s because I am upsessing about having mouth cancer but the point is I also got a dry throat the next day...but for 5 cigars can not being inhaled can it cause mouth cancer? I have stopped smoking them but I am really scared I know it was stupid to do but I'm scared now so I don't know if I can't mouth cancer from that...
Hi. No. From your description, it doesn't seem to me like throat cancer. Your doctor is probably correct in diagnosing it as an infection, although it may be viral instead of bacterial, which may be the reason why it does not seem to be responding to the antibiotics. The other reason why the infection has gotten prolonged instead of resolving is the fact that you have continued smoking intermittently. Cigarette smoke impairs the immune system, so it would be best for you to quit.
Hello im typing today because ive been smoking for the past 10 months about 5 cigarretes daily but the last two months i increased my cigarrete intake and wasnt eating right due to some stressful days i was going thru , so ive notice this past month of april that i have like a lump in my throat and i havent been having regular bowel movents is like im constipated and im really concerned because i think i might have throat cancer.
Unfortunately, I can't answer your question with a lot of specifics. We don't have transmission studies on HPV like we do herpes, so I can't give you stats on one time exposures, or likelihood of transmission from oral, etc.
I can say that oral sex is generally lower risk for all STIs than vaginal or anal sex, and that while oral HPV is definitely possible, throat cancer remains rare.

Hi, i'm 29. I have been a smoker for 7yrs, I recently have felt constriction after smoking cigarettes. I decided it was best to quit smoking. I haven't smoked in over 2 weeks, however now I feel a different feeling in my throat pressure against my throat (choking) type. I also noticed redness on my soft palette with a single white spot in the center. I visited a family Dr, he tested for strep, it was negative. He believes it could be viral my temp was 99.
I would say it could be oral HPV but that this is fairly rare in women and the wart strain does not cause cancer (from what my research indicates). There are about 100 strains of HPV and only a very few cause cancer and warts and neither do both. As always it is best to just go and get tested when in doubt. On the bright side many strains of HPV can be flushed from the body in months to a couple of years.

But you really need to make sure, and go to a doctor again cause Micheal Douglas had the same issue, sore throat, got it checked and they didnt see nothing, keep hurting and he went back and by that time he had stage 4 throat cancer. Not saying that you do or it even anything like cancer, but please go as soon as you can and get it checked out again, and be more thourough, and go to another doctor and get that second opinion. But like the other person, said tonsilitis is also an option.
Yes, HPV can infect the throat and it may be related to cancer of the throat (not the mouth) HOWEVER, the risks for these cancers appear to be influenced far, far more by previously described risk factor such as smoking (this is the biggest one) and heavy drinking. The contribution of HPV to cancer of the throat remains unquantified and is at most only a small fraction of the cotribution due to smoking and heavy drinking.

Dear All, I am suffering from mild sore throat ( ON and OFF) for last 1 month. No cough but some times irritation throat and most of the time one of the nasal is blocked. Visited ENT specialist and after checking he confirmed suffering from " PHARYNGITIS" He had given anti-biotics for 5 days and assured recovery after that. After 5 days my problem has almost gone away but still very mild irritation and sore throat is there.
This week I was given the bad news that I had Esophageal Cancer, squamous cell carcinoma. I am 54 year old male that was a pack a day smoker for almost 40 years. It started a couple of months ago. I couldn't swallow anything, I would try and dislodge food that was stuck down my throat with water. But this would work and sometimes not. It's more of a discomfort than pain. I got myself to the emergency at the Civic Hospital in Ottawa.
s your risk of getting it in the neck is very small, let us then reverse it and say that there are very many who have it then means of course the risk that get it in the neck or getting cancer of the throat is very small in relation to how common HPV is, we have found that many people who get cancer of the throat has HPV, it's a big difference to come up with how many people have oral sex who gets cancer, as I said, oral cancers linked to oral sex, oral sex, but can hardly be said to be link
