I am seriously at my wits end with my throat! Will try and keep this brief. Early part of January I developed a cough for longer than 2 weeks (I was a smoker then), freaked out, went to the GP and he said I just have a sore throat, prescribed me antibiotics & a chest x-ray to rule anything out, the xray was normal & my cough stopped. Two weeks after that my cough returned, another trip to the dr, he prescribed me cough syrup for which I only took once, the cough stopped.

Hi, I have had a sore throat for over 3 weeks, the pain not really bad but annoying, my tonsil on left side has been swollen from time to time, especially in morning when I wake up, I have noticed a small spot with a white halo around it at the back of my throat on the side of my mouth that has been sore, should I be concerned about this? Oral cancer? Or possible infection?

My father was diagnosed with throat cancer 3 and half months ago . There was a tumour found in his throat. He went through a surgery to remove the tumour . He had to remove his voice box and some muscle from his throat which was replace by his chest muscles . He had to breathe through a hole made in his chest. He got fed through a tube in his stomach. After the surgery he was getting better and had to wait nearly 4 weeks for his radio and chemo therapy.

t know if this could be GERD or not. After researching, it seems I have symptoms from everything to GERD, throat cancer, anxiety, sinus, etc. I have no clue what is going on, and the Doctor just slapped me on anti-biotics and said it was "probably" my sinuses. Back in early Feb. 2010, I had 2 wisdom teeth removed. Well, there was a 2x3 cyst removed in my maxillary sinus cavity that had created a hole and attached itself to the root of my upper left wisdom tooth.

I read that the lump is caused by restricted blood cells and is basically dying cartilage that can/will disintegrate and leave a hole. Is there anything I can do to prevent the tissue from disintegrating? I can only find info on what to do once the hole is there, but nothing about if you can prevent the hole when the lump first appears.

my mother thinks she has throat cancer...i think barretts....since she was little she would always have her stomach acid flow through her throat.....( idon't know if that makes sense, like when she is laying down it flows back into her throat) and so over the years, her throat has suffered from the acid...she also feels pain in her throat...her throat burns everytime she talks and swallows (occasionally). her voice has became rough/scratchy. she also feels a lump in her throat. help me....

I was given a choice to either quit smoking and hope that we were early enough to have caught it, and hope that my throat repairs itself, or end up with throat cancer and all that goes with it. I quit smoking. My following check ups have been all good. I am LUCKY, because I didnt wait, I have lost to many friends and family to cancer, (on my husbands side even non smokers). So please dont wait, get to a Doctor. I may not be here today if I didnt Jump to it.

It helped to calm my fears and he talks about the same article I read which states high strain hpv (not the kind causing warts but the kind causing cervical cancer) is now a big factor in the rise of throat cancer. According to him less than 5% of people with high strain develop throat cancer. I can rest a little better now. Thanks again.

My husband has/ had throat cancer. He went through kemo and radiation. He is going to tested Fri. to see if treatment worked. He still has very bad breath. Also 2 other spots have shown up too. He also has a large lump on his leg.

I went to see an ENT and he did a scope (went in through the nose and looked down at the throat), I had a CT of the throat, and an Ultrasound of my thryroid and a Upper GI Series (Barium Swallow). There was nothing he could see from the scoping, the CT came back negative, the Barium swallow showed mild to moderate acid reflux, and the ultrasound showed nodules (which the doc said was nothing to worry about). All in all everything that was done did not show any type of mass or obstruction.

I suggest you see an Ear nose and throat specialist. They will be able to take a look in your nasal area as well as in your throat. So suggest to your family doctor you would like to see your local specialist.

Hello I have been having some Throat Tightness, Its a feeling like a choking sensation, it doesn't bother me all of the time just every now and then. I am only 16 years old. Sometimes I have throat pain. I have had this a lot of my life, it comes and goes, sometimes it will stay away as long as a year or so, but somehow it manages to come back. Do you think that this could be some type of cancer of the throat? I did have a lot of sore throats when I was younger.

I have healed in the actual tonsil area but have a literal hole (slim hole you could fit dime in) in the back of my throat wall. I have tried to research this and it only says hole in tonsils but this is behind my uvula on the literal back wall of my throat. One side has it and the other doesnt!!!! HELP! I am hoping it heals on its own bc I am traumatized from people touching my throat now. Does anyone know what this is?

I would not assume it is cancer until it is checked out. It might just be a case of sore throat. I know that once you have had cancer you think anything that comes up is cancer too. Be patient and wait for the doctors to determine what it is. God Bless you and your boyfriend. Just keep saying prayers for him. Take care.

next day i discovered a red spot with white in center on the left side of my cheek didnt think much of it but just a couple of days ago i noticed a white patch on my soft palate way back near the throat also on the left side and under my tounge the veins look a hole lot bluer and expanded that before.

Right next to my vagina hole, I have 3 balls. they are about half the size of a pea. One is right below my hole, one is to the left of it, an one is a little bit away from the other two. the inside of me is always sore now, and i have a little pain when i pee. what could this be?

The rest of the scabs have fallen off and now I see an actual hole in the skin in the back of her throat where the tonsil used to be. There was a scab in that location last week but it appears that when the scab fell off there is an actual hole there. I am very concerned at I am wondering if this is normal and if it will eventually fill in or will she be left with this hole and why it is there.

sometimes the nose will actually bleed down the back of your throat instead of out your nose. means the hole is actually higher up in sinus cavity. i would say if ya think ya got one, c an ear nose throat doc. it is not something to mess around with, it hurts and doesnt grow back.

I've had a sore throat for the past week (I live in California, but the sore throat started before the wildfires). I checked my throat in the mirror with a flashlight the other night and saw a whole about 2mm in diameter on my tonsil. I could not see the end of the hole either, it turned into a black void since the light could not reach. I have a picture, but unfortunately I cannot attach the photo to the post.
