fat to muscle? With that said, here is a weight chart that should only be used to give you an idea, so don't take it as gospel.
Avatar m tn Males: IBW = 50 kg + 2.3 kg for each inch over 5 feet. Females: IBW = 45.5 kg + 2.3 kg for each inch over 5 feet Your IBW is calculated to be 61.5 kg, so you are currently about 22% below your ideal body weight. In addition, your body mass index (BMI) is 17.6, which is considered underweight. With your height and age, you are in the 5th percentile when plotted on the Growth Curve Chart of the Bayley-Pinneau method. So, by definition, you are not in the short stature category.
Avatar n tn You want to make sure that what ever food you feed has high quality protein from identifiable meat souces ie 'whole chicken' vs 'meat meal' and does not have too much grain. Dogs tend to get their energy from fat, not carbs. Labs can have a tendency to gain weight (as can bullies) so make sure you feed an appropriate portion for your dog's activity level. It will make a huge diference as you pup gets older by not stressing his joints with extra weight.
Avatar n tn In so far as the meds are concerned, the main concern for pediatricians is that a med will cause sleepiness in an infant and cause them not to feed enough and thus gain weight/thrive. As they grow it becomes less of a concern because the baby is bigger and absorbs less due to food intake and increasing size. Most drug companies will say its not a good idea to take meds during lactation as they never study the drug on newborns or breastfeeding Moms, ethics will not allow it.
Avatar n tn Please consider that drastic weight gain or weight loss is unhealthy! Every person responds to carbohydrates, fats, lactose, fructose, aerobic exercise, physical/mental exertion, bacteria, viruses, injury, environmental influences, situational influences, and most important, brain chemicals (including medications) differently because we are not genetically identical!
Avatar f tn His shrink told him he would not take him off the Risperdol. I know Risperdol does cause weight gain. I know all the warnings of this drug for the elderly, those with diabetes, and heart disease. This just seems too risky for him. But the psychiarist says this he is staying on Risperdol. There was only one week in which he sounded really good. Now, he is back to having difficulty breathing. Last week he gained 5-7 lbs of fluid in one night.
Avatar n tn According to my Doc if your clear at 12 weeks and remain clear to the end you have between a 60 to 75% chance of a SVR depending on liver condition, age, weight, viral load and so on. And over 90% of patients with an ETR will relapse within 3 month of treatment. Less than 5% relapse after SVR within 5 years.
Avatar n tn If she is asymptomatic under mild exercise, close to the ideal weight/height for her age and manages her life to exclude heavy lefting and exhaustion, physical or mental, she could postpone surgery for a very long time. Her Weight, blood pressure and other vitals being normal, she could go quite some time before requiring surgery. Even with opinions that are unanimous, "timing" is a tough call to make.
18663 tn?1198175415 I had a consult with my doctor yesterday and the prognosis is good. My prostate cancer was caught in very early stages. I had taken a copy of your answer to BK2005 (above) with me. My doctor said that he wouldn't the recommend surgery option at this time. The only fellow that does the robotic procedure in our county is "still in the learning stages".
Avatar m tn I am a 45 yo male, 20-25lbs over my ideal weight, I was diagnosed 10 years ago with a murmer, and I walk on a treadmill 4-5 times per week (2+ miles/day at an average of 4+mph) My resting heart rate is typically right around 51bpm, and generally elevates to 150 (+/- 20 depending on incline/intensity) during my walks.
1913502 tn?1330391792 I would agree with cando ..that there are many more incidences of "relapse " with Geno type 3 (according to study data),however still moderately low ( 18%) with 24 weeks of total treatment time. The increased rates of relapse are thought to be somewhat attributed to incidence of fatty liver in G3's and also faster increase of fibrosis in many G'3's. Also these following are risk factors for relapse: male, black race,>40yrs.old,high viral load, and higher than ideal body weight.
